Will it be a logistical nightmare to do a video maybe with a couple of (high rev) southpaws using urethane to show us how to recognise wet/dry caused by carrydown, and the strategies to deal with it? (Thinking about it, doesn't have to be southpaws)
I've done a video on this before kind of?? I know I've talked about it, but yeah showing it is a different story. I did a video a few years ago on lane conditioning for tougher conditions, and I showed how to properly break down a lane and what it looked like when I did, then I switched to a fresh lane on the same condition and showed what a nightmare it was without being broken down first. Not really what you're after here, but it helps in the mean time at least? The video is called "USBC OC Team Event: Proper Lane Transitioning Tutorial & Demonstration" Generally the best thing to do in carrydown is treat it as hold. It takes such a small amount of oil to make the ball skid that you're never going to find anything to consistently dig or finish through urethane carrydown, so use it as hold, get on top of it and straighten your angles out if you can.
@@LukeRosdahl I probably did not properly understand that video, then (story of my life, huh?). I think I got what you were doing with the Pitch Black and Purple to condition the lane, but all I got was that when that line dried up, you switched to reactive and moved 5 boards in, but still kept the same breakpoint? In my situation I was throwing a U2 targeting around 11 at the arrows aiming to break around 8 board (on a house shot), and when it was reacting too early I moved my feet left until it refused to return anymore. So I switched to my Idol Cosmos and moved in both feet and target, but miss left and it bit sharply. I hit my line and it refused to shape back, or did it weakly and left heaps of weird (to me) 7s or 8s or 9s. Try to move my target right and it bit again, going brooklyn. I guess I just need to see what "getting on top of it" with straighter angles is supposed to look like? Or do I have to be in damage limitation mode from there, expecting single pin leaves and practice picking them up?
Yeah you missed some of it it lol, one point was drying up the outside BUT also throwing urethane to get the backends to slow down, to intentionally create carrydown which creates hold. That both created predictable friction up front but control down lane. You just can't really move left on a house shot when there's urethane because that's exactly what's going to happen. If you get it in, it's going to hook, but if you get it out, it's going to hang. That's why you need to get straighter and use the carrydown as hold rather than trying to fight or dig though it. There's nothing special to see really, because it's going to look a bit different every time. Just instead of moving in and trying to make the ball hook, you play straighter and walk it in. Sometimes that means getting really straight, sometimes that means playing straight up 10, etc. It's not easy and yeah you're going to leave some single pins, but there's no real key or special specifics to it.
@@LukeRosdahl Thanks, Luke! Took your advice, which my coach basically confirmed, and moved back out with my U2 when I started to recognise the wet/dry happening. Made for a far less frustrating practice, and I could concentrate on freeing up my swing (which is what coach wanted me to work on). I had been trying to crank on the ball before, since I was psyched out by the lack of shape towards the end of the practice.
yes. It's a much bigger core, but a weaker cover. The Envy Solid cover is stronger than the TourV3 cover, as the TourV3 cover is an updated version of the covers from the Obsession Tour and Web Tour. The Huntsman Tour core is a big core, but the weaker cover provides that shape. I have the Envy Tour and I'm even thinking of getting this.
Man I showed it on the screen with the name and the price and the discount code lol, on coolwick its the "DBV" design, and Rosdahl10 is the code you'll enter at checkout!
would this one be a ball to go a little closer pin to PAP because of the lower diff? For instance, maybe I'd go a little further away on a super strong ball or something to have more shape...
I wouldn't necessarily go stronger on the pin because that's going to drop the rg too which is already low enough. If you want to juice it a little I'd mess with the drilling angle and val angle rather that going stronger on the pin. Of course if you're going to do that, might as well just get something that already backends a little more rather than trying to milk it with a layout
Nah, Angel doesn't have a Hyroad at the moment, but I can at least tell you the Anger is a couple boards stronger and is a little sharper, but very similar idea. Just like an "angrier" Hyroad, pun intended lol.
It's like a stronger mildly asymmetric IQ Tour, rolls/shapes a ton like it, just an arrow stronger and a little firmer on the backend. Rounder shape vs the more arcy shape of the P2, much closer on strength, just the asymmetry gives this one a firmer punchier move down lane. Not remotely in the same territory as the NU Blue though, so unsure why there's a question there??
Possibly. I never got along with the Envy because it was just too early and slow, this one is more workable and I had a good night with it tonight in league. They roll very similarly though, so different enough to make a difference for me, but actually different enough if the Envy already works for you . . probably not unless you keep them at different surfaces
Not complaining, not trolling, just a little constructive feedback. I assume you're probably aware, possibly already fixed it for future videos by the time you caught it, but just in case... It's been 2 or 3 videos in a row now, where the audio is not properly synced to the video. Unsure if that's an editing issue, software issue, or UA-cam compression issue, but just wanted to let you know, in case no one else has. I didn't see anyone else bring it up in the comments.
For the live com stuff yeah, it's a little off for some reason. Seems like the longer the original/source video is, the further it gets off for some reason. I've caught and adjusted it before, but sometimes it's hard to tell in the editing when it's off because usually it's just off to be annoying but not off far enough to catch if you're not really paying close attention.
The numbers look eerily similar to an Ion Pro. What's your thoughts on it vs the Ion as a fellow IP owner? The IP looks noticeably more angular and clean from up here
Well the Ion was Storm finally trying to get something competitive with the Obsession and Envy Tours, and Hammer just putting out another ball along those lines. The Ion is significantly cleaner and weaker, not remotely similar, and just not very good besides that.
Love the shot for shot comparison between the two balls!
Gives a clearer picture to the verbal descriptions!

Can’t wait to get this bad boy 👏🏾🔥
I’m excited for this one
🤯 looks amazing!!!
Hammer always steals the show with these releases smh
lol two 9 pins is pretty interesting to do Luke. That ball is amazing 🔥
Definitely a top 5 wanted ball for me. Hopefully Santa is generous this year.
I haven't grabbed any newer balls for a while. Think I might pick this up.
think im going to pick this ball up monday
Envy Tour is a GOAT ball… Hammer Tour looks great as well…
is it the core shape that makes the effect tour like angles a little more than the envy?
Maybe, I think it's more the cover, envy is just earlier and smoother so that's most of it I think
yes. It's a much bigger core, but a weaker cover. The Envy Solid cover is stronger than the TourV3 cover, as the TourV3 cover is an updated version of the covers from the Obsession Tour and Web Tour. Well it's really not THAT much bigger of a core, cover is still strong but definitely cleaner than the Envy cover
I need one and I’m going to pretend it’s my Fuze Eliminator replacement
Lol yeah it does look like the Eliminator . .
God it looks so good! I love my envy tour. But, this is just sexy.
Considering buying this ball and I recently joined a bowling league at royal crest….seems like a sign! 🤣🤣
That vegeta shirt is fire where to get?

Any idea how this differs from the Scorpion Low Flare? It looks a little earlier and smoother. Just wondering how the two compare.
Yes, definitely earlier and smoother, this one of course has some asymmetry which beefs it up some, so it's a few boards stronger for sure.

When you post the hammer anger review, could you compare it to the Hy-Road or Hy-Road Pearl?

How would you compare this ball to the IQTour? To the Phaze II? Hammer NU?
