This scene!!! The definition of 'satisfaction' when watching it for the first time. The show is really something else. Beth's arc is very well constructed and you really feel happy for her when she sees the chess board on the ceiling during that final game, without the alcohol or drugs. It was in her all this time and she fought for it. Can't wait to rewatch this show over and over again.
My right wrist and pinky hurt now so I'm gonna do an easier arrangement for the next video. I'd like to do the last piece we hear, Sygrayem (Let's Play). It is so uplifting and so fitting for the ending.
I also decided to cut away the first 2min of The Final game because I felt it was not part of the thrill of the overall piece. I couldn't remember the melody so I felt it was right to cut it off and start to play when they resume the game.
Thanks a lot for watching!!!
YES!!! 🎵The SHEETS are finally available here --- www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0226747&id=&ca=0
Love it so much !!
Thanx!!! You are the best!!
Thank you so much 💗
I can't get the sheets because I'm in America... Is there any way I could pay you for them some other way?
@@xazibella6246 mmm I don't really know. All I could give you is a PDF, nothing interactive. Do you know people in another country that could purchase it for you? If it's an option I for you would do that!
Whoa... Queen's Gambit has excellent scores, but unfortunately not that much people cover it. Glad you did...
All this just by ear? You are crazy talented. Thanks a lot for uploading so frequently :)
"I do all my arrangements by ear so no sheets."
absolute genius
amazing but also makes me sad because I'd love to play this but unfortunately cannot play by ear this well xD
@@sae721 the sheet is coming soon :)
@@LaurieTheberge perfect pitch gang???
You deserve all the love! Of the fans from 'The Queens Gambit' and piano-lovers!❤🎹🎼
Thank you so much!
I love the chessboard in the shot!! This was so beautiful, you’re crazy talented 🙌🏻♥️ I want to listen to this over and over again, it’s so good! And the ending 😦 wow
Just awesome...Thanks so much for sharing.
Chills. I could play out the whole scene in my head just by listening to your cover, it's that powerful. Amazing.
Only by listening can remember what´s happening in that scene, what you make with your music to all those listening to it is amazing, keep like that
i searched for music in a great show, and i got a masterpeice cover.
This is amazing! All of this by ear? What a show and what a soundtrack! Can you please also do the Main Title? 😁
Hey, great video! I think the music in The Queen's Gambit really played a huge role in the series.
Wow! I was looking for this one everyday since the show! Very good job and thank you for uploading it!
You have a superb technique and play so well. Well transposed.
I love the score for the series. You have a superb technique and play so well. Well transposed and arranged too.
I played it the whole last week. Thx for the tutorial!
That's a really beautiful version. Thanks for sharing!
I Love this it's awesome!
Yess
Dude I love your playing I can feel the passion you have for playing keep up the great work!
amazing work wish i can play like this! 🖤
Gorgeous played! well done friend
Excellent
This is crazyyy... 💕 you must be a professional, but can I ask you how long you’ve played? Love this and subscribed!
Thanks! I am no professional. Im self taught. Ive been playing for about 4 years now and play only by ear. But I’m lucky to come from a family of musicians (some professionals) so I got to develop my hearing/listening abilities very young! Also when I write the sheets, whenever I have a theory question, my sister, who did study music for 16 years, can answer me :)
no blunder👌🔥
Thanks so much for this I’m 12 and I’m trying to learn this but there are no good tutorials that show which hand I should use for and this really helped
Woah you have such an amazing setup, and fantastic cover!!!
Amazing cover!
lo amé, es espectacular
Someone said this is the same soundtrack that plays in Beths first big game against Beltik, I’m pretty sure it’s true and if it is that’s a great detail. Her first big game and her last game.
AMAZING ARRANGEMENT!!! Love it!
I really enjoy listening to this. Amazing!
Chess board is a nice touch.
Amazing!!!
Thank you! You are outstanding.
wow👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✌
Amazing🙏🏻
amazing bro i adore that show
I do not know who I crush more: this piece/cover or Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon
Yess i love it 🥰. You’re very talented.
amazing!
Wow, just wow...
