I just saw Tyler on Saturday at Willie Nelson’s birthday concert in Hollywood. He brought the fucking house down with his voice. He’s a special talent.

I'm from the Ozarks. When I heard Run These Roads it hit me smack in the heart nerve. I know tons of guys exactly like the song describes. These hills, and poverty, create certain circumstances for young men and it can be so heartbreakingly bleak. While at the same time, I recall most people like that with respect and fondness. I’m and immigrant and a NYC girl all my life. Yet I’ve always liked Appalachian sound. A sound that feels so originally American. And Tyler Childers has just infatuated me. Beautiful lyrics. Beautiful songs. I think he will definitely bring attention to this music from people that aren’t the typical listener
Interestingly, some of the sound is contributed to Irish folk songs, as a vast number of the people on early Appalachia were Irish immigrants. Listen to the music on some dubliners or wolf tones songs you can kinda see the similarity.
This guy has never played a song I didn't like. He makes me feel every lyric and grove to every note. One of a small handful of artists that I can say this about. He will go down in history as one of the greatest country artists of all time.
I just saw Tyler last night at Railbird in Lexington, Kentucky. It was incredible the audience he drew in. Everyone there played well, including performers like Zach Bryan, Marcus Mumford, Wheezer, and many more. Tyler's performance was completely different than the rest. Nobody even came close to drawing a crowd like him. The atmosphere awaiting him was just different. You could feel everyone's anticipation for him throughout your entire body. There had to have been 15,000 people standing shoulder to shoulder just eager to hear the lyrical masterpiece about to come out of his mouth. When I say he did not disappoint, I mean it. Started off with Whitehouse Road, and basically ended with Lady May. This was the first concert me and the girl I will likely end up marrying attended together, and only the second time away from home together. Holding her and singing Lady May along with thousands of other people was a feeling the both of us will never forget. Tyler's music is unique in the best possible ways. Very few artists can match the passion he emits every time he picks up that guitar. He deserves every ounce of success he has gotten, and more.
long violent history is one of those albums I like having on vinyl because it's such a good vibe to just put it on and listen in it's entirety. The final track really did take me by surprise when I was listening for the first time.
I grew up in small town, Ohio, and with that, a lot of old country. Growing up I really loved it, but as a kid in the 2000s I really hated contemporary country music. after my grandpa died, all of the grandchildren started listening to some old country again because it was nostalgic. But then I was introduced to Tyler Childers, and it really opened up a whole new perspective. I deeply appreciate Tyler‘s ability to celebrate the joys of growing up in the middle of nowhere, while also recognizing the deep pain and traumas of those areas that tie to society at large. I love worship music, especially for someone who is not religious. His music is a breath of fresh air for me
Tyler Childers is true to traditions of Appalachia. I’ll be seeing him again in Johnson City, TN. I think it sold out in about 10 minutes. The hunger for honest and inspiring music is strong in the home of country music.
2019 was my senior year of Highschool, and being a troublemaker I had gotten grounded just before my parents left for the weekend. Low and behold my buddy comes and breaks me out and we headed to Orlando with $50 and hope for a good time. Stumbled across Tyler playing at some tiny venue, got $20 vip tickets and one hell of a story
I saw him in London in Feb this year and he was absolutely incredible - genuinely one of the most powerful artists I’ve ever come across and without a doubt absolutely lyrically genius.
This man’s music and voice hit hard. Amazing! Im so glad we live in a time that we find diamonds in little towns, all over the country. Diamonds that might not otherwise be found. ❤thank you for sharing your voice with us, Tyler.
I am 78 years young and have loved Tyler since I first heard him sing Way of the Triune God. I can't get enough of his music. I just wish they would play more of his songs on the radio.
Saw Tyler at the Greek Theatre on the UC Berkeley campus tonight. Incredible show. I can't get over how authentic and revelatory his voice comes across. He let his band COOK, rare to see an artist showcase his sidemen like that. He's a great guy with a huge heart and I could tell he's still a lil surprised at how loved he is.

It probably saved my life, it unfortunately would be my last Prine show. And he was my go to every year and when I was struggling or lost I could always find a answer in one of John’s tunes. I can’t help but to feel that show came together by fate to build my faith. I wish you all the love in the world
His music is so real and pure. having grown up in church and in a big family surrounded with bluegrass, gospel and old time country music, Tyler's music really speaks to my soul and restores my faith in music generally
I discovered this guy a few years ago, like you said from the nose to the grindstone and I haven’t stopped listening to him ever since, I am totally addicted and listen to him every day. I cannot wait for more music from him, Creeker is my fav but love them all
Oh yeah. Creeker is a good one! My friends in college we’re listening to him and I was like who is this Tyler Childers dude?? But then I gave him a try and haven’t looked back since!
