@@Happy_days01 bro. Black people don’t have a right to ask for a doctor of a specific skin color. Just like he said, it would be racist if a white person asked for a white doctor. And that’s no exception if a black person asked for a black doctor. That’s racist too. You’re taking his words completely out of context, and you’re contradicting yourself. Just like what he said. White people do get these diseases. They just affect black people more than white people, with exception to a few diseases out there. It isn’t because of Europe’s white bias doctors. It’s because a small percentage of people actually get these diseases, and an even smaller percentage of those people are black. So it’s just not a problem that has been looked into enough.
Nothing racist about that, this is just how the technology works and dark skin is a contraindication as the hair removal laser would literally burn your skin as it targets the dark pigment in body hair to get rid of them.
I am a 71 year old mom, grandmother and I started noticing light colored spots appearing on my body about six or seven years ago or sooner. My grandfather also had the same spots on some parts of his body, however I was too young to give it much thought then, I know now that it’s hereditary because of other members of my family is also getting them or already have it. I believe that it’s very little a dermatologist can do or a skin cream to help. Vitiligo is real and we just have to live with it, there’s no cure as I’m told.
Vitiligo is not a ‘black skin condition’ most of the time it isn’t noticed in white people or people with lighter skin, but anyone from any ethnicity + race can have vitiligo.
Hi dermatologist here I studied at the University of pennsylvania and other than melanin itself your skin is no different than a white persons skin and the reason there is no cure for vitiligo is because we can't produce artificial melanin or stimulate it's production naturally either
I disagree about vitiligo. It’s prominent in all races. It’s going to be more noticeable on us because our skin is darker. I have an Italian friend who has vitiligo.
exactly. i'm a white girl from Europe (won't say which country because p this is internet :)) and i know a girl who's also white, that has it. her hair is naturally black and now vitiligo made a big part of her hair white. even her eyebrows and eyelashes are partly white. and her hands and legs, ofc. it' s everywhere where you can see the bare skin.
I knew it was going to be a problem when I finished launch with a friend and he said you have something at the side of on mouth, my first reaction was that it was just food. But it wasn't. Something else was growing there, so I contacted Dr Iyhere on youtube with the help of my friend. I know vitiligo can be challenging but with the help of Dr Iyhere I found support and guidance leading to my skin pride.
Sounds like a field of study that _Black_ people should be exploring. Will never understand why Blacks have this attitude. The one about them not being able to find their makeup in the shades that complement their skin tone really pissed me off. The answer is simple, go to school, get a degree, start formulating products that work for your skin. Build something by your hands, for your brothers and sisters, inspire them and become leaders of your people instead of looking for someone else to do it for you.
If I had to personally learn everything that’s different or specific to black people for every aspect of my life I’d have no life. The same could be said for gender-specific and age-specific issues then. But if you’re a professional you need to ensure your services pertain to everybody. Imagine going to a hospital and the doctors being unable to treat you because they only studied health pertaining to just teenagers. There is a reason when the study general medicine relevant to everybody before specialization. Although from your referring to Black people as “the blacks” I already know you see black people as an “other”.
It is not that simple.. education, and access to it is just being truly opened up. Also, the conversation is about the lack of representation and consideration when it comes to black skin care. The idea that our skin will react to products designed for white skin. We already have our doctors now, doesnt lessen the need for the conversation.
“Though effective are not well tolerated by black skin” Oh it’s so true it’s hurts. I may have less and but that doesn’t mean my skin will burn and inflame once in a while
Regarding being a money-making vehicle for dermatologists, I had one (white, cis-male) who tried to get me to take an internal medication that 1) I did not need (there was no indication for it) and 2) gave me awful side-effects. When I informed his nurse (Black, cis-woman) of the side effects, she told me to keep taking the medication. I was/am sure they were getting kickbacks from the drug company that manufactures that medication. That's when I found a new dermatologist with a quickness.
For everyone who comments and will comment about being Latino/Hispanic & you have skin conditions mentioned in this video…we have black roots like it or not so this applies to you too.

I am all for more comprehensive skin care training in dermatologists which better adresses the needs of different skin types, but in a world where more people are of mixed heritages than purely italian, mexican, african, east asian or northern european I am not comfortable with a narrative that promotes further segregation.
Further segregation? Who cares what you're comfortable with. Why is it a problem for black people to want to be treated by professionals that look like them. A white person will choose A doctor that looks like them first. A fact is a fact. There are medical issues that are specific to black people. Our bodies, skin, etc are different than other people. If you're mixed with black, you're black. African is the dominate gene. Period. Get over it. We are different and should be treated as such. The type of breast cancer that rapidly effects black women is only seen in black women. You have medical doctors that still believe that back people have a higher pain tolerance than other groups of people. Black women are dying in child birth at a overwhelming rate than white women. Check yourself and go read.

I don't agree with this video, there are experts that took their time to specialize in treating esclusively skin of Colour. Maybe a few number but there are. Bame skincare for example is an entire Line founded by a Doctor and it's the only thing that really helped me with my Hyperpigmentation after wasting my time with countless "specialists".
Vitiligo is not a "black skin" disease. Nor it "disproportionately" affects more black people. It is notorious more in dark skinned people, but it affects 1% of the WHOLE population indiscriminately. Self victimising yourself won't help us all.

