  • After a quick ferry trip across the River Elbe, I entered a beautiful region, void of tourists. Lovely (steep) forest climbs, a forgotten war memorial and amazing lookouts. Then a quick visit to some villages dating from the 14th century.

4:38 Rapeseed also know as canola, for cooking oil. Another great adventure to places I’ll likely never get to!

I live in Dresden. Thanks for visiting and showing the area. It's still somewhat of a secret as far as tourist areas go in Germany. Love living here.

Yeah rural Germany is amazing. Last autumn I went to the region around Eisenach and Wartburg Castle. Amazing hikes there, through clefts and over hills.

I really would like to go to Germany and to explore everything in Germany as well taking a ride on the ICE and TGV high speed trains. Fabulous scenery I must say 😍

These off-the-beaten-track adventures are the best, and this is yet another gem. I bet they don't see many Scotsmen around there and it appears that (05:50) they still shoot them when they do! Lovely stuff.

Great video Scott. I'm so glad you noticed that little town from your train and decided to visit. You could turn this into a game like your tram game but instead of throwing dice you throw a dart at a map and try to figure out how to get to it and film the journey. Lol Cheers from 🇨🇦!

Scott, one of the most enjoyable videos you've made. We are very lucky to have someone that's prepared to take us to new frontiers through your journeys seen through your eyes. I first stumbled across your channel by sheer coincidence and I don't regret it. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next offering.

Excellent video Scott as usual. Those ‘peas’ that you saw was Oil Seed Rape, the crop that is also common in the UK and is well known for its bright yellow flowers in spring. The small black seeds will be harvested with a combine harvester and then they are crushed to extract the oil for use mainly as cooking oil. Being part of the same plant family as cabbages you may have noticed a mild odour of rotting cabbages.

Hi Scott. I came across your channel randomly and as a german citizen I looked forward to see these two videos you have here.
I am happy you choose this area of Germany...normally tourists will choose places like Bavaria or something.
Sorry about your experience with the no card thing...I don't know what is up with this area.
I hope you enjoyed your stay anyway.
And btw...I will be in Scottland at the end of August....a few days of vacation...looking forward to it...any hints for me maybe?!
    God bless Steffi

Fantastic video as always Scott, the fire engine is an IFA W5O which was produced in vast numbers in the old DDR between 1965 and 1990. It is very likely that it will still be in use by the volunteer fire brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr). Keep up the good work, a loyal subscriber and fire engine fan! 😊

That fire engine is an East German lorry/truck called IFA, if I anot mistaken. The only reason I know that is that they used to run in my home city of St. Petersburg (then Leningrad)... But not as fire engines...