@@thewesternside on my Apple Music account last year he was my most listened to artist and Creeker was the No 1 song. I loved your video and insight to the man himself
Greenup County Kentucky I was raised up, jus a few ridges over from Tyler so I swell up in the chest with pride when I hear him and his underrated band. Childers writing, along with his unmistakable voice is one that’ll be listened to for generations.
I discovered Tyler through Colter Wall. Their duet of Fraulein is spectacular! My guitar playing has improved so much since listening to these guys! They’re super talented. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Outstanding video! We are witnessing a legend in the making, I truly believe Tyler is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Just saw him at Two Step in Texas and although he didn’t play many of his most popular songs, TC and the Food Stamps rocked!
Aaron. Did you find Two Step Inn to be a crowd that was not as appreciative of Tyler as we are or was it just the crowd we got stuck in? I will difinaltely be seeking tickets to see him again at a different type of venue. Not a festival.
Tyler has helped me through hard times & made my good times that much better. The raw emotion & passion he sings with makes me want to cry (sometimes I do) my favorite country artist by far
I know this compilation took many hours of concentrated hard work. What an amazing outcome!! Thank you so much for this thorough and heartfelt tribute to our beloved Tyler. You did a great job. I subscribed immediately.
i adore Tyler! His music gives me goosebumps, it is just so relatable for me, like it speaks to my soul. I am so happy for him for the place that he is in in life right now!
I found Tyler Childers music by accident, just a few short months ago, through listening to Colter Wall. Colter's song "Fraulein" with Tyler Childers made me look him up after hearing his voice. I listened to Feathered Indians and kind of knew it from the radio, and started listening to the rest. I found the song "Coal" and it almost instantly hooked me. My family is from southern West Virginia, both of my grandfathers were career coalminers along with a lot of my family. I never got to live in Appalachia because my father joined the military to give his children a better life than he had, and I thank God for that every day. I do wish I got to experience living there full-time instead of just 1 or 2 weekends a month. The music he played sounded like the music I heard in the holler there and it really grabbed me. Music that reminds me so much of my childhood, my family history, and actually pays a little homage to the thankless career my family killed themselves doing to keep this country running? I was in. I dove in completely and listened to nothing BUT Tyler for about two months, specifically Purgatory, Live at Red Barn Radio, and Country Squire. He was coming to play a concert in my town a few weeks ago, and I had no idea who he was in time to get tickets for it. Then he released the "In Your Love" music video that caused some backlash, and I was able to get two tickets for presale price about 3 weeks before the concert from some unfortunate people that didn't want to go anymore (SCORE.) In my concert prep I started listening to "Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven" in order to know some of the songs he was touring for. I haven't been to church in years, and I lost a lot of my religion through my line of work. I don't consider myself atheist, but I don't have much of a belief anymore. That concert grabbed me by the throat when he began singing "Angel Band." I had my hands in the air and felt the Lord like I hadn't in years. There is NOBODY that sings the way this man does, and can project the spirit the way he does. All of his music has been burning a hole in my radio still, even after the concert. I've never enjoyed an artist the same way I've enjoyed Tyler's music and I can't wait to see him again. Something about it just makes my mountain blood run warm, and makes me feel so good. Thank you for the cool documentary, and sorry for my entire life story. Just wanted to share mine with how much his music has touched me.
You did an awesome job with this video and telling of the story. Thank you! I was a casual listener of Tyler for a few years until recently I really decided to dig in. Can I take my hounds to heaven is a phenomenal album front to back. I am trying to see him live this summer in Saratoga. Again, great video and thank you!
Best artist all around for me ! just found him few weeks ago, and cant stop listening. I like all of his songs.. Would like too hear more Gospel songs sometime..
Presentation was amazing. Tyler's music was introduced to me after a co worker heard me singing for the first time. I was playing an original song. He asked if I'd be willing to watch Tylers video. I was blown away. Replayed that vinyl session recording and within an hour or two learn Whitehouse road. I went on researching everything I could find on him for at least a month.. follow you to Virgie is one of the song I want played at my funeral. I believed from the first song he'll be around for a very long time. Ain't got no right, but I'm proud as hell of that man. God Bless him and his!
I came across his music around 2014 and have listened to him ever since. He has amazing voice. When I'm listening to his music it puts me back in West Virginia from as a kid going with the neighbors after church on Sunday to someone's house with bluegrass players on the porch us kids running around and the women setting a huge table in the yard. To my teen years and addiction. Some good and bad memories. But they all got me to where I am now. One of my favorite songs is universal sound.
