The card is used for land entry, not arrivals by air. They will not ask for the card unless you are entering the US by land. Also, they will background check you for your entire life, not just the past 7-10 years. I had a situation when I applied in 2023. I was conditionally approved, went to the interview, they asked me about the incident from 1988 and I honestly had forgotten all about it. Based on what they found, I was denied. The interviewer did say I could appeal, but there was no timeline on appeals. Fast forward 16 months, and I received an e-mail from TSA stating that my status had changed and to log on. The person who handled my appeal agreed that since there had been no additional issues for me since 1988, I was not considered a threat. I received my approval for Global Entry, and my new number. I already had TSA pre-check, but because I now have global entry, my CBP account was consolidated into the new number. Very informative video!
