    This turned out gorgeous. I had a printer’s drawer about half that size years ago but gave it away and now I’m kicking myself. Adding the ephemera in the background is a game changer.

    Well Katherine, I am officially INSPIRED! Can't wait to apply some of your ideas to display some of my smaller items in a new way...I usually keep them in my "treasure boxes" to open and dig through... BUT NOW..gosh I am thinking of a few ways to go vertical!! 🖤🤎🖤🤎

      Yea go vertical! I am pretty sure this will be hung on the wall after Halloween. 🎃

    LOVE the idea of adjusting the display box!! I have so many but often think that they boxes are too small. I know what I'll be working on this weekend :)

    We think the same, if I buy something I get comments asking if it will go in my home. I say no, it’s an eclectic mix of things I find beautiful to me. Thank you Katherine. ❤

    Yes I am inspired! I have boxes full of stuff. I even put a whole bunch into a gumball machine that I keep in the living room and people just peek inside to see all the little bits in it. I have to find a printer's case! I was an assistant production manager at a printers for years! I should have grabbed one before they threw it all away! But I do have some printer's letters and even a tiny spider web stamp that must have been to some kind of an old ad. They will all be added. And I love that things stick out and have dimension - even the sitting doll like a shelf sitter! Great idea!

    Oh wow Katherine!! I loved watching you put this together, and then see the fabulous finished product. ❤️ Everything you used was so perfect for your theme, and the ephemera for the backing finished it off perfectly!🥰

    You did a fantastic job creating the ephemera collage in the background with all of the curiosities that you collected. 😍 It looks fantastic with your Alice in Wonderland vignette. Wonderful video Katherine! 💕💖💕😍

      Thanks for stopping by! It came apart fairly easily but because of age some nails were stuck and some wood was already broke in spots. Just kinda follow its lead on what will come out and what won’t.

    Can I come and live with you Katherine? It’s all fabulous! Did you know that early museums started as curiosity cabinets? The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England is my favourite. Take care darling xx

    What a fun project, Katherine! The ephemera part was hours well spent bc I love the same kind of cut and paste collage project! This Shadowbox “ Cabinet of Curiosities” came out great! So weird- I was thinking about an Alice in Wonderland Halloween party for the grandkids! Never connected the two before, and there you are doing it! 😂You even have a white rabbit and rose in your Shadowbox. ( It could have tiny paintbrush and a drip of red for, “ painting the roses red” song by those card characters!)😂ooooh, you’ve got me really thinking now, girl! Drink Me!😂🫙and shrink down into your collection of littles. Just what a really talented “Creative” like yourself does so well- inspires! Thanks for a great video! I’ve been waiting for you to start your Halloween and watching your last year videos. That headless horseman tablescape with glowing green depression glass was AWESOME too! Ok, I’m going to go rewatch this bc I was so excited that I missed a lot!👍🏼😂🎃🖤🧡👻🕸🦉🕷

    Wonderful,Wonderful, Wonderful! ❤️ I have one up with my littles. But I have another empty one and bless you Katherine for doing the ephemera behind the insert new project for me! Can’t say when it will get done but boy do I love this idea instead of seeing just the wood background❤️ Love your creativity it’s awesome!

    Hi Katherine. I love the cabinet. All your little smalls and goodies are amazing. I love them. I have two coke crates i sat straight up and keep all my littles in it. I collect wade whimsies and have them in one. But i have a ways to fill it. But one is full though. I appreciate you setting up the display with us. Take care.

    I have a question - what type of adhesive did you use for the paper and what type did you use to keep the small items in place? Thanks for your help :)

    • @KatherineYoung
      @KatherineYoung  2 роки тому +1

      I used Aleene’s for the paper and e6000 for the trinkets that didn’t have the 3m command strips.

    Wow! I admit, I have mixed feelings about taking apart an original type drawer, but what you made out of it is gorgeous! Mine just has a few things and lots of empty spaces due to the small size, but I love it and have had it for many years. My cousin in Berlin has one that I would love to have but is too large to ship back here in an affordable way. Maybe I should talk to her next time I am there... She is not a collector or I would make that a project next time I am in town.

    • @KatherineYoung
      @KatherineYoung  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah I do often think before repurposing vintage if I am destroying something needlessly. But I know this drawer will never be used as a drawer again since it has been separated from the cabinet. So whatever I do with it is kinda the last hurrah. It didn’t even have a true backing any longer. It was just cardboard I used. If I keep this in my home from here on out now I think it found a nice new purpose! It was a really fun project to tackle! Could be fun to do with your cousin for sure.

      @@KatherineYoung it came out grrrreat !! You are so talented. Mine was given to me by my aunt many moons ago. She was an editor for a big publishing company in Germany, so it does have a special meaning to me. But I admit, I struggle with filling all the compartments, because it is not that esay to find little things that I also want to display.
