This is the best guitar youtube channel I've come across. As someone who has only been playing for about a year and struggles to figure out what I should be learning, your channel has provided a ton of great lessons, and also book and music recommendations. Thank you for all the great videos and I look forward to many more!
It's a pleasure to watch someone talented and "normal" by today's standards. Pure talent and knowledge, no showing off with $5k amp that actually sounds crap. Respect for this!
You’re doing the right thing, a great thing! You definitely showcase a lot of great guitar players that don’t get the same credit as the stereotypical ones. Just for that alone, I applaud.
Snuffy Walden's tv work has always been some of my favorite acoustic music ever.. The Wonder Years Thirty Something My So Called Life He's great! Great mention!! Congratulations on your page!! Thank you for your work Dave! 🕊️✌🏻🫵🏻❤️
Hey Dave, congrats to 6 years. You still look the same😉. I love your details in the surrounding (changing the LPs an Magazine-Covers, T-Shirts). But I really love your humor and of course your great playing!!! Thank you for all the interesting tipps an inspirational licks. ROCK ON!!!
Congratulations on 6 years! Here's to 6 more and beyond. Ed would have been 70 today.... whoa! I saw them in 1981 on the first date of the Fair Warning tour. I was 14 and it was incredible. The stars aligned. 😄 BTW, Tommy Bolin was fantastic on Quadrant 4, that definitely influenced Hot For Teacher, Alex essentially admitted to it not that long ago.
Congrats, I always feel this is a breath of fresh air and I feel upbeat about my guitar ability even if your showing us Sykes riffing or eddies tapping, I will always watch and never feel down, cheers! ✊🏼💙🎸🎶😌
I often wonder if Ed also listened to Oliie Halsall from Patto back in the day. Particularly the Loud Green Song from 1973 has some crazy off the wall stuff that I'm sure he would have liked. Congrats on your channel's 6th anni and keep up the great work Dave!
Thank You David. I think you can learn something new from every guitar player and that is why you giving us a really wide spectrum of different style of players is probably one the reasons why you have a solid and satisfied viewer/fan-base. Boogie on, man !
Bro the amount of quality content you put out is amazing. I've been playing probably as long as you But I learn something every lesson. I especially appreciate you turning me on to guitarist's i haven't heard of Do you what do....haters going to hate Anyone bitching OBVIOUSLY isn't playing enough
Yes, you did nail that Happy Birthday rendition, David! And you are so low-key about it that I had forgotten you even have a Patreon page. Maybe bump that up just a bit?
I have always told people who've asked me about the best way to learn to play music (any instrument, especially guitar)... Learn to play anything & everything , no matter the genre , style , or even if you don't really like the song ... The knowledge you gain from learning to play it will only make you a better , more rounded musician !! You've shown me this as well through your videos !! Thank you so much and wishing you only the best for the future !!
Well done man that's a lot of work!!! Iv been subbed for a while when I saw your vid on guitar player and the other mags that were going and it all made sense l!!! This channel gives me the same feeling getting a new one of those mags would (back in the 90's) when you have a new vid.. and you were a contributor too them too haha cracked me up! Congrats on 6 years and many more!!! Bless your cotton socks bro 👍 keep rockin it!!! 😉🙏🕊️✨👼
Your channel is great as is, no explanations owed to any haters, keep doing what you're doing. Hopefully we get to see some lessons on Ten Years After in 2025!
I hear about Allan Holdsworth frequently in the guitar community so I had to give him a listen. He has such a great flow that I could listen to everything he does. And don't worry about only being human. They make the best musicians.
Favorite channel on UA-cam. Very refreshing that it’s not all about the gear. How about a deeper dive into some of your music - would love to hear your thought process
I'm a keyboard player and I have followed you since really early on. Thanks for all the lessons and inspiration over the years! Keep up the good work! 💪😎👍 Cheers from Sweden! 🥂
Don't ever change a thing with your channel. I like the way you do it. Reminds me of Van Halen's music....raw, live, fun & yes, some mistakes. Keep rocking!
I just listened to a little Stray Dog and Tempest because of this. I could really hear the Cream influence on both. Crazy how influential Cream was and is. Clapton in his past life was so good.
День тому+2
Stray Dog are Like Bebop Deluxe, not heard of , but with an incredible guitarist - Bill Nelson- underrated
Great Channel! I also wanted to point out that it looks like Eddie lifted tons! The beginning of House of Pain (Zero Demo) and 1:35 on the 1984 version sounds like Flight of the Rat by Deep Purple at 3:55 . The lick at 1:29 that gets repeated throughout the song sounds like one of his pull-off licks . Also, noticed that the I'm the One riff sounds like I Don't Want It by Montrose but played faster. All Shook Up by Beck at 4:27 has that same chirp he does with the pick on Sinner's Swing! The solo on Ice Cream Cakes by Beck from 2:35 to 3:00 has tons of licks which he used. I think there's more I'm not remembering but he definitely found the best pieces and used them or tweaked them to create his style. Let me know if anyone already knew these and if there's more 😂
Stumbling upon your channel was an enormous blessing for me. You`re a great musician, teacher and I like your easy going manner. Hopefully Rock and Roll makes a comeback someday. Or just good songs in general.
Thank you, David! My first memory of your channel was the Funkadelic episode that I watched during the lockdown and I would take my acoustic guitar out to the park or the river and just love playing those riffs, it was a group I never dug into before as a guitar player. Here's to 6 more years!
You really are the best in this guitar lessons videos! Thanks for all your help and love you put into your videos. Really you made me love the guitar even more and really feel it! Thanks never stop doing your thing.
Awesome job Dave 🔥 You’re absolutely right about inspiration, I feel I didn’t make any kind of real progress until I figured out all the heroes I was playing to didn’t need to be NOTE FOR NOTE . It’s all about the FEEL AND ATTITUDE !!!!!!!! Again, Great resource Thanks Brother
The first cool hard rock lick I learned was Ain’t Talking Bout Love. I love your purpose for this channel and how you shed light on some “forgotten” great guitarists.
I heard when Eddie was offered to do Beat It, he did it as a favor and didn't get paid for it. Idk if that's true, but when I heard that explosive solo, HOLY COW!! Happy Birthday EVH 🎂⚡🎸
Great video. I'll check these albums out. You're one of the best guitarists on UA-cam. No lie. Your knowledge of the fretboard and music in general is amazing. You should be up there with Beato. I don't think there is anything you couldn't play. Your subscriber count should be way higher than it is. Keep putting out the great videos.
@@Beachbum4ever A couple years ago, I came across a random blog, one of the posts about how to play like Gary Moore, and David came up. I took the ride and I still keep learning.
I appreciate your efforts Dave. Looking forward to more episodes. Dedicate an episode to Dan and Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, killer guitar band . Cheers brother.
Congrats on your channel's birthday. You've taught me so much and not just playing but listening too. Just listened to that Tempest album - what a snapshot of the early 70's, - Purple, Zappa as well as those EVH moments. Thanks Mate.
Best guitar channel out there

Agreed. Ben Eller made a vid showcasing one of Eddie's riffs demonstrating how hard he could swing.
You’re truly amazing David!😢
Listened to the intro jam about 10 times now. Riffs got the vibes, awesome playing man
Thank you for sharing your soul, David.
It's the tone that emanates from your heart and transmits through your guitar that draws the ears. No BS or products needed 🫀🎸 ✨✨ 👂🏼 😁
