- When it comes to street food in Phuket Town, you are spoiled for choice. If I had to pick my favourite noodles, though, they would have to be the Pad Mee Hokkien at Mee Ton Poe or the Pad Mee at Bee Ko Lan. Combined these shops have a totall of 176 years experience between them!
What I want to know, however, is which one is going to be better for tourists so I've enlisted the help of my good friend @PaddyDoyle. to make the choice for me!
Mee Ton Poe now has two branches but the original is still one of the best Phuket Town restaurants. I say restaurant but it's more like street food with a roof. These have to be some of the best noodles in Thailand!
We ordered the Pad Mee Hokkien - Yellow noodles with seafood - 70/80 baht (£1.35 / $1.85)
Other recommendation:
Satay Moo - pork satay skewers with peanut sauce - 60 baht (£1.35 / $1.85)
Both dishes were delicious.

Mee Kon Lan (หมี่โกล้าน) has been serving up the same handmade egg noodles to their faithful Phuket customers for over 100 years in Phuket Town. We tried a few different types of Thai noodles, which were all delicious but the star of the show here are definitely the handmade bamee (egg) noodles.
Mr Haiboon is the third generation of the family to prepare the noodles using the same recipe as his grandparents brought to Thailand from Southern China over a century ago. Along with his brother and sister, they are keeping this family tradition alive.
We ordered:
Bamee Phad Sai Kai - Stir fried egg noodles served on a raw egg with pork soup - 65 THB (£1.35 / $1.85)

Rad Na Sai Kai - Stir fried wide rice noodles with gravy on a raw egg -

Noodle perfection in Old Town Phuket! Everything looks so delicious! Spicier the better for me. I like it Hot!!!! Good to see you hanging out with Paddy You guy bring out the best in each other! Back in my day, not being in any way fluent in Thai, the various dishes were demonstrated out front behind a glass cover, rather that pictures on the menu, and that's how I would pick my meals. I also love what Paddy said about adding the chili mixes to a dish that was already perfection.....it never changes the flavor in a negative way, but rather just elevates the already would have satisfied most folks.

Phuket always gave me a strong "tourist trap" vibe so not considered heading over there before, so nice to see a different side to it, duchess. I think both places looked proper lush tbh, birds getting into the sugar is fine with me as I've never added extra table sugar to any Thai dish before lol

There were so many streets and restaurants to choose from. Ended up at Tom Yum Goon on Soi Phangnga had one of their famous dishes. Food was well seasoned and spiced perfectly.
Look forward to another trip to Phuket to find more whole in the wall eateries you’re recommending.

I'd love to be able to read Thai, The times iv'e walked past places because of me not knowing ,Watching you over the last few months Gary, I know i'm missing out on some great food and has given me endless info on a whole new menu, For when i'm next in Thailand. What paddy was saying about people being put off ,different story but ,I learnt early doors when i was on the back Soi's of Patong and was slightly put off with the blackened walls /cookers and woks in this open air Restaurant .How wrong was i ,Best food ive had in Thailand to this day and it was packed full of Thai's every day which speaks volumes .Thanks once again for your time 🙏And Thanks to Paddy for putting me onto your channel in the first place 👍

Had Mee Ton Poe today for dinner. It was good! The noodles are incredible. I have to say though... Khao Soi still tops it for noodle dish 🤌🤌 I can't believe so few southern Thailand places have it.

You should try Kuala Lumpur style Hokkien Mee. It’s a braised fried noodle. The noodles are slightly thicker egg noodle which is first fried than braised in stock resulting into a thick gravy then served with crunchy lard bits.

@@theroamingcook its on the right hand side very close to sukhumvit. It’s in an ally way. I’m leaving the states and moving to Poland. Hopefully I can get back to Krung Thep soon and see if it’s still there.

easy hey guys if your wife is thai,,she always order all the food.finally a nice running egg in your noodle soup Garry.squid must be lightly cooked otherwise it will be tough..haha ,Paddy think he is Marc Wiens.. well the second eating place is for advanced eaters 😂, they don't look at hygiene, take everything with their hands without gloves or tongs, but the taste will be good, real thai ..prefer to pay a little more, but it's safer to eat, so I think, though I've been used to that food for 35 years.haha,but i love the bird 😂