I don’t know if this will ever reach Tyler but I want him to know just how much my sons and I love his music … I lost my oldest son Randy to veterans suicide Feb this year 2023 him and his little brother had bought tickets last year to see him at the Red mile Lexington Ky Randy passed before he had a chance to see him in concert Randy got me listening to him a few years ago … as Randy was goin through tuff times in his life he’d call his momma we would talk for hours at night every night sometimes we wouldn’t say a word just listen to his music …. The only thing now is I listen alone I miss my boy so much !!!! I wasn’t in any shape to go to his concert but hopefully some day I’ll be able to go … if this does reach Tyler just know you have a#1 fan in heaven and #1 fan on earth Randy’s momma !!!! Thank you Tyler for your music that me and my son enjoyed so much …as I still do….!
I like all his music. I have been listening and a fan for over three years now. I own most of his work and hope to continue as long as he continues his music.
Love, love, love his music, it is so wonderful to hear Appalachian dialect because it is fading in our region. I live in SW Virginia and his voice sounds like home !
My son is a gifted CM artist and introduced us to his music about 5 years ago. Had the pleasure to catch him this summer at Music fest Milwaukee. I was blown away and was not expecting that concert to be that good. My wife and I have been listening religiously ever since.
I like his music so much because he has relation to how I grew up, and he speaks about the lord in his songs, being in a old time church like I go to, hearing what the gospel is, knowing when someone gets ahold of the lord, you can hear it in his songs. I’m glad to know that Tyler Childers is a saved man, I wish everyone would get saved, I believe it can happen.
This man's music just speaks so deeply to my soul. I have always loved Appalachian music but when I found Tyler Childers I found myself. So many things to love but the gospel style songs changed my life, Way of the Triune God felt like the song I had looked for my entire life and defines so much of my own walk with Jesus. When I first heard Space and Time, it felt like a song from the future that had came back in time to help me through the present. Seeing him live is literally the only thing on my bucket list even as listening to recordings is always a spiritual experience for me. His music comprises at least 25% of all my playlists and I NEVER fail to stop and tune my brain in no matter how many times I hear him every day.
Great video Andrew, the first Tyler song I heard was Triune God. I loved that song and from there I have been backtracking listening to his older music, so thanks for the recommendations!
My ex girlfriend listened to Tyler Childers. I distinctly can remember one time she was playing his music while she was getting ready so we could go out, I was in the living room playing video games. I honestly never really paid too much attention to it.. for some reason it just never caught my attention. I knew she liked him very much so I eventually went on to make a playlist with all the songs I could remember her playing and singing whenever we were together. Feathered Indians, Lady May and Way of the Tribune God were some of the songs she would always play and sing along too. I will admit after the breakup I found myself listening to the those same songs. It brought me comfort and the ability to reflect on all the times I could remember her singing, dancing and playing these songs aloud. I regret the inability I had to appreciate greatness for his music like she did while we were together. I feel like we didn't have too many things we were both passionate about and thats okay, But looking back now I definitely wish I could of shared this with her. I am grateful to you Saige, without you I would have never gotten to experience the greatness of his music. And I love you.. always will
So many people will come and go, leaving little tidbits in our lives. It’s a game of five and take, my friend m. Thanks, Saige, for spreading the light to this guy. May your life bring you so many little tidbits to cherish all your days, my friend ☮️💜

I happened upon Tyler Childers a couple of months ago on UA-cam. He is so special. I have never heard of him before and I loved watching his transition feim child to mature adult in your video. Although I was crazy for his voice from the first moment, I didn’t appreciate Tyler as a person, with all of his different hair styles and looks, until I watched this amazing documentary. I loved it and I LOVE Tyler!
I've been waiting for a youtuber to capitalize on the lack of video essays on Country artists. Glad you have come to carry the torch! I do have to suggest: please remove the music in the background. I understand the purpose but I would much rather have a small snippet and then have maybe just instrumental backing tracks within the same genre as the artist you cover. I heard this once about why country music just isn't good for backing movies and stories: "Country songs tell their own story. Playing country music behind another story just creates two ongoing stories and I can only focus on one." Absolute best of luck and DO NOT QUIT!
Thanks so much man! Thank you for the advice! Might help out with trying to avoid copyright too! Hahaha. Only getting better from here. Thanks again for watching
@@thewesternside Welcome, brother. Truly love your videos! I suggest doing a video on Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours in the future. They're gearing up to release new music soon, their first after a long hiatus, and I think it would get a ton of buzz. Although, I am biased as an Evan Felker worshipper.

