For me in 1982 and '83, this place was worth a thousand Disneys. Waves in pool, flumes, thrilling monorail and mum and dad happy at the cabaret. Heavenly memories.
I used to love this place. I remember being there around 1983, as Malcolm McLaren's "Double Dutch" seemed to be played on a loop. I used to think that it was a tropical soundtrack especially for the Sun Centre. "Waves in the lagoon pool!" I used to swim near those huge, dark underwater wave-machine vents when they were on, looking at them underwater through my goggles, both fascinated and terrified. I'd spend most of the day in there and then couldn't get to sleep at night because I could still feel the motion of the waves and have the scent of chlorine up my nose. Happy days! I also learned the Welsh for "toilets" and "private" from the door signs... may still come in handy one day!
Very happy memories for me too. I'm 52 now and remember being of school age in the 80s and absolutely loving this place. We used to stay at Prestatyn sands just a few minutes away and I literally begged my mum every night to go. I used to love going at night as it seemed even more cool to be there with everything all lit up. I don't think they had the water tubes when I first went just the wave machine in the main pool and of course the surfing which I loved the most... I used to sit drinking a sherry out of a plastic cup sat at the pool side cafe feeling very grown up :)
Thanks for sharing your video! It was a great place and the front is certainly nothing like it was even with the new SC2. But I want to say an extra thanks as I bought a sign from the building before it was torn down and never knew where it was from thanks to my memories being from the 80s however thanks to your short video I can see it clearly sitting there!

I can’t believe that they closed it , I went once when I was a baby , so I couldn’t really appreciate the excitement , but now I love water slides and they have opened a new one 😭😭 x
I went here as a 7 year old with my primary school and me and two teachers went up on the monorail it was so much fun! How I miss those beautiful fun days of the 80/90s!
Ahhh man, i loved this place, our family holidays were to Rhyl back in the day, there was nothing else like it in the UK at the time, absolutely amazing place, so many good memories....
Shame it's getting demolished, had some boss memories there, also about 10 of us staying in them shallys in a nearby camp called robin hood camp down the road

Remember going here in the 90s in school went down the slide head first and some girls was standing at the bottom and broke my nose blood everywhere in the pool think I was about 9 lol
We went there back in 2005 and found the place dirty and dated but I'm glad we went though before it closed! I would rather be disappointed by doing things than not!

It was dangerous that’s the reason it closed I do like the new one

Went there in the early 90s, saw the tropical monorail, I think it was closed then.
Looked great, pool was amazing...
Loved that place. Only went twice, once in a school trip and a very special birthday treat.
