When I first saw this ThinkTank Airport Navigator I thought it might just be the bag that replaces my shoulder bag. I was partly right and partly wrong. Click the link above to read a little morre about this bag.

I fold the thick part of shoulder strap in half and tuck it in the cover that goes around the extending handle. It works perfectly.

They updated the bag. The new one I bought this week has pockets on the outsides. I plan on using 2 for weddings, one for me and one for my assistant vs using a larger think tank airporter.

Great demo Jared so thanks! If I may, here are some of my own tidbits:
I'm test driving this bag for air travel to Italy to compliment my second carry-on, which is currently is a Tom Bihn 'Tri-Star' shoulder bag that is hard to beat.
Onward: I agree the strap is oversized and slides off the shoulder quite easily. If I decide to keep this bag, it will be based solely on the use of the heavy duty ‘UPstrap’ with Kevlar ends. It fits perfectly onto this bag with a much lower profile, and tucks neatly into on of the exterior side pouches unlike the horse-harness that comes with the Navigator. Still, one has to factor in the expense of an 'UPstrap’ and determine if the combined costs with the Navigator is worth it.
About the Bag: I really like the rigid design of the bag and that it holds it shape very well and doesn't turn to mush like' some other rolling-bags. In fact, one of the hallmarks of 'Think Tank' is their heavy-duty construction. The outside side pockets are okay for lightweight items such as the 'UPstrap’ when tucked away. You simply unlatch one side of the 'UpStrap' and stuff it inside for a very clean look. The pockets are nice and plenty large enough, but they're made of soft stretch material that won't last long with over-stretching. I don't recommend stuffing it with a water bottle on a regular basis.
Summary: Overall, this bag is a very well made roller' but it is pricey, especially if you heed my advice to change-out the strap. After a weekend of playing with the generous array of padded separators, I'm leaning towards keeping it but ONLY because I decided to eat the extra cost of the 'UPstrap’. Otherwise it would be an absolute No-Go!
Conclusion & Ratings: On my personal scale of 1-5 results.
    Build Quality: 5
    Features: 4
    Value: 3
    Overall: 4.5
As Jared pointed out, there are trade-offs with every camera bag and currently I have five different bags for different occasions.

I suggested to them a bag that separates into two compartments. One that rolls but the top portion can double as a shoulder bag when you get to the location and possibly a backpack as well.

I just picked this up the other day at Allen's. I have the Airporter Takeoff that I love and a Retrospect 7. But I needed a smaller rolling case for when I go out for events with 2 cameras and just three lenses, 2 flashes and my 15" Macbook Pro. I do use their belt with some modular pieces like the one for a water bottle(R U Hot?), Speed Changer, or the Hubba Hubba Hiney(depending on my needs). Then I use the Double Slim Black Rapid camera harness. Seems like a lot to carry, yeah...but when I'm moving around it makes sense.

Really digging this bag, seems to be pretty versatile as far as the gear you can pack for different types of shooting.

I like the fact that you say what you like and what you don't like about the bag.
But I don't like many gear reviews, and gear talking. I prefer photography talk.

This bag fits under the plane perfectly sideways under the seat.

He said on his spreecast that he has heard it but it doesn't bother him on new equipment. He said that's what the warranty is for. He hasn't experienced the issues on his own, but it doesn't bother him, because if he does at some point Nikon will fix it.

do you have an idea for a bag that you can put over it for the clothes and other things you want to have with you on a journey?

I only recently bought a bridge camera Canon Powershot SX40 HS has an insane 840mm zoom, but also get tons of extra functionality like RAW and such with CHDK software. I still enjoy your videos, but will be a while before I can afford to get an actual DSLR. But at least the Bridge camera plus CHDK firmware hack lets me get all the SLR options without the lens replacements. My favorite being Intervalometer script for time lapse, and ability to override shutter speeds and go to insanely long.

I saw your review of this when you were in Germany. I loved the idea of this bag so much I checked it out, and eventually bought the Airport Security V2. It arrived yesterday and I love it. Needed a bigger bag for the 2 d800s as well as my lenses and lighting gear. Once it is packed it is a heavy bugger though. Love your reviews and thank you for posting. When are you coming to Australia?

Great review. I've been 'thinking' more and more about trying something from the ThinkTank. This one, however, is very small. I own a Tamrac Expedition series but would like to supplement it with something similar but which also has wheels. Guess I'll keep looking. Cheers.

The only compensation is that Fro gets sent the bag - we don't pay him for his opinion and we encourage him to say what he actually thinks - not just LOVE the bag... that doesn't help anyone. Hope that help! --Simon at thinkTankphoto

As a travel bag does ThinkTank thought about a top secon bag maybe for clothes or other things? Something that would fit in airplane head compartment.
    Do you have any info?

I just got a manfrotto veloce from work for when my 6D gets in, as my travel bag. it's a little tight for space with 2 L's (17-40 and 70-200) and 2 primes (28 f/1.8 and 50 f/1.4) Idk where im gonna fit my 24-70 and 6d body. Any suggestions from the fronation?

    Jared,
What camera bag you fully recommend for someone who photographs every now and then while traveling? I have a Nikon D300, Nikkor 18-200mm with lens hood, Nikon SB-700 camera flash, Macbook Pro 13'' and my iPad 2. Would you recommend the Back packs?
    Thank you for your time.

Isn't it common knowledge to slip the shoulder strap in between the 2 telescoping handles?

These are barely product reviews but mainly product promotion which he is compensated for. Nothing wrong with being compensated for promoting a product but these should not be labeled as reviews.

---> mindShiftGear [From the creators of thinkTank] find them on Facebook or the web. More a hiking bag with a general purpose top and a camera / rotating bottom section for camera gear.