Ahh I love all the covers you've been doing. Would you consider playing Sygrayem? It's the beautiful piece played in the finale
Edit... I just read the description, I'm looking forward to it if you do haha
Wish there was sheets but nonetheless amazing that you did it by ear even at all!! Bravo :)
So beautiful 😍
this. is. insane.
Great playing! By the way, you can probably get rid of your keyboard light flickering in the video if you can adjust the shutter time of your video camera.
Yeah I tried everything but never could change the shutter to a better option with the iphone 7. It would always get worst. But now I got the iphone 12 and there’s no more problem :)
it looks nice
Beautiful! Thank youu :)
You're so amazing!...I don't know what else to say!
I loooooooove it so much 😭
really liked it tho!
I lovee itt!! ❤️
good sound
Lovely arrangement! Just one worry, the audio is quite bass heavy and UA-cam seems to be compressing it a lot making it sound a bit muddy. Cheers!
Yeah i noticed, i changed the sound now, if you listen to my ‘a friend’ arrangement it sounds wayyyy less compressed!
@@LaurieTheberge Just gave it a listen. Sounds lovely!
I liked it good work
Damnably good job..
i don't know why but i think you have the same taste with me in movies, music and even books. I can see there're alot of series in your bookshelf ^^
minnhanhh haha might be! I’ve got all those 2000s adventure series; Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, etc. I prefer listening to soundtrack, mostly Zimmer (although I do love some good kpop lol). And I love Nolan and Villeneuve’s work, and all the fan nerdy stuff like Star Wars and the MCU :) what about you?
@@LaurieTheberge yes! we do have same taste lol, i love fanatsy franchise, not many people read Percy Jackson though, i'm a huge fan, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, The lord of the rings, His dark materials... i love them all. Now, i'm obsessed with The queen's gambit ^^ And yes, Zimmer's music is amazing, i really like the Inception and Interstellar sound track (especially Time), they're amazing ^^ really glad that finally find someone that have same interests as me :3
minnhanhh cool! If I can suggest, you should read The mirror traveler, its a french fantasy series of 4 books. The original title is ‘la passe-miroir’ its a truly incredible and original series that, from our common taste, you would love! Happy holidays to you!
@@LaurieTheberge sounds amazing ^^ I will find it! But it's kinda hard to find it in my country though =((
Insane cover. Love that song!
Impressive
Fantastic :)
How are you so underated???
Yeeeeees 😍😍
I love this, alma would've covered this perfectly too..
Can you do one for 'take it, it's yours'? ☺
i love it
Can you do « We shall go to war » or the « Downfall » from The Crown ? Thanks.
Please make sheet music for it too! I suck at learning songs like this, and so I neeeeeeeedd sheet music lol
I contacted Musicnotes to become a partner and sell my sheets there. I'm waiting on an answer from them at the moment!
👏
The chess pieces:)
♥
so beautiful :´)
Awesome work Laurie! Do you mind sharing what equipment you used to mount the camera?
thanks! haha well to be honest idk how much my answer to that will help you with your channel but still. I have my grand-pa's old tripod. Its a tiny little metal thing with 3 legs and the head moves in about 5 angles max. when closed down it's about the size of a burrito soooo its the least technological and modern tripod you could think of but it does the job. I secured the length of the legs with tape and its resting on a tablet over my piano. the tripod is secured with some metal wires weirdly put but that makes it secure, cause if it were to fall I would break my camera lens on my piano keys...which is no option, so I secured it the best I can and that's basically it. Its still not perfect cause the notes falling aren't super alined with the keyboard but my piano is in the basement so the ceiling aren't high enough to allow a higher camera placement where I can then zoom in with my lens to generate less distortion...anyways idk how technical you wanted to get here haha sorry for the long answer.
@@LaurieTheberge That sounds very similar to my set up :D I was hoping that you would have a more sophisticated solution but I think that what we are both doing what seems to be the norm
Wonderful!! Are you planning to make and share the sheet?? I hope you so🥺
Yeah, I just signed with musicnotes and currently working on the sheets
😍😍😍
I wish i could have the sheet music😣Its such a masterpiece!!
