    Otro gran vídeo Stefano, interesante y didáctico. Soy de los que piensa que observando , se aprenden muchas cosas del comportamiento de las aves, sus movimientos, perchas habituales, etc. Luego es cuestión de una buena planificación,, paciencia y tesón. Si no salen las cosas al primer intento, ya saldrán mas adelante. Ahora corren momentos malos aquí en España, toca quedarse en casa y aunque se echa de menos lo llevamos con resignación. Un saludo

    I think my added advantage of being new is learning and education. I believe that even though you talk about bird photography in the forest you should mention snakes and be aware of your surroundings. I live in an area that have several venomous that I may come across while walking.

    Hi stefano. With your pics using the 200-600, you do a great job with backgrounds. Because this is 6.3 at 600 I’ve seen a lot of sport photos with busy backgrounds. Do you blow out the backgrounds in editing afterwards or, if not, do you have any suggestions? Maybe you’re closer at 600 which makes it easier? Thank you.

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  4 роки тому

      Thank you! In a lot of these photos, I did have the luxury of being really close to my subjects, while also having the background being a bit further away. In situations where I can't move around to get a better background, I try to get closer. Especially with the 200-600, the minimum focus distance is only a couple of meters. If you get close enough the DOF is quite shallow, which helps to blow out the background. I never adjust the backgrounds beyond basic correction. A good technique I like to do is dodging and burning to darken the background and brighten up the subject. It's a good way of minimizing a distracting background and bringing the focus back to the subject. Hope this helps!

      Stefano Ianiro Wildlife thanks for the reply. In the video in the link here: ua-cam.com/video/wpzBAFfN5fQ/v-deo.html You’ll see that I posted a comment about this lens where I basically said that the background is too bad in photos for this to be considered a great lens as it seems the photographer was indicating. Great value perhaps, but busy backgrounds diminished this lens quality too much. Then I see your photos and they are much better. Different subject matter of course but yours are great. Just had to figure out what’s the deal here. Based on your response It would seem that for shooting items that are further away from me especially with a close background this lens would not be for me. Thanks again for your reply and I do enjoy your videos.

    Great tips Stefano! I was wondering what giant bird that was at 4:12 :) lol Have you tried the Sony 135mm 1.8 for birds? It can work for smaller warblers - especially when you crop in with the A7RIV.

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  4 роки тому +1

      Hahaha 😄 No I haven't tried it out! I've seen a few photo samples online from some backyard birds with that lens and they looked great. Have you had warblers close enough to try it out? I feel like getting one within range with a 135mm would be quite the task 🤔

    Cover your light surfaces. Rapid movements such as raising a camera is easily interpreted as a signal of danger.
    This has been observed at a range of several hundred meters.

    Also, on a serious note, I'd love it if you did occasional Q&A videos. If you get regularly asked questions, whether it's photography techniques, equipment advice, editing advice, even stuff like recommended locations you've been to or want to go.
    Being new to the photography scene, using an actual camera and editing software rather than my phone, I always appreciate these tips videos or Q&A videos that more experienced photographers put out for us amateurs. :)

    Hi Stefano how come your images are noise free even with very high ISO? What technique do you use? Can you pl tell me. Regards

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! In a lot of cases I'll try finding the brightest background I can, so noise isn't as evident. Sometimes, it's unavoidable, and if it's really bad I'll use a program called Topaz Denoise AI. If I use Denoise on a photo, you'll see it in my metadata of the photos posted in the video. Another thing is I've noticed that since UA-cam compresses the video, that noise doesn't show up as much. If you were to zoom in 1:1 on the original image file, the noise will be more noticeable.

    Trying to chase after a bird is the least successful method I've ever used. You have to anticipate its activity and let it come to you. Might take a while, but eventually this will result in your best shots. When I first see a bird I try to get a shot right away for my records. Then, I try to work out a better shot from whatever angle I need. But get it on record first.

    Hi stefano , I started out with the a6300 + sigma 150-600 c and have since upgraded to the a7r4 and the 200 600.
    The main problem I'm facing shooting at 600 is due to f stop my iso keepsngettign higher and images become grainy. I'm reduced to shoot at 1/25 - 1/150 at 600 mm .. how to decrease grain ?
    The photos of the indian white eye are on my ebird birding list ( stationary terrace birding )
    ebird.org/checklist/S66076826?view=photos

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah the A7RIV certainly isn't the best camera at handling noise. I generally will shoot at lower shutter speeds and also try to find bright backgrounds. Bright backgrounds will "hide" noise much better than darker ones. If I'm shooting at higher ISOs I'm also trying my best not to crop. The more you crop, the more apparent the noise becomes. I'd also suggest having a good noise reduction technique or software. It's definitely needed with this camera if you plan to do forest birds/work in darker environments.

      Don't you think small birds detail is lost at anything below 1/1000 ? Our city is now on 21 day lockdown . I will have ample time to experiment with settings ..
      What is your upper limit for the auto iso . I'm using 3200 upper limit . Do you think we can push it a little higher ? I tend shoot into the canopy where the birds hide in daytime .

      @@StefanoIaniro : hi , spent a lot for the gear upgrade. Still to get a proper tripod. Any recommendations for a binocular under $200 ? Or do you think I could just scope them through my 200-600 ?

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  4 роки тому +1

      @@adityabarigali You can just scope them with your camera, but it is way easier to scout and track wildlife with binoculars. I'd recommend even getting a smaller pair so they're not too heavy. It's hard to suggest a specific model, since what's comfortable for me may not be comfortable for you. You definitely have to go to a store and try a bunch of models out to see which are most comfortable for you.
