- This is how I animate a breathing idle cycle! It's one form of "keep alive" that can make sure your chartacter is moving for a reason, and not just because you want to add extra motion.

In three years, I went from having absolutely no experience in 3D Animation to working at DreamWorks Animation Studios teaching just about all of the 3D software used to make movies! After 2 years there, I left to try freelance / independent content creation on UA-cam for awhile, before I head back to Feature Film!
This is my journey- the entire process from when I decided I wanted to be an animator until I eventually get there, and everything along the way that will make it possible.
Whether you're chasing a similar dream, or just interested to see where mine takes me, subscribe to follow along with the incredible journey that it takes to become an animator!
You will not be disappointed.
Keep up with the action and connect with me on social!

Yea i edited the video
@@sang6758 lmao who are you
@Gaming Mania pluffyfx is the editor, the person i was replying to was someone else
HOW THE HELL DID YOU MAKE ME FALL IN LOVE AGAIN FOR A FEW PIXELS?!?!???!
Been watching your maya tutorials and how to be an animator even tho i am just a casual blender newbie, yet every video of yours teached me alot even if i use a totaly diffrent program !
These have really been helping motivate me to get through the modelling part and texturing part of my project I'm working on, your hard work and tutorials are very appreciated.
The Legend of Zelda *BREATH* of the Wild
This is the first time I find an animation channel that actually goes in depth of how to construct animations. Great videos, gonna go binge all of this now...
Wow.. the eyes idle and eyes blink animation looks beautiful..
I love it how hes like "dont panic" and im like "boi if i touch it like tht, ill miraculously will somehow break the rig OTL"
Great walk thru, Sir! I'm going to have to re-watch your node manipulation hookups again!
On the note of scaling bones, I too was never told you should scale bones. And in film, I highly recommend it!
There is a caveat if you animate the scale on bones for video games. If you let your TD know ahead of time it's usually OK and they can mess with your animation export. Typically game engines, do not like the animated scaling of bones/controllers/joints unless they're built for it. I’d love to hear a TD’s opinion scaling too.
I'm pinning this comment because I totally forgot about that side of it while filming! Great call! Also anyone reading, go watch The Broken Tangent on Twitch ;)
You have no idea how your videos have helped me! Using animation layers really gave more “life” to my homework animation :) Thanks and greetings from México!
is it weird that actually this video motivate me to do my assignment, lmao.
I really like the eye detail it looks really cool ^-^
It’s finally here!
Still learnt a lot after months of study. Thanks a lot :)
The iris details are actually pretty neat. I'm pretty certain in Unreal this can be done with some shaders.
I was literally struggling with this for the past month. Thanks a lot for this!
I was looking this for sometime didn’t find right video finally. Thank Wade Sir 💪🏽
thanks
LAYERS!
Layers!!
Cool tutorial. I use lightwave 3D.
Very educational, thanks!
amazing sir, m bignner and ur videos guide me a lot and make my work easier and faster , thank you
so much details!! Thank you~
Eek you're an amazing teacher thank you so much!
one of the few times i'd personally use layers
thanks for this :)))
Super helpful video, thanks a lot for this! :)
It’s really helpful!!!
You're the reason I started animating, I'm not that good at it,but I won't give up
People getting anxious about animating and then they realise that modeling, texturing and especially rigging is 80% of the process.
May I ask what's the background music?
It's pretty relaxing:)
Great video champ! Also, have you ever considered using Blender for a video or something?
i have no interest or skill in animating but damn i've been getting recommended tons of zelda & link rig animations these days lol.
Are you actually a Knight or is "Sir" just your first name? ._.
it is his first name
Well my legal name is Lord Dylan Roemmele (Owning land in Scotland legally makes you a Lord) so he probably was knighted by a legit crown or some company legally knights people.
instead of explaining what you have already done, it's much better if you do these stuff from scratch as you explain it. you have animated the whole scene before, how do you expect us to understand the process?
*ah yes, the "Breath" of the Wild*
I was taught to never touch scale controls because most game engines can't do scaling on bones.
Where did you heard that?? I never seen a game engine that can't handle scale lol
Now just animate every atom of its body, so it can be really alive!
