oh my that's a lot of water, the animals will all need a disinfecting foot bath - more work for Mummy Moon. Dogs and water - you just can't stop them lol Good job Team Moon and friends!! The Turkeys look very happy in the dry enclosure - well done for a first time, the birds look very calm and unscathed - a testament to the Moon Magic!!
Turkey handling. Put a carrier into a corner and gently, slowly, coax the turkey into the cage or carrier then move them. Picking up a turkey even a friendly one can cause them stress leading to illness or heart attack due to oversize breeding for slaughter. Never let them jump or drop (oversize have weaker legs than a chicken), never hold them by the neck or wings. The bigger they get the more dangerous it is for them to be picked up - dangerous to them. Never ever chase a Turkey, always coax them gently to a corner, where you can then if necessary pick them up for health inspection. Turkey Sanctuaries have wonderful tips for keeping your pet Turkeys safe and healthy.

The Approach
First off, if you’ve never handled a turkey, especially an adult turkey, do not attempt to pick them up alone! Have an experienced caregiver demonstrate the technique for you. Like any bird, when approaching the turkey, it’s essential that you not chase them. Chasing is going to stress them out and will likely make them skittish or confrontational around you. In order to corral them, guide them into a corner where you can safely secure them. Turkeys are very sensitive to quick motion and loud noises, so be extra gentle! Some more nervous turkeys may still actively avoid your grip, so they might require a bit more coaxing.
Safety First!
If you’re gathering a turkey for a health checkup, especially if they show signs of illness, remember to wear gloves and protective clothing in order to lower the chances of contracting or spreading any external parasites. Do not wear loose jewelry around turkeys when picking them up as they have been known to snatch shiny objects off of people.
The Pickup
When picking a turkey up, the technique you choose depends on their breed and health. For smaller non-large breed turkeys without many health challenges, you can stand beside them and then hug the bird to your upper body, making sure to safely cover their wings. This will prevent them from injuring themselves or jumping away from you. It’s not safe to hold a turkey’s body under their wings for these reasons.
Unsafe Holding
NEVER pick up a turkey by their wings, feathers, legs, feet, or neck. This is an unacceptable practice that regularly harms turkeys. Do not allow anyone else to pick them up by their wings either! Some veterinarians have been known to do this as it is a standard practice in animal agriculture environments.

This year we have certainly had significantly more rain since the summer than l can remember fir a long time.

Unfortunately, it is becoming a common problem with areas of the world all having increasing amounts of rain and storms. It is either feast or famine. I think Nick's advantage is his length, the pipe none of you can locate is probably just a bit lower than any of you are reaching, especially without lying in the water and submerging your heads (which you should NOT do). Great teamwork and problem solving. Daddy Moon will be home SOON! 🎉
