I started CrossFit at 40. I’ll be 50 this November and have ZERO health issues. I contribute that to being fit for the last decade. My Doctor told me to go as hard as I can for as many years as I can.

Heck yeah! Now that is the best prescription! I’m in my last year of med school and I want all my future patients is to be able to do a burpee as long as possible. And as someone who loves doing osteopathic medicine, I love crossfitters haha I want to help people get after it as long as possible

I’ve been working out regularly since I was 15. In my mid-40s now. Don’t be scared. I’m still overall in as good as shape as I was 10 years ago and have kept my lean athletic and muscular body. The only real difference is loss in my 5K/10K run time and explosive movements (like vertical leap and sprints), but this is totally natural and expected (it’s why there are no 45 year old NBA ball players or Olympic track athletes). Best advice I can give is stay consistent, listen to your body, and dispense with “big weight” (ego lifting) that tends to risk injury. Good luck!

Find functional reasons to remain fit. It keeps life fun. I still log and cut wood at 63. I'm stronger at 63 than 19.

You sound just like me I’ve had this fear all my life I’m 52 and I’ve been working out since I was about 16 or so. I’ve been able to maintain my fitness somehow through these years so you still have some time.

@@rickmanning8722Stronger, but not less towards injuries. Key is to be safe and push the strength needle consistently.

Thank you for this video! I am 37 years old and my first son was born three weeks ago. I am working out since ten years (eight years of CrossFit). Being fit for my child, as long as I possibly can, became my second big „why“ now. The first why is myself, as I want to spend as much quality time on this planet as possible. I feel you my man! 💪🏻

This video is what i needed. I am 42 years old, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu been training for 14 plus years with a ton of mileage in the body 😢. Your videos not only provide me the tools/workouts to strengthen my body so i can prolong my training in the mats but the mindset to keep me motivated and inspired. Thank you very much!

Appreciate the continuous stretching and keeping up with the flexibility. Lifting into an older age is good for many who can. Though the key in doing so is the flexibility. Everything is going to decrease as we age, it is inevitable. One of the reasons we can, in part, out perform the younger folks, in different areas is, we train much smarter. This has only one factor, we get wiser because we have been down the road they have yet to travel. Josh has already put this video out, training as we age,

“I’m going to ride this bus until the wheels fall off” was exactly what I needed to hear on this Monday morning! Dealing with severe arthritis in my right hip which will hopefully be replaced this summer/fall. My wheel is falling off! Looking forward to kicking ass with a new wheel ASAP! You’re an inspiration Josh!👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

JB, you ever had your knee dislocate/ blow out? It’s kind of like the knee cap blows out under pressure or after a lot of usage such as a lot of running/ high volume squatting etc.

Josh: Do you think (for the general hypertrophy enthusiast, with longevity in mind) that any and all isolation work should be supersetted, or blended with mini bits of cardio like you have here? Or is there some value to more traditional rest periods?

The other day at work I help a guy to pick up something a little bit heavy from the floor to a work table, and he told me... yeah once you get my age u not going to have energy to go to the gym.!
    He is 40... I'm 47 lol.
I get up at 2 am to go to work I workout right after work for and hour- hour and half, then I get home and do stuff with my kids.
    So there u go lol.

Age is just a number. Unless you’ve fucked your body up when you were young and stupid its just your max capacity for cardio thats affected and some strength training recovery is slightly slower in your 40s.
