- All Quiet On The Western Front (2022) - TikTok edit style
Thanks for watching. This is just a TikTok edit I made which I decided to post here too, any other suggestions for edits or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Movie: All Quiet on The Western Front
Poem: "Boots" by Rudyard Kipling
Inspiration: 28 Years Later trailer
Thank you so much for the support guys. This is the first edit I've posted, I make them for fun and didn't expect many views at all. I wasn't even expecting 100 let alone 20K. Thanks for all the kind comments and I hope to make more soon. Any movie or editing suggestions would be greatly appreciated ❤
Honestly war might be your thing. Maybe try some older classic war movies edited together. Pick music or something of your choice that you think fits. Or you could always do my favorite. (the thing -1982) good work all around though! 👍
Great edit, easy like and sub. Excited to see what you do next. Don't have any specific ideas for an edit unfortunately. Two of my favourite films are The Lighthouse and Prisoners, so if you manage to find a good edit opportunity from either of those, it'll be an instant click from me.
Also, if this was originally a TikTok, it might be worth releasing as a UA-cam Short as well? I'm not sure, just a thought.
come and see (1985)
This was brilliant mate
Well congrats because that was phenomenal! And I haven't even seen the film lol
This is honestly the best version of this edit I've seen before.
Amen
Agreed
Yeah, because it was designed to help WWI vets with their PTSD if I'm correct.
@@JustinCage56 I'm sorry help whom?
@@kobeh6185 The song was to help WWI veterans after the war apparently. I could be wrong but that's what I've heard.
0:54 turns into an absolute horror film, perfectly chosen shots and pacing. Excellent job and well deserved recognition
That war was scarier than anything else.
Correct. We need to stop killing our brothers.
“And I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw…”
- Revelation 6:1-17
This movie was terrifying. Nothing glorious about it
@@phillipapplecrisp6415 I really want to watch it bc I do like war/political movies. I've seen saving private Ryan numerous times. But this one makes me hesitate for some reason
The way he gets progressively more maniacal as the poem goes on is both terrifying and absolute genius.
This works way better than in 28 years later, because it's not only accurate to the era, it's speaking upon the horrors of war.
I think it works just as well in 28 years because it encapsulates the repetitive nature of living every day as if it were your last
@@StormingSummer I would challenge that, i would say the very line that is repeated the most "Boots" doesn't have the same effect when it's applied to a non military film.
Yes the struggle of survival is repetitive, but the poem/song highlights something in a literal sense, the endless rythmic repeat of boots marching in sync, endlessly. The sound of men walking in step to their death, endlessly.
You could argue that’s even less true as far as WW1 goes
The poem specifically describes British Infantry marching endlessly across South Africa capturing settlement after settlement - quite literally marching endlessly - whereas the Western Front is stagnant and unmoving, rarely ever seeing an advance
In the lens of the Rage virus, survivors are always on their feet; their *only option* is to run. Even 28 years after the initial outbreak. I think that makes the recurrent chanting of “Boots” fitting for the trailer
But I still think that it works well with the scenes of the battalions marching onto the frontline, as well as those running between the trenches
@@StormingSummer Well if we are diving deeper into this poem, in regards to marching endlessly, it is not speaking upon capturing settlement after settlement, it is as it describs a "slog" repeating this more than once, moreover line "boots moving up an down again" The Soldiers are going to the frontline, and returning, they are switching out Soldiers along with replacing them. They did the same thing in WWI. I'll say this, British infantry marching and "slogging over Africa" is much closer to WWI (considering fighting takes place there) than it has to do with a boy and his father walking/hunting.
But besides that. I still believe this is a greater fit for the era and theme, considering it was written about a war only 11 years before world war I, and it was recorded *DURING* world war I. I don't dislike their useage in 28 years later, it works. But it is speaking on the exact subject in this theme, war.
And finally, the poem directly quotes that "It-is-not-fire-devils, dark, or anything, But boots-boots-boots-boots-movin' up an' down again,". The author is not scared of fire darkness, devils, or anything else, he is just terrified by the endless noise of men marching to war. That doesn't work quite as well, when you literally have devils (zombies), and darkness to fear lol.
@@Atom-Fire guys with my professional opinion, I can safely say that it doesn't fucking matter at all
this deserves WAY more views.
the video just came out
@@Jacob_W its been 3 days, and its still not got even 1k likes even thought it SHOULD
I’ve never seen an edit make a war movie look like a horror movie bravo
All quiet on the western front has ALWAYS been a horror movie. Pyscological horror is still horror.
Go back to the first film from 1930, it is one of the most graphic and disturbing movies of its era and was actually banned from several movie theaters for being such.
