Hi bob ! About the 18650 you said that below 3.2v the quad is barely flyable is it because the motor doesnt have enough voltage to produce trust or is it the fc wh'os not getting correct 3.3V from ldo. I've been thinking about to replace those ldo by a step up/step down regulator to been able to use the entire capacity of a 18650 cell but i dont know if below 3v the motor could produce enough thrust to be flyable maybe with higher kv motor it would be feasible.
The problem is that in order to make the single cell work below ~3.3v enough to run the quad, you'd need to pull even more amperage out of it which will sag it even further. This is if you can even get a boost circuit to give you the minimum ~8A needed to get any kind of top end performance out of the quad. Boost circuits that provide actual amps tend to be kinda beefy which will add even more weight making the whole situation worse. You're better off just running two or three 600mah cells in parallel to get well over the flight time you'd get from a single 18650 but it's cool that it worked and for as long as it did fly

As for the 1S boards, I still like and use the old red Crazybee F3 boards, they seem to hold up better than the newer versions.
Hi KababFPV, I know you say it's good to use it with the Tiny D8 receiver but where I live it's not available. The range is not very good with the SPI on my Tinyhawk II Race, so I'm wondering what kind of range it would get with and XM+ receiver? Thank you
I think I saw another UA-cam video claiming that you could only use the Open-TX companion to calibrate the sticks, nothing else. Either way I ordered one since it seems great for quick whoop/tiny runs.
Quick (rather unrelated) question about those Stan fpv ducts. The ones you received are tpu, right? I received some as a gift recently, as tpu is going out of stock, and disappointingly received them in pla. As you can guess I broke a duct after a 3 foot crash in grass during the maiden. Seems pretty silly to send out ducts that break that easily instead of just saying they’re out of stock. Have you had better durability with tpu?
The ones I have are not TPU and I'd not recommend TPU ducts since they would weigh a LOT. The lack of durability is why I'm working on reducing the cost of this stuff a LOT....Mine are PLA and plenty durable enough but won't take a hard hit
May 5th was my birthday, and I randomly checked your website to see if your 1303 5000kv motors were in stock - they were! Snagged 4 of em! Can't wait to make a TP3.
I hope this isnt a stupid question, say i buy transmitter and wanted to bind my tinyhawk freestyle would my switches already be set up for me or would i have to go into the companian to set them up.and i mean switches like arm,lvl horizon air mode.?im kinda a noob,im using a jumper t8sg v2 and sometimes its a pain i have to reverse channels and half time subtrim doesnt work.just want something simple.
Could you double check this for me? Albert Kim said you cannot charge from the USB jack. He also had his copy like 6 months ago. He also states that it has opentx but it is limited capability, like gimbal calibration only. Have they made other advances to this controller, too? Thanks!
Thanks for reviewing this radio, you're the first that has mentioned the strong range with spi and that is intriguing on its own. Can one set trims and endpoints with it?
@@Kabab one or two more weeks? Darn it. Need something to play with. Maybe I will try out mavic mini motors and props. They get approx 15-20 mins cruising flight time at 2s. 😅

I picked up that radio from you and I’ll pick it up at the post office tomorrow. Excited to try it out! And spot on about 1s boards. People are somewhat surprised when I tell them I don’t recommend ANY 1s board at the moment, they all have issues.
Great video! I saw that your RSSI was regularly done in the 30s. Were you using the Emax tiny RX or SPI RX? At what RSSI do you get RXLOSS? I'm very interested to see more experiments with the longer life batteries.
No screen means no model memory. No big issue since I like to keep same stick/switch layout on all quads... But can it somehow bind to several recivers without having to rebind everytime you switch quad out in the field?... Not very economically if you sort of need one transmitter per quad...
Can anyone confirm what you need to do in order to switch quad? Is it a regular rebind or is there a faster method like it can remember several recivers and pick what ever is turned on at the moment?!? Really did like the layout but having to rebind is probably not for me...
@@matthew04101 thank you for answers. Open tx and only one quad... Strange design... Who is this for?!?... Beginners don't want to mess with open tx... And the rest of us has more than one quad...
Also regarding controller making, I think we should study how major camera companies make their grips to feel nice (aka Sony with their A7R4, Canon EOS R, etc).
I have a Flycolor 1s stack in my 2" that has worked solid since 2016. The ESC is only 4A but it has enough juice for 1103 16000kv motors. The AUW is 44g with a 600mAh lipo cell.

