  • Interdiction to seize the bank accounts, to penetrate their residences, to open the luggage, to worry any member of the personnel of an embassy and even of his family. The diplomatic immunity was established by the Convention of Vienna, in 1961, to protect the diplomats from threats, bad manners of the authorities of the host country, etc. With practice, it became a quite practical umbrella for certain diplomats in delicacy with the law. We inquired into these cases of diplomats out-the law. Because some victims rebel against the diplomatic immunity. Associations try to obtain that diplomats can be judged as anyone else. -

Very interesting indeed. As long as your a Diplomat pass go and get your own Get out of Jail Free Card. I thought this only happened in Monopoly.

Laws have changed. In most cases lower level embassy/consular officials and certain family members are no longer afforded the cloak of diplomatic immunity for criminal behaviour.

How about don’t let them drive? When they need to go somewhere, provide them a chauffeur?
As for employees of the diplomats, the salaries should be negotiated with the local government; then the diplomats pay the local government in advance for each year. The local government will take care of the employees’ salaries.

If Victorine's experience is considered to be abuse-Then that means every single house maid/house girl that works in an african home in africa is being abused because they work longer hours than victorine. They get up at 4am,prepp the children for school, clean the house, cook, tend to the garden, and when there is a family gathering or party, they cook, serve and clean up after the party is over. This is a daily routine 7 days a week. The only days they get to rest are December during the Xmas and New Year season-They get 2 weeks off to visit family and rest.