I agree with AtomFire. There’s not much of a line between the two.
most war movies and their trailers are horror like. the distinction here being a poem used in a recent horror trailer used in a war trailer making that distinction more accessible and obvious
My boss in the Army was a Vietnam draftee. His father was a WW2 draftee. HIs grandfather was a WW1 draftee. I was shown a small photograph taken from a WW1 trench showing skulls left to right all the way to the horizon. There is not the slightest hint of exaggeration in my statement. I did not say bones. I said skulls. You could not see the ground as it was covered in skulls.
War is horror. Hollywood just tends to romanticize war. A real war scars the people in it.
Honestly, this should have been the film's trailer
I have replayed this 5 times now
10/10 impressive edit of a older poem and a fitting use of it
It become popular again because of 28 years later trailer
The most important part of this edit is the fact that it rarely focuses on the faces of the soldiers. That keeps it more in line with the poem.
As someone who works semi-professionally as an editor, I absolutely love this. Good rhythm, storytelling, sound design, and fonts. I look forward to seeing more work like this.
Funnily enough, my lead RDC would play this poem a lot going through bootcamp. He said it was used as psychological torture. Never knew it was a poem
No shit? Same!
It’s used as torture training in Navy Seals in the US
If anyone was wondering,The song boots originates from a poem from the second Boer war,The person who made the poem is Rudyard Kipling
And the one reciting it is Taylor Holmes
After 28 years later, I really did not think of this masterpiece could be a perfect match.
this is probably the closet an edit can get to the actual subject manor of the poem
this song scared me more than the actually 28 years later trailer
This edit made me feel a burning resentment and anger at the external circumstances that were crushed on Boymer's head. In short, as if the book was squeezed to the essence of all the terrifying and horror of war and placed in 1 bottle, which is impossible to drink to the end. Unexpectedly, very strongly and emotionally!
This is what i want on youtube, like for real, i love stuff like this.
It terrifies me that such vivid writing about war can originate from a conflict before a world war. It bewilders me to consider how horrible a third can be.
With the Tech developed since the last one ISTG i hope we don't find out
Hope we don't, imagine throwing or getting hit by Saars@@nidhichauhan2956
Awesome. The descendants of the actor who performed this incredible reading over ONE HUNDRED YEARS ago should be thrilled how much attention it is getting now…
The actor Taylor Holmes had a son, another actor, Phillips Holmes, who died in war aged 35. Taylor outlived him by over 15 years :(
I love how this trend is almost 3 years old yet people still are keeping it alive
28 years later is why.
This is ten times more terrifying than the movie itself...
Especially in 28 years later
As someone who had to listen to this in a prison cell during SERE, brings back good memories
That must be insanity
The sudden stillness of this shot 1:13 after the chaos war scenes gave me CHILLS!!
I love how the 28 Years Later trailer has just begun a bunch of war edits. Amazing
I've come back and watched maybe 7 times now and I will keep coming back. I always realise at the end that I've been holding my breath. Well done. My God.
This is very impactful.
Brings to mind the famous saying, "Violence is never the answer."
However, a more accurate version of that saying is, "Violence is never the best asnwer, but sometimes it is the only one left."
you should actually watch the movie and think more about that quote.
@@FortheLoveofMonsters I've watched the movie.
Pairs well with the Alexander Hamilton quote "When the sword is once drawn, the passions of men observe no bounds of moderation". It's nestled inconspicuously in his contribution to The Federalist Papers. It's very easy to jump to violence but incomprehensibly difficult to return to peace.
'Violence is not the answer. Violence is the question, and the answer is 'Yes!'.
@@kas7145 Indeed it is.
This movie was a welcome surprise, I've seen the original and didn't know it was remade, then I watched it and it was so damn good.
"there is no discharge in the war" is the line through the poem. Nice edit!
Literal goosebumps. Great work!
That was badass. Hats off to you
this movie was an experience to watch just as you think everythings ending you click stop and theres 40 more minutes..
This gave me chills such a awesome edit…I want to watch this movie
Oh my God. This takes me back to my days in Navy Boot Camp. My RDC played this on repeat.
The sound of his voice when he goes "Try Try Try Try!!!" Omg ...wow 🥺
this is the best edit about this movie in my opinion! great work!!!
This is actually really good. Thought this was just gonna be some generic edit but it looks and feels really good.
Ngl this is way better than the actual trailer for this movie
What an Insanely good edit. One of my favorite movies plus that poem is perfect.
Gave me chills - great edit.
This was...so boss. Literal chills watching this edit even though I just rewatched the movie a few hours ago.
