Why did Boston unload Ullmark, a Vezina winning goalie, to keep Swayman?? Considering Swayman's contract is expiring. An RFA with arbitration. I guess I mean, with the Sens having just won 11 Regular time road wins for the 2nd consecutive year, are the Sens going for 3 in a row?? Essentially, did the Sens just trade for Bruins "garbage" player ... they didn't trade for Swayman. Giving up Kastelic, Korpisalo minus the 25% salary retention that the Sens retained for the next 4 years, and a 1st round pick. Allow me to say that, IF Korpi turns his game around and plays 'good' you have to realize that the Sens will be paying Boston's goaltender salary to play against them. Boston might have been trying to make salary arrangements for Swayman by losing Ullmark, the Vezina winning goalie. What did Boston know, that Staios didn't ??? I'm going to wait on this trade, and decide at year's end, after having watched another 11 regular time road win season before I decide whether this was a win or not. Considering now, that Sens are paying for Korpi's partial salary for the next 4 years. Maybe you might want to consider trading Tkachuk, but retain partial salary for that trade, and consider that a win?
They gave up Ullmark and kept sway man for two reasons: 1) cap space, 2) age. Swayman is statistically very likely to be as good as Ullmark or better. As an RFA they’re in the driver seat - Ullmark is going to be a UFA and is absolutely going to command big $$ on an extension. Boston has never had a hard time getting performance out of any goalie they obtain - they do not need two starting goaltenders either and they decided swayman is the better overall fit. Also Ottawa retaining 1M of Korpi is super cheap, cheaper than a buyout by far. Totally negligible. Trading tkachuk and retaining part of his salary? lol. You’re acting like Korpisalo had trade value like Tkachuk would. Trading Tkachuk would be a blockbuster deal and we would get EVERYTHING under the Sun for him. Also, that’s never happening. Korpisalo was a terrible goaltender last year with almost no trade value.
He had one good year but I admit it was a crazy one BUT the rest of his career Ullmark is around .916% average and Boston has a much better defense than the Senators so don't get too excited here.
So last night we brought in Ulmark, got rid of Korpisalo, and moved from a fourth to a third round draft pick. Now that's a really great day!

Think you need to go outside and touch some grass there Jim.
Lol😂..one good season, your a casual it seems....his whole professional career he's .917 . Do some research.
He was good on a horrible buffalo team. That's why the bruins signed him.......