I went in and put a tiny bit of clear silicone grease on my Taranis QX7 throttle to remove that stickiness after I deactivated the ratchet and tightened up the friction. It's a lot better now.
That’s awesome I was planning on buying the freestyle and throw in another 40 bucks for this radio and that’s not a bad combo. How do you set up your mode switches and arm switches if there is no screen tho?
Hi Bob, right after you showed us the 18650 mod I grabbed one and its 4grams lower than my brand new 3s batteries. Would it not be recommended at all? Or just for FPV? i have exploration flights in mind.
It works fine but you can't access 30% or more of the battery because it's below 3.2v. The quad doesn't really fly well below 3.3v. It barely flies well at 3.3v
Kabab....there are so many transmitters it seems nowadays. Everything just feels like a compromise for whatever they may be trying to do. Comfort, form factor, and functionality. I wish you had the opportunity to release your concept with FlySky versus what UGFPV released with the NV14. I felt like UGFPV rushed FlySky and it was release with some hardware issues. On the topic of transmitter fw, I too hate Opentx. I actually think FlySky did a pretty good job with the fw on the I-10 radio. Have you had a chance to look at the Paladin from them as well? It has a JR bay finally 😂.
That radio is just too small for my hands. (Edit: As large as the Tango 2, no problem then.) Bob, would you recommend the JHEMCU GHF411AIO AIO whoop boards? I need a new one to replace my Iflight 12a AIO and the price of this one makes it really interesting. Ciotti suggested it .
@@Kabab Cool! I may hold off and order them from you then. It's not like I only a single quad to fly, lol. You should do a torture test of the 30a board to see how it holds up. Thanks for the reply!
I currently have a Flysky FSI6S and only one 3 inch HD quad and I don't feel all that confident with failsafes when I use it. I have a low budget and this radio seems like a great package. Would it be a good move to buy this radio?
Which receiver are you using? The FS-i6 should be decent enough for most cases. Usually the recommendation would be to move to Frsky but they have destroyed their ecosystem.
Transmitter looks great and I almost order 2 but decided I have to control myself so I'll just order them for my nephews down the road if they show interest in rc. All I want to know, does it have audio for telemetry? Not totally related but I just had an idea but maybe it's obsolete or nobody would be interested because of osd in betaflight, but what if someone made a transmitter without a screen but it had a port for your favorite fatshark module and it's own osd chip and a video out port? All of the opentx functions could be on your goggles or an auxiliary screen and Lua could be used for all the betaflight functions and tuning so if you were into flight controllers that don't fit an osd chip for whatever reason you could use frsky telemetry to do anything you needed.
mine bricked trying to trim center. mine was jumping everywhere in center by 16, meaning if i roll left and stop it be at 1490. i roll right and stop it be at 1506. wanted to atleast center it. followed instructions and boom.. red light of death.. Any one have firmware they can send me to try that?

They are fun to experiment with. I am using them for everything from little 3-4in builds on 3s to a 7imch with a 6s2p pack to 10-13inch builds running a pair of 6s2p packs for 12000mah. 15-20min flying on 3-4in. 17-23min flying on my 7in. 15-20min flying on my 10 and 13in.
I have to admit so far I've had a pretty good run with the crazybee f4 lite, I have 2 which originally came in my 2 mobula 6's now one is in a toothpick build (hx100se with crossfire because the betafpv board burnt out) and the other is in a 75mm whoop with crossfire. Probably over 70 packs through each board and I'm running 100mw and 200mw on the built in vtx!
Just bought one of these for my son to fly his TinyHawk S...thanks for your reviews! PS did I hear you moved to UTAH? if that is true NUKE (Northern Utah Kwad Enthusiasts) would love to add you as a member on FB and Discord.
I actually love that radio. It's great for indoor flying and some sim fun.. But you should use vtc5a they hold the voltage better := and can also be charged with up to 5amps
Zero. Absolutely frikin nothing. But the people buying it claim they like it even though all it does is waste battery. So they keep making monster sized controllers for the four people that think they're watching a movie on their controller and the big screen adds value.
I picked up a turnigy evolution in a ebay lot of stuff didn't know anything about it but must say for only 50 plus it's not a bad option I've had no range problems the gimbal seem smooth and I do like the shape of it I been using a jumper t12 with hall gimbal and dxe dx6 also I been fly n a holybro 180 and a diatone crusader x I really like the true x seems more nimble over my stretch Xs types but I really like the stretch x is straight line full speed seems to really hold tight but you can really feel a difference in frame styles I have not sure what's it's called but a nighthawk that has a different feel with the stretch x but its horizontal vs vertically stretch. Kinda cool being still a noob with just over a year now . I always thought it was in people's heads that they would feel so different wish I could make all the style frames with all same parts to really feel the difference. Like radio transmitter have alot of feel for why we use use one of the other . End of the day everything we use is the same but the feel of a good set up matches to a good feeling transmitter will always be number one cost will vary but feel is number one 2 service . Now we just need someone to make a better motor that's made better with the right bearing that are for heat and impact better no one uses good parts on any motors with bearing shafts and way they are being used is still not even close to what's possible just not sure if weight and cost would out way for a better stronger motor design with a top bear brace so the motor would have no flexible or bendable shafts would help the structure of qaud also but my wish is to have less heat and less motor loss caused by a motor that is being maxed out like we all use now
the range is crazy for this! I hate my Frsky radios but I like the portability of the x-lite and the ONLY reason I fly with it.. I wish Jumper would get off their ass and make a game style controller..make one with the same feel as my Xbox one elite controller..
A reliable 1s board would be so appreciated by the community imo. It's like you've said. Everything that's currently available is garbage and will fail sooner or later for no particular reason.
it looks like all eyes and developments are on graphene batteries. i'd figure by next year, all Li-ion batteries would seem old tech. graphene batteries are lighter, more durable, long lifetime, less dangerous and higher charge/discharge rate.
@@Kabab graphene batteries are li-ion batteries with graphene mixed in. so naturally graphene batteries are the next revolution of li-ion batteries. so far, only one company, that i know of, that recently has produced them commercially for power banks. next year there will be more and definitely samsung will be one of them.
I am now seeing your vision for 1s if you can get manufacturers to listen. A stronger board able to handle these larger motors and have actual qc. Longer range with tiny rx or crossfire. Big 1s packs to pair with the range. All of this together sounds like a great setup for long relaxing flights. I can’t wait.

KababFPV gotcha ok. I guess I gotta stop crashing haha

The one coming from radiomaster will likely be the next main one and there won't be many more after maybe because DJI will start taking over.

DJI has this covered nicely from the goggles.
