    My old camera ran 3 years old and hasnt had any charging issues. Even after i put it in a box for the last year. I pulled it out still turned on and still had 20percent battery. And if you buy a motion sensor camera why would you want it recording 24/7 that deafeats the purpose of a battery sensor camera.

    Sorry but I can't say I experience your issues, even without the solar panel I left the camera at the entrance to my house picking up every single car and person walking and it only dropped from 100 percent to 80 something. This is with the camera set on the highest possible sensitivity. It took a day to go to 100 percent using the solar panel installed correctly

    Not having faces and plates recognition is a show stopper for my use case. I only want to be notified when unknown people or cars are detected. 2024 and Reolink still doesn’t have this option! Shame

    Yes. I would assume that nobody would buy and install an expensive solar powered camera where they could use a wired IP camera.

  • @AquariumThoughts
    @AquariumThoughts 2 місяці тому

    So the point of this video is just getting wired cameras? Gotcha. That has nothing to do with why you shouldn't but the Argus 4/pro. It's just reasons why you should choose wired over battery/wifi. You are simply using the Argus 4/pro to gain views as it's a new product that people are searching for.
    The cons you list are FUD. I never clean the panels and they charge the camera perfectly. One currently has bird poo and it's unaffected by it. People even are moving away from the idea of even washing the large panels on their house based solely on the fact that they've found that it doesn't really have a great return in investment to do so.
    Solar panel makes camera obvious? I WANT my cameras to me obvious. I want people with nefarious ideas to move on to other targets. Plus unless you are using a hidden camera, a poe camera is still going to be noticed. It doesn't matter anyways because you want the cameras to act more as a deterrent than just catching the act on camera because in the end, catching it on camera still means you're probably missing things that you might not even get back if they are caught. And getting damaged my people seeing them? Any camera has that flaw and should be mounted high enough to be difficult to do so, while still giving you the view you desire.
    But yeah, I do agree that wired is better but battery wifi is still better than nothing and not everyone has the desire to do a wired system properly. If I had the desire to drill holes through my walls, run cables, and run pipes along my home, I would do so.

      You understand everything perfectly well. There's no point in arguing with you.
      We used this camera to make attention to the problem that people are lazy and are willing to overpay for products that do their job worse. But these products are very easy to install.
      If you ask any professional installer about installing a camera with a solar panel in a house where there is electricity, he will always convince you to install a wired connection security camera system. Because this is the only way he can promise guaranteed stable operation of the security system.
      I know that laziness is the engine of progress, but not in the case of a security system where the main parameter is stability of operation.

    Meh.... sounds like you're doing a lot of reaching, reaching up high to the sky. Another channel mentioned that his solar panel does NOT get much sunlight, but the camera still works perfectly, as the internal battery only uses a small amount of power. So 24 hour sunlight is not necessary.

    • @piplsystems
      @piplsystems  2 місяці тому +1

      Do you want us to test the camera without connecting it to a solar panel and prove that the battery won't last long?

    • @welbeschikbaa
      @welbeschikbaa 6 днів тому

      @@piplsystems I think since you are saying it doesn't work you should test. You are assuming it doesn't work. To be honest, this is more clickbait than real arguments. I think the ones that buy these know why and what for they are buying it.

  • @Dean_adams
    @Dean_adams 2 місяці тому

    Most of your down sides are about the solar panel but the battery lasts at least a month so not having much sunlight here and there isn't much of an issue, the real issue is not being able to expose each lense seperately, so i have issues with one side being either too dark, or blown right out, but there was no mention of that.
    Also you had an issue with it bein vulnerable if people mount it at eye level? lol wut?

    • @piplsystems
      @piplsystems  2 місяці тому

      Don’t rush to conclude that the battery will last for a month. It all depends on the activity of objects within the camera's range of vision. Install the camera on a side busy with people and cars and you will see that the battery does not last even for several days.
      Your problem is due to the fact that Argus 4 Pro camera uses two sensors and when different amounts of light hit them you get a different picture. Everything is logical, although we really didn’t talk about it.
      We also saw a problem when the object is close to the camera in the center. You can see this at 0:50

    Is there any way to delete footage from sd card without having to pull it out

    • @piplsystems
      @piplsystems  2 місяці тому

      If you want to delete the footages, you need to take out the Micro SD card to delete them on the computer. If you don't want to take out the Micro SD card, the camera will automatically overwrite the old files when the SD card is at capacity and then continue to record.

    Is this camera able to run without using the solar panel? Like using continuous power via outlet

    • @piplsystems
      @piplsystems  2 місяці тому

      Yes, the Reolink Argus 4 Pro camera can work without a solar panel by connecting it directly to a power source. However, this defeats its technological purpose; it would be simpler and cheaper to install a regular wired PoE surveillance camera.

      Please do not rush to conclusions. Most likely, you just misunderstood the point of our video. We were neither reviewing and testing technical features nor criticizing the specific Reolink Argus 4 Pro camera. Moreover, we were not criticizing the Reolink brand. We wanted to explain that for a homeowner, a WiFi camera with a solar panel is an absurd solution because if you have WiFi, in most cases, you can install a power cable from the nearest socket to the camera. A solar panel is a very vulnerable component of any 24/7 security system and should be used only if you truly do not have electricity or if installing a power cable is simply impossible. Therefore, this camera is suitable only for specific tasks such as installation on remote sites.