Showing them walking when said “Boots” is nice.
beutiful hiffy. This really gave me chills
I remember having this played to me during bootcamp in order to remind me of the horrors and cruelty of war and what i had signed up to do
I listened to this like a bunch of times and it started hurting my head, I got chills, and my ears started to hurt.
That was incredible. I got the chills.
This is bloody brilliant, mate. This audio is so haunting, perfect for this film🍻
This gave me chills. Bravo excellent work!
that was great this is my favorite movie and this is the best edit of it ive seen
This is honestly probably the best edit I've seen for this movie that truly captures the mood and essence. Great stuff!
Just watched History Mapped Out video about the seven years war and I couldn't stop thinking about this video.
This was done remarkably well, a great poem and the edit just brings it to life more and along with the narration
Honestly, weirdly, this is the only thing that quiets my mind. If it weren’t for headphones, I fully believe my wife would divorce me.
Wife: My god. He's gone mad...
your insane 💀 i'm calling the emperor!
The last time I was here was last week and it only had like 20K views or something, crazy good video, I should sub b4 you get to big and not upload
Absolute cinema
One of the best edits of AQotWF
The best edit I have seen of this poem
Rudyard Kipling is such an underrated poet.
Nobel Prize and one of the most widely known children’s books of all time?
he's literally one of the single most famous, well-respected poets to ever live lol what are you talking about
What? He is well known and highly regarded over 100 years later...
Great edit, perfectly captured the tone and theme of the movie. Haunting
I'm weirdly obsessed with this
i NEED more audios like this or any recommendations because this gives me a feeling i cannot explain, its AMAZING
Holy cow the try try try is absolutely chilling
can't stop watching truly stunning edit
This needs so much more attention
This is fantastic.
I love just how intense this combination is, and it really nails the horror of war feel, as if it was made for this movie.
Amazing edit. It truly shows a good understanding of the poetry. It's incredible how a traditional medium like poetry can be so elevated with the aid of visual images. Truly amazing. Made me shiver. I hope you will release more work in the future. Kudos. Kudos. Kudos.
Hiffy, you just made the best ww1 edit in the world, and also a listened it like 30 times when i played Verdun
Haven't seen this movie, but we read the book in high school. My twacher made it really fun. This was amazing, great work.
Wow, this is freakin' amazing
I though of making something like this when I saw that 28 years trailer, but oh man I could not have done as good a job as this. Not even close. Deserves so many views
This edit along with Alexvonrom's edit are one of the best Ive seen about this audio
i watch a fuck ton of edits. This might be the best ive ever seen.
i have marched 6 weeks in hell and certify that it is not devils fire dark or anything but boots. boots boots. moving up and down again
I legit got goosebumps, fire edit bro 🔥🔥
It's nice that the person who came up with the idea of using this "poem" from 1903 (spoken in 1915) in the 28 Years Later trailer has so much influence on other content creators.
INCREDIBLE edit!! So clean with the fonts. Great job!
Absolutely PHENOMENAL work.
If something is worth fighting for, we're gonna fight for it. Heroes will be made, people will be lost, the goal will be achieved.
If anyone was curious the audio in the back is called Boots and it’s a poem used to torture people
This is, to me, the unofficial-official trailer for this movie. Good job on this edit.
I was genuinely terrified and captivated by this. It was somehow both beautiful and haunting. I usually see all quiet on the western fronts that are sad and melancholy but this was a whole different type of realistic horror. Bravo 👏
gives me goose bumps when he says "if. your. eyes. drop. they will get atop of you"
I can’t explain what word I should said to this
You combine both visual and text that fit perfectly
Fantastic work! 👍🏼🔥
Phwoar. I usually hate fan made edits; but this is magnificently done.
Imagine if that was the actual movie trailer before boots was made popular again by the 28 years trailer?
Wow that moved me. I didn't blink till my eyes stung. Bravo.
I think this is the best edit that looks like a trailer for the movie
This is insane
The audio is perfect for this movie. Also, your text selection is very well done!
Bro this is too damn sick. Great job
Really amazing job, the atmosphere in this is palpable. Keep making, your clearly very good at it
Phenomenal edit. Only having 70k views is a travesty.
Damn, that was amazing
This is only the first video that is uploaded, and it already looks amazing with the edits
Great work brother. You have picked up the right scenes for the setting
Great edit! Its crazy to think that the original audio for this was recorded over 110 years ago!
This is the BEST EDIT so far I've seen of this movie! AMAZING job. No hesitation, I'm subscribing!
Absolute Edit 🙌
It's just perfect, although an edit of the entire poem would be nice, it's 3 minutes long.
Immaculate, just perfect. Thank you.
That Lunatic Word is used in a very amazing way
