To the guy claiming Polish GROM is better because you haven't lost a man in combat doesn't mean anything. That's the dumbest statement I have ever heard. Men die. SEALs, MARSOC and GROM aren't invincible
United States Special Operations Forces I respect you & I'm not going to fight here. That's an old comment time moves on. Don't regret your past learn from it! Regrets just make make a person weaker!
@dvldogrecon I'm really sorry to hear that bro. Thank you for your service. We all really appreciate it. I'm not a Recon Marine, but I would really like to be one as soon as I get out of high school. Semper Fi, all of you guys are my heroes.

I was in First Force Reconnaissance Company from December 1966 to October 1967. We operated out of Camp Reasoner in Da Nang. I was in Second Platoon, Team Hong Kong. We were inserted and extracted by choppers from LZ Finch. I really can't related to much of this video and now I understand that Force Recon has been eliminated from the Marines.
Wait, Force Recon is out? No. There's no way FOREON is out. FORECON is the marines Ears, an eyes on the battlefield. No way will the Recons be out. Well they were deactivated and then reactivated.
+MP Frost yea they have gone to marsoc or seal shooter squads because force recon is over sadly its what I wanted to be but now ive switched to infantry

I put it this way, that damn sand got my ass more than anything. Training was righteous, during my time, and I am sure it is even better now. But, that damn sand got into every part of my weapon and body! screw the sand fleas, that sand hurt..
i just went to joint reserve base yesterday to spend night on base with drill instructors it was fucking unbelievably awesome passed my IST and im now in the dep program
Command, Orders, Availability, Security Clearance. FORECON normally operates under the umbrella of Naval or Artillery guns for sock and awe missions they also take part in DA (Direct Action) operations.
Oh ok right on. I have heard that existing recon units were getting regular grunt medics and SARCs would be sent to MARSOC school, but I didn't know they were reducing recon altogether. Thanks for the input
My Father served as a FORCE RECON MARINE IN VIETNAM. RECIEVED 2 Purple Hearts and many other medals and ribbons. I recently found his DD -214. Get a sturdy backpack, and pack as much sand or rocks as you can in it, and run 10 miles on rough terrain. Get good at swimming, then go into the ocean, swim out about a mile, then back too shore. Do those continuously, and prepare yourself mentally, and you might have a chance of being Recon.
BloodstainedSinner, not even. LMAO. Moose Essentials just get good at swimming. Everyone drops at the pool, just swim with clothes on, get used to the breast stroke and side stroke, get used to treading water as well. Get comfortable in the water because it's easier to fight the urge to quit on land than it is in the pool.

I was going to go that root just so I had a shot at all of the Special unit. SARC(Recon or FORECON Corpmans), SEALs, or MARSOC but decided against it. Good luck brother.
because at a moments notice they could be called to go into an operation behind enemy lines and have to use stealth so it beats taking the time to screw and un screw off because that can delay them in time and give the enemy ample time to move
@Marinejarhead14 great video but your crediting the wrong Reconnaissance Unit. All the combat footage is from the men of 2nd Recon Alpha Co. 1st Platoon, not 1st Recon BN
Theres always the navy the marines fall in the same department and you can switch over when your contract is over to SEALs if you choose too they are the tip of the spear in my book and most challenging but you do what you got to do if one door closes and another will open keep options open.
force recon is now MARSOC, and the rumor going around is that regular recon is slowly going away. MARSOC is actually expanding its number of operators.
i was thinking the same thing because i were glasses to laser eye surgery would be perfect. but how long will it take you to recover from that laser eye surgery?
Alex shin, you are incorrect about the requirements to go to a Force Reconnaissance Company. You do have to meet certain qualifications that other recon Marines not have but combat deployments are not one of them.
I heard MARSOC was being reduced greatly now a days too, and the Corps was reverting back to Force and Battalion Recon units. I'm not positive about it though, just wanted to get someone else's info on it

Well about the m16 you are right, is a pretty obsolete gun (but it was in the pictures anyway), but the m4 is still widely used by marines.
How could anyone dislike this video?