His music is so real and pure. having grown up in church and in a big family surrounded with bluegrass, gospel and old time country music, Tyler's music really speaks to my soul and restores my faith in music generally
Growin up in the same area as Tyler, these songs always hit home when I hear them playing
@@stuparry1 Always appreciate it! 👍🏼 thanks for taking the time to watch!
@@stuparry1 same here & How cool Tyler Childers has fans in the UK ❤
Great voice and boy can he write some amazing lyrics! I am looking forward to see him and his band live.
Heck yeah!
Glad to hear the story is almost exactly how I thought it was! Just listening to his music. True artist and rare these days
Greenup County Kentucky I was raised up, jus a few ridges over from Tyler so I swell up in the chest with pride when I hear him and his underrated band. Childers writing, along with his unmistakable voice is one that’ll be listened to for generations.
I got some family that used to live in greenup county and some still do my uncle Dave used to run a archery shop over on rt#2
An special talent that keeps bringing all of us together, just the first steps of an amazing journey while standing his ground.
I discovered Tyler through Colter Wall. Their duet of Fraulein is spectacular! My guitar playing has improved so much since listening to these guys! They’re super talented. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love his music ! Great singer !!!!
Outstanding video! We are witnessing a legend in the making, I truly believe Tyler is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Just saw him at Two Step in Texas and although he didn’t play many of his most popular songs, TC and the Food Stamps rocked!
Thank you dude, I appreciate it! Jealous of you!!
Aaron. Did you find Two Step Inn to be a crowd that was not as appreciative of Tyler as we are or was it just the crowd we got stuck in? I will difinaltely be seeking tickets to see him again at a different type of venue. Not a festival.
zach bryan is another lyrical magician
Tyler has helped me through hard times & made my good times that much better. The raw emotion & passion he sings with makes me want to cry (sometimes I do) my favorite country artist by far
I love that!!
I will bust out in tears often when listening to tyler. Especially follow you to virgie, feathered indians, and lady may.
I know this compilation took many hours of concentrated hard work. What an amazing outcome!! Thank you so much for this thorough and heartfelt tribute to our beloved Tyler. You did a great job. I subscribed immediately.
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me!! I have big plans!
Geeker is my favorite song. I love the grit in his voice. Listen to Tyler every day
Cant believe you don’t have more subscribers. Your videos are phenomenal!
Thanks for watching and getting here early! 🤙🏼

Heard him a few days ago and I'm deeeep now. Never was a county/bluegrass/folk fan, but it leaked in somehow.
i adore Tyler! His music gives me goosebumps, it is just so relatable for me, like it speaks to my soul. I am so happy for him for the place that he is in in life right now!
My favorite time frame was when Charleston girl and nose to the grindstone were born. They are amazing pieces of art!
I would pay any amount of money I have available to see him anytime and any place again and again and again.
I m from NE TN and I love his voice and his sound. So original and fresh. Keep doing your thing Tyler.
Loved this. Thank you from Scotland! We love him here too.
Thank you so much for watching!!
That’s a great story!! Thanks for sharing and watching!
Angel Band is one of the BEST songs I've ever heard and gives me chills every time I listen to it
His music makes me feel so connected to my roots. He will forever be my favorite musician of all time. Amazing video!
You don’t need to have the same background as him to appreciate his music. It’s beautiful and comes from the soul
Fellow Chillicothe resident and felt the same to here it mentioned in the album
Sending so much love to you. I am so sorry for your loss. 🤍
Tyler’s got the best music, I made a playlist with all his song and I just press play and listen.
I am 62 and i love to listen to him sing.
I live just the next county over from Tyler and every song he sings hits home for me. When your raised in these woods, there's just an unspoken bond.
Great video, off the chain singer! What a great voice. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for watching!
I like all his music. I have been listening and a fan for over three years now. I own most of his work and hope to continue as long as he continues his music.
Not a country guy but I’m hooked on Tyler ,he is an exceptional talent and makes incredible music
Love, love, love his music, it is so wonderful to hear Appalachian dialect because it is fading in our region. I live in SW Virginia and his voice sounds like home !
I'm down in SWVA too 🥰 He definitely sounds like home
I was also born in Chillicothe Ohio! Im such a huge fan of Mr. Childers!! Great video! 😊❤
That’s amazing!! Thanks for watching/stopping by! 😁
“Whell tonight I’m up in Chillicothe, down wind from the paper mill!”
The story of my life! lol
My son is a gifted CM artist and introduced us to his music about 5 years ago. Had the pleasure to catch him this summer at Music fest Milwaukee. I was blown away
and was not expecting that concert to be that good. My wife and I have been listening religiously ever since.
