    Thanks for this Eddy. Helped me to do the job. No alarm (this time!). I had the car on a trickle charger and managed to plip the plipper to disengage the alarm, prior to it deadening out. Had to use the new battery to do the fusebox-doorlatch method of getting the car power so I could open the frunk. Once in there it was reasonably straightforward... European models have an alarm that goes off when you disconnect the negative terminal if the car was previously locked. You stop it by getting power to the car and unlocking it.

    When I tried this the alarm went off and wouldn't stop. Is there a way to prevent this?

      You must have an aftermarket alarm with a back up battery in the car

      @@paulmorris1225 I'm here for this reason. Read somewhere to turn the ignition before removing the battery