Your comment was completely insensitive to "black people" and is proof of the ignorance white people have in the medical field. It's not racism, we are all different and have different genetics, black people are not white people, you can not pretend that doesn't exist.
@Kirimako Tawhai ummm... I guess the t9ns of black doctors and nurses have just been killing their own for years now.
@Cray Bato What are you even trying to say?

This was very helpful and eye opening because I have vitiligo as well ❤️❤️❤️
So true. My caucasian dermatologist offers a hair removal service in his office....it's only for caucasian or fair skin patients😳🤷🏿♀️
I'd report his ass maybe he shouldn't be dermatologist if he is biased of someone's skin.

So what do we do?? I need the skin help now myself. Didn't used to. I have light patches on my face. :-( I have noticed many others with the same now.
I have some light spots on my body as well, it might have something to do with what we eat.
What about us who are going thru postmenopause and our hormones are going crazy!! Acne at 45 years old
Vitiligo is not a ‘black skin condition’ most of the time it isn’t noticed in white people or people with lighter skin, but anyone from any ethnicity + race can have vitiligo.
They love to study our spending habbits, living conditions, and swag.....but never our skin!
They DO study melinated skin. There is a skin conference on Melanin every year in Europe.

She’s 40% legal
“Though effective are not well tolerated by black skin” Oh it’s so true it’s hurts. I may have less and but that doesn’t mean my skin will burn and inflame once in a while
These people are absolutely beautiful how they are.
I am a black Dominican and I have vitiligo, the only thing that has worked for me is a healthy diet and coconut oil

Interesting video but vitiligo is not "native to black people". It happens to every race and we have the same chances of getting it.
Yep. She is just playing the victim.
Im caucasian, i have un even skin toned areas. And i have vitiligo. Plus i have extra dry skin. I pour lotion in daily and still dry

Vitiligo looks awesome though, it’s badass. Who looked at that and said “ew what’s wrong with your face?” Bro they look cool, and especially when it’s on the face it looks like a badass scar they have.
Oh and eczema is not a black skin condition, every race is liable to eczema
But I does effort blacks differently, I suffer from that too
Did you watch the video before commenting? It said that eczema effects Black people are higher rates and because they often are not treated for eczema properly, it can effect them worse than then their non-Black counterparts.
@@DianaMillan still sounds like bullshit though

Idk if it's just me but vitiligo is so pretty

Simple way to explain it white choclate and dark choclate combined!
Use natural stuff for skin. Many skin cares have chemical side effect in long term on skins. Now days people start using skin care over limits. Try to save yourself before it's too late and before seeking for help.
Thanks for posting this!
I`ve been looking for something to help my vitiligo. With the vitiligo treatment *4VitiligoCure. Com* once per week, I found joy because it was effective. I unquestionably suggest this to everybody who have also the same condition. It cleared my face right after following the remedy for 9 days..
I`ve used several products where I acquired no final results. My condition has been treated by the vitiligo remedy *4VitiligoCure. Com* which gave me excellent outcomes. It was the white spots that started to lighten first until it’s no more visible. I am looking forward to getting rapid results from my other areas of the body since improvement of spots from my hand might take more time. I have Vitiligo. And it is found equally in all races. No race is more or less likely to have it. Saying anything to the contrary is completely false. It is obviously more noticeable with darker skin, but race has nothing to do with the likelihood of developing it.
It’s more common in the black race.

Does anyone remember Dr. Katherine Treherne formally of Hampton, VA?? She was a beautiful Dermatologist of color that Cured Vitiligo back in the 80's early 90's I was a patient of hers. She cured my Vitilago... she was world renown and later died mysteriously (though they say cancer - that's an easy excuse but not accurate) The best of the best Professionals of Color are usually killed if they refuse to sell out, (like Dr. Sebi) please remember that!!! DR. KATHERINE TREHERNE TREATED AND CURED VITILIGO IN THE 1980's!!!
@W. J.: IT'S EASY, THE MONEY IS IN THE ILLNESS/TREATMENT AND YOU SHOULD KNOW!!! I DON'T LIKE THE AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM EITHER, THEY'VE KILLED HALF MY FAMILY THEY TOO WERE DESPERATE AND BELIEVING MANY MISDIAGNOSIS. Nice video and goodmorning everyone, I had a condition of leucoderma, I went to the clinic and took different medicines recommended by the medical doctors. But somehow I came to know about Dr Iyhere on youtube. So I thought to give it a chance. And that has been one of the best decisions i have made so far.
Thats what the point was sir 😒
Im as white as the snow and I have horrible eczema all over my arms
Vitiligo is not a "black skin" disease. Nor it "disproportionately" affects more black people. It is notorious more in dark skinned people, but it affects 1% of the WHOLE population indiscriminately. Self victimising yourself won't help us all.
Blame the democrats.

I understand she is trying to find a black dermatologist, that's all well and good. But why a woman? Last time I checked, black men also have skin. (This is a genuine question, if I was rude please correct me)
A patient should find a doctor that works best for their health care and alot of BW tend to look for a black doctor. I make it a point to only choose female physicians because I don't want a male.
I am highly obliged to Dr Iyhere for serving and saving people like me and many others.