Great job on the video. I discovered tyler back in 2016. Been a huge fan ever since, and i continue to show people his music to this day.
Thank you Josh!!
Great job with this documentary. Enjoyable and insightful.
Thank you so much!!
Absolutely love this artist’s voice and lyrics. He is a true gem.
Yes! Thanks for watching Robin! 👍🏼
Just left his concert in Va Beach. Wow I'm still in awe. Loved it. Thank you for this tidbit on Tyler.
Great video Andrew, the first Tyler song I heard was Triune God. I loved that song and from there I have been backtracking listening to his older music, so thanks for the recommendations!
Yay!! I’m glad you’re enjoying his music and thanks for stopping by on my channel!
It was the same for me. And now he’s mainly all I listen to.
From the first time hearing “Hard Times”….I was Hooked! 🇨🇦
And I love you.. always will
Let her go already bud. Wasn’t the one will never be. Go get u as many new asses u can on the search for the juan
So many people will come and go, leaving little tidbits in our lives. It’s a game of five and take, my friend m. Thanks, Saige, for spreading the light to this guy.
May your life bring you so many little tidbits to cherish all your days, my friend ☮️💜
Hey brother just an Australian here saying how great a vid you produced, facts info and examples with each point you've made. I'm a massive Childers fan and am stoked that you sorted his history so well!! thank you.!
Thank you so much for watching! Looking to create way more videos in 2024!
I appreciate the content and editing quality. I saw Tyler Childers this week in Arizona. It was outstanding!
That's so awesome! Thank you for the compliment, it means a lot!
How much did you pay for tickets? This guy is good but not worth the $400 TM is charging for the nearest show to me
@@thomasportelle4690 I paid $170 / ticket. We waited online hours before tickets were released and didn’t get any, probably do to bots. We bought on the secondary market (9th row, center left) and got decent pricing. We could have resold for much more. At $170 he is definitely worth it. And Charley Crockett opened.
I’m just getting into country again and Tyler has been my favorite artist right up with Zach Bryan & Chris Stapleton. Thanks for the great work you’ve put into the video to give an outline for those who didn’t know (myself)!
Excellent video. Thank you!
Thank you so much!! 🙂
I just saw him play at Stagecoach on the weekend and it was like a dream come true!! his voice is like seeing the ocean for the first time, overwhelmingly beautiful!!
Me too it was amazing!!everyone was singing along word for word in perfect sink. It was the best performance of the weekend!
Jealous!!!
Knockemstiff Ohio comin at ya live. Love country squire, tyler has yet to release a song I don’t love. Man’s got raw talent that’s been nothing but refined as the years go by.
Aye thanks for stopping by! I totally agree 🤘🏼
Tyler and I were friends in Johnson County I can remeber listening to him on the streets at our local Apple Festival his always been such a sweet good hearted boy
Thank you for the history of Tyler ❤️🎶🎶❤️
Of course! And thanks to you for stopping by and watching 😄
I love Tyler so much
This is amazing. Thank you so much.
Thank you Eric! That means a lot 🙏
Adore this guy. Only seen him once in 2019 & I’ll never forget it. He’s blown up since then- hope I can catch him again one day
Only took that solo vinyl session to get me interested. His music has depth. Especially since I frequent his home areas. Also agree on Chillicothe smell.
Totally agree!!
@@thewesternsideCircleville resident here. I dont know if youre aware of his story of playing with Colter Wall at Tootles but I'd love to talk to you about it. A close friend's daughter is the best friend of Senora and they stay at his house any time they come to Chili/Cville area. I've heard some legendary stories!
I love Tyler Childers music. It’s actually really cool stuff. Thanks for making this video. I loved the stories. 😊
I actually hate pretty much all country, but I can't get enough of this guy. He's just so honest. Nose on the Grindstone is a fucking revelation. I wish more of country music was like this.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 🙌🏼🙏
Lady May and Follow You To Virgie are my favourite songs of his. The story writing history of his definitely reflects his lyricism. He's my favourite artist and he needs to tour Canada, id support every tour!
Love the approach you take bro!! Living into the stories and giving him his flowers on everything.
I appreciate that 🤙🏼
I happened upon Tyler Childers a couple of months ago on UA-cam.
Took my 13 yr old (who loves Tyler's music) to his concert in MN 2023 as his Christmas Gift. It was the best concert I have ever been too and gave me a higher appreciation for him and his music!! His music just sucks you in. He is an amazing and different music artist and I am so glad I got to experience that concert with my son!! His music in person is so much better than recorded.
Hell of a video man thanks for this keep it up
Thank you dude!!
