Banjo was rumoured for smash 64. Sakurai said as far back as the first game peach, Dedede, Bowser and metwto were at various development stages. Banjo and marth were supposed considerations but there's no confirmation on that. There was confirmation that banjo was planned for melee (which also makes sense when you consider all other unused 64 characters made it to melee except dedede)...but then microsoft happened...Legal issues were also why he was absent from brawl. It was hard enough just to get sonic and snake (both also planned for melee & last min. brawl additions).
No idea why banjo was absent in smash 4 since nintendo went all out on 3rd party characters but microsoft was open to the idea at the time

In every smash game, nintendo has added characters who were popular in japan but obsure in the west to test the market. 64 had earthbound, melee had fire emblem, brawl had kid iccarus, smash 4 had xenoblade.
His first taunt is just the faces they make near the health bars in the first game.

Sempai Also it took me awhile to realize this, but I think the Neutral B might work like Joker’s. Pressing just fires one. Holding it causes them to shoot from in place, most likely with three shots before reloading for them, like in the game. Then, moving to the left or right, in Joker’s cause would make him just dash backwards and forwards, but instead for Banjo it would probably allow him to freely move back and forth, but only at the speed of his walk.
Very nice to see someone really passionate about the Banjo games make a video on them, good job!

I love how talon trot isn't the default run that some would expect it to be but we all used it so much it might as well be and now it is in smash
I like how they had both in there. They should absolutely have both, I thought it was a great idea.
Thank you for this fantastic video. Not only did you point out what others (somehow) got wrong, but you also had clear video representation for their moveset. I can only hope that they somehow add more egg types into the moveset.
I also thank you very much for bringing up Dragon Kazooie. So many people seem to forget about that, and I agree it’d make a fantastic “Every other” alt Costume considering how big of a deal he was.
My theory on the Dragon Kazooie alt was that it’s likely have a slightly darker Banjo, but I’m not too sure what they could do for the other alts. I know there was a picture floating around with a Pink Banjo and slightly more Orange Kazooie though.
Some people want to ACT like they played the game I think.

I have a feeling that they might make his down air more like links, where it bounces off the players, but it'd be cooler if it bounced off the ground as well, just like the games.
I cant wait to see how they implement it, they have so many options to choose :)
By default, that D-Tilt that makes Banjo slide, is not a Smash attack because no spark appears when it initiates. Smash attacks (and a few other manoeuvres) create sparks.

Side-B While airborne could be Beak Bomb. Instead of the golden feather shield on the ground. Having the same horizontal movement.
Or will they just activate the shield and run-fall, like Bowser Jr's clowncart for example...

I think banjos "Whirlah!" backpack spin will be either his forward air, neutral air, or down smash.
if you really think about it banjo shoudve already been in 64, melee, or brawl and I have a strong feeling sakurai wanted banjo in smash long ago (along with fans). Now hes in Ult and it was a long time coming. Now, characters like Sora, Rayman, Bomberman, or another F-Zero character (hasnt been a new F-Zero character since 64 wow) is what I expect like so many fans.
But like how many Fzero games have been released recently ?
Smashes also have a little star/asterisk thing that pops up. Which can be easily seen 6:45

@@SempaiSmash Also I hope the rolling dash attack is the Tooie animation because of how it utilizes Kazooie, which would probably work better since Talon Trot is their dash.
Steve B it makes sense for it to be the banjo kazooie banjo roll because it has end lag which fits dash attacks in smash. The banjo tooie roll has too little endlag
@@Frilleon I don't think Smash copies an attack down to the frames. They could easily use the Tooie animation with lots of end lag.

Honestly I think the Wrench from Nuts & Bolts could be used to fill in some attack spots that wouldn't have a clear move to use. Like their neutral air could be the midair front flipping attack from Nuts & Bolts while perhaps their down smash could be the ground attack for the wrench from the game.
@@InLovingMemoryNY already too late for that, cuz when you look at Banjo's house in the background of the Spiral Mountain stage, it is modeled similarly to the way it was in Nuts & Bolts. Also the trailer ends with a wall of Jiggies that look like the loading screen of the same game. Smash acknowledges a lot of points in a character's history, whether it is a high or low point, with good examples being how Ultimate put the Star Fox crew being modeled after their appearances in Zero or Samus still using her Other M appearance dispite both those games being awfully disappointing to a lot of people.

In regard to moves I’d like for them to have, I wanna see some Solo Moves become a part of their move set. Pack Whack Nair, and Wing Whack Uair, would both be perfect. For the latter, have Kazooie pop out of the backpack before the spin for an extended hit box. Also, Beak Buster Dair, Rat a Tap Rap for Fair (yes, again), and Bill Drill DThrow. Taxi Pack can be their Grab maybe?

Flip back into banjo running on the transition to the roll, or just have kazooie roll with him. I dont think something like that would be any problem for nintendo to pull off. They're pretty good at making smash characters look fluid at this point.

but I think Banjo can do whatever action after spring pad kind of like Megaman.
This could possibly mean chaining spring pad into wonderwing for an actually pretty versatile recovery.
I like it, I mean in the original game he could anything out of a jump. Yes it could end up being a great recovery.

@@SempaiSmash i think banjo looks great but the graphics for the stage look really bad when you compare them to all of the other stages in ultimate. Ultimate doesnt have the best graphics but for the most part they are really good. Look at the grass. Look at the rocks in the background, its much more of a downgrade then any other stage or dlc stage we've gotten so far.
Hopefully its only because its an early showing of the stage and its cleaned up by the time it comes out. Because i have huge nostalgia for banjo.
Now I hope they add Conker as well

Believe it or not, banjo had a loyal following in Japan too, no where near the hero but popular enough to be a liked choice, seen a Japanese man nerdgasm on stream for him. It was weird.

Considering special variants exist for characters, maybe side-B in air could be beak bomb since that would make more sense than sudden air wonderwing.

Up-B in air would make more sense to be a maybe 3 red feather resource flutter instead of magic jump pad too. Like a more linear R.O.B. Up-B.

Beak Buster is a solid hit that spikes and bounces off of shield like Greninja, Bill Drill doesn't spike but does massive shield damage