I dont know how to set this up and do the IK spine bender on the rig and also the restraints for the hands on the sword.
So helpful! Thanks!
Can anyone point me out to a rig thats really flexible around the face, I need controllers for cheeks chin upper and lower lips and eye lids. I wanna make a dialogue shot, pretty zoomed in on the face.
Do you have a video on how you texture?
I do have one that dives into the basics: ua-cam.com/video/eubm-4IL_Fw/v-deo.html
Hello Sir,
I really like your way of style to explain the animation.
I really like this breathing anim to keep alive the character
but I've a question can you please explain how did you make
the different styles of linking which can control the IK of chest
and shoulders Translation in the next video. If it's possible for
you. If I missed your previous video in which you already explained
this linking can you please DM me. So I can check it and start work on it. .
I also send you the mailed you for the previous vlog. Kindly also share
your precious thoughts on it. I hope you'll reply to me sooner and thanks
for this video I'll definitely share with you, this breathing style of anim.
Regards
Simran Jeet Singh
wow so that link rig got taken down??
whats this song its so chill
Most game engines don't allow skelletal scaling in animations thats why you wer told not to scale at some point probably.
Hmm, I never knew that, good to know lol
Goddamn Link is so cute...
Could you do how to clean and add animation in game eninge like unreal?
Sir Wade please answer this animated breath shot you didn't do it in Twitch by free?it is in Patreon?all of your tutorial in Patreon is not free?
Hello, the locator of the adominals to which you link it?
Can you use Blender
are you a knight?
like and subscription))))
i use blender but this helps a lot thanks ;)
Same :D Also use blender and still learn a ton from Sir Wade :)
Most of this guys content is general animation that applies to 3D animation in general :P
@@learning3d742 I've wondered. Is Sir his first name? Or a self-imposed "title"? An artist name?
what program is he using?
Thanks
So... how to make a dead character that's alive
5:30 go back.... And you tell me what is happening there...
It looks like you managed to use nodes to assign the translation to an empty
Some how that looks way easier than parenting... Having a object represented by a node so you can actually see what's happening and simply click and drag the translation to another object node
YOU GO BACK AND TEACH ME RIGHT NOW
Quick explanation - he has unlocked the translation channels on the clav controls then linked those translations to locators in the node editor. You can achieve the same thing by using a ‘point constraint’ which just affects translation channels (not rotate and scale). Hope that helps
Wow. You're so pro that you straight up use a pentablet to animate de Graph Editor.
Jokes aside, It's pretty satisfying to watch the amount of detail you're able to put in on a simple idle animation. Keep it up, Wade, you truly make a great job bringing my hero alive! ❣
i'm drawing breathing by hand and have no clue wtf i'm doing but this helped thanks!
Can this help with us lowly SFM noobs?
wow, the pupil blow up & shrink!
Like a tamagotchi.
I'd like to see more stuff like this please! You're the reason why I am animating! Im not that good but you're giving me morale
Thank you so much for your lessons, but could you add English subtitles, please?
Why are you so good?? your tutorials are awlsome!! just keep this way............
Thanks :)
Hey there, keep up the great work.
I found out about you about two weeks ago and I am starting to watch more and more videos.
I am learning to animate after I programmed for over 10 years now. So it's quite a change. Right now I am learning the fundamentals (bouncing ball, rolling ball, squash and stretch, ...).
It will take some time for me to put my hands on a character but thanks to you there are some I'd like to check out. But since Maya is quite heavy on the money I am using blender right now. Am I right to believe that most of the models/rigs you use/present are incompatible with blender? The Link and the dragon (which name I forgot right now) for example? I don't want to pay some money and realize I can't use the rigs.
Maybe, just maybe, Maya Indie will be released at some point in Europe...
Greetings!
A link to the link
very helpful great video I also struggle a lot with keep alive
Thanks you so much ! , its so helpful !
Neat!
In the head moving when he looks at us his lips turn up a tad. Our boi is happy OwO
Hola wadee. Me encantan tus videos. Son muy explicativos e interesantes. Puedes poner subtitulos en español pleaseee XD saludos desde Uruguay 😁
