The genre is independent country or Americana. It focus on meaningful lyrics sung my singer/ songwriters and classic country and blues music. It is not played on much commercial radio but it is getting more popular and is featured in a lot of music festivals.
TC has a strong catalog. Check out a few: - Whitehouse Road (Our Vinyl sessions or live with band version) - I Swear to God - Purgatory (live solo version) - Feathered Indians
Tyler would classify himself as a country artist, but he does carry folk and bluegrass with him everywhere he goes. If you’re looking for recommendations and you like acoustic performances I’d recommend Follow you to Virgie, Shake the Frost or one even more obscure is a video one of his friends posted of him doing a cover of Goddamn Lonely Love written by Jason Isbell and preformed by the Drive by Truckers. Honestly, I’m the biggest fan. The list goes on and on. His whole discography is 🤌 buuut he did just release a new song yesterday called In Your Love that he preformed at Bonaroo a few weeks back that’s getting some criticism. I’m sure he’d appreciate a little positivity.
My husband is from pike county. His grandfather was a coal miner and he worked there for awhile. That place is a different world. We live in Florida now lol
This song & Lady May were both in Yellowstone. Season 2 episode 5 for this song. Zach Bryan definitely go inspiration from Childers. second line of Flying or Crying he makes reference to TC. “We’ll find a porch to hold us where we can all scream Childers”
I'm from the area he's from in Eastern, Ky. The song is referring to his Dad hurting his back at work in the Coal Mines. His Dad became addicted to prescription pain pills. which was a HUGE goal for big Phrama to lie to the Appalachian "mountain ppl" The process on how the "addiction to pain pills started with opioids and how they targeted Appalachians is on the Hulu show "Dope Sick" His Dad is telling him to not go work in the coal mines. To keep grinding making music and to not get addicted to pills. Opioid addiction in Appalachia is horrific! There's not one family who doesn't have at least one family member addicted in Appalachia! Tyler Childers name is pronounced Tyler Chill-ders! I know because I grew up with kids who had the last name Childers. Plus, my son's BF is from the same area in KY (although he lives & teaches in SC) and his name is Childers! You should react to "Follow you to Virgie"! That another extraordinary song from TC!
Not acoustic, but you are missing out if you don't check out some of his religious stuff. In particular Angel Band and Way of the Triune God, preferably live. They will blow you away.
Even if you don't review these. Don't miss them. Shovels and Rope, After the Storm. Jake Kohn, Frostbite, The version where he is standing in the woods. Sound is much better. And Colter Wall, Kate McCannon.

I havent heard one bad song by Tyler Childers. Amazing artist!!!

- Feathered Indians
Lady May, and Hard Times by Childers along with Nose on the Grindstone are 3 of the deepest, best written and preformed songs I have ever heard.
Chill-ders
TC was an influence for Zach Bryan. Also, for future reference, its Chill-durs. Whitehouse Road(Our Vinyl Sessions version) is a great one as well

I love all his songs ❤
Child lolololol ahhhhh chill durs
You’ll have to go to Jason Isbell next. Pick any song from the albums Southeastern and Something More Than Free. Any song, seriously.
Lady May, Shake the Frost
Also, from TC, follow you to Vergie, feathered Indians, Lady May, universal sound are some good ones to start with.
Hard times, matthew, banded Clovis, purgatory there is a lot to check out of his work
If you're interested in older country I'd recommend Marty Robbins. Primarily Big Iron, El Paso, and Ballad of the Alamo. All are great story songs
It's Chill-ders.

Listen to his Feathered Indians song,… love it!!
He has a lot of good ones. You’re gonna love Pony Bradshaw when you get to him.
Pony is a good one. I saw him back in 2018 when he was touring with and opening for Social Distortion. I'd never heard of him before that.
ya.. its called good

Hard times
Its country. But its almost more along the lines of folk music. Its more authentic than the bullshit you hear allover the radio.

Hard Times from Red Barn Radio tops this
Even if you don't review these. Don't miss them. Shovels and Rope, After the Storm. Jake Kohn, Frostbite, The version where he is standing in the woods. Sound is much better. And Colter Wall, Kate McCannon.
Good man. Don't listen to the radio for good country
Make sure you listen to Hard Times by Tyler Childers.
Try Colter Wall
it's chill-ders not childers
