Jamila Salimpour: A Tribute

Jamila Salimpour was not only one of the most influential belly dance instructors of the 20th century. She was also a loving mother and grandmother... and a force of nature. She passed away peacefully in her home in December 2017.

I am so very sorry for your loss. As a Tribal Belly Dancer (solo), for many years, Jamila was one of my inspirations, regarding my poetry, dance, and music; she is deeply missed. I am in complete shock. The Belly Dance community has lost a Legend. My condolences. I will continue to Dance, in her honor. RIP Jamila :(