I sent the Sheets to Musicnotes. Just waiting for publication now :) It will be there in a few days :)
@@LaurieTheberge Thanks so so much!❤️
Actually I just received news that it’s gonna be published tomorrow!
@@LaurieTheberge Sweet!
Nice :)
How much time of effort did it take to learn by heart bro?
It took me about 2 days to make the arrangement. I did it fast cause the show was getting popular and I wanted to be the first to cover that piece. And than about 2 days of practice and I recorded. Since I do my own arrangement by ear, the ‘learning by heart’ process is pretty much automatic. If I find the correct notes or rhythm the last thing I want is to forget what I just did. And since memory is something you can train very fast, now I learn my pieces by heart as I create the arrangement so I would say the learning by heart part was really just 2 days, and than 2 days to practice and play it nicely. Its pretty fast but that’s really because I’ve been training my memory :)
Very Clean played respect 😁 So you learn by ear...do you have a perfect or absolute Pitch?
Thanks! No i don’t. I have never properly studied music. I can name the notes and read sheets but other than that nothing. I can’t say which cords it is or anything like that. I don’t have a perfect pitch because it’s a talent that has to be trained. But I come from a family of musicians so I developed my hearing young. My sister has perfect pitch, but she studied music for over 16 years so it makes sense :)
Insane ! what is this piano ?
Clavinova from yamaha
@@LaurieTheberge thanks !
It’s amazing +1 subscribe
AWESOME 😍
Are those harry potter books ? (French edition)
Thanks! no they're not, I think the ones you're looking at are the Percy Jacksons? But don't worry I do have the Harry Potter books both in french and english in my bookshelf next to my piano :)
@@LaurieTheberge oooh alright 😊
do you have sheet music?
Sorry I make my arrangements by ear. But im working on doing some tutorials soon
This one is good, indeed. But I’d like to be honest, as I hate the artificially comments with no specific reason...
So, here’s what I think after listening your cover: Your playing is just fine and if you practice more you definitely will be great pianist for sure but, the problem is with some notes and chords. Actually you played wrong or totally skipped some very important chords and parts of the song which make it special and unique. Well, I know that playing just by hearing something with no sheets at all isn’t the easier thing, right? But in some cases, if you feel unsure about a part of the song, or for some notes, it’s definitely better to take a look at the sheet for help, or to listen it more carefully again and again, than play it wrong, because always the most important things on tracks like this one is those small details!
Anyway, I hope this comment helps you instead of pissing you off! I’d really like to see your improvement in the future. Keep it up! 😁
Hi there, thank you for your comment. Like you said, not a lot of people explain themselves in comments and I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to do it properly. I would like to say that I understand what you are talking about, but please understand that this is a cover and therefore my personal interpretation of this piece. It doesn't have to be perfect for every ear to hear. It is not because I put 'piano cover' in my title that I am claiming to hold the ultimate truth about what a cover for this piece, or any other piece, should be. What you hear is what I feel is important we hear. And I love to go watch other people's cover and compare. It's very interesting to see which parts are important for everybody and which can only be found in some covers. I also sometimes realize that I completely forgot about a section and that makes me disappointed, but hey, like I said, it won't be perfect. Also, I believe there is a bit of misunderstanding, as I do not follow sheets and than play by ear...I make the arrangements myself so there are no sheets for me to go back to and 'get the notes and chords right' as these covers are my creations. I also have no background in piano, I only play for fun and only about 9 month ago did I try for the first time to do an arrangement, not knowing if I could do it, and it turns out I can! I have no idea what I'm doing with this channel and piano is not my career path, it's simply something that I do now in my life that brings me joy. Again, I very much appreciate your honestly and your explanation, and I will think about it, but I don't pretend to be a god here with these covers, so please don't be to severe, they are just for fun! :)
♥³
Can you please give me sheet of this song please
Sorry I play by ear so I don’t have sheets, but I’m looking into doing tutorials soon so little patience :)
Beautiful cover of one of the best tracks from one of the best scores of the year!
I just uploaded my own video sharing my thoughts on The Queen's Gambit - If you'd like to check it out and drop some feedback, that'd be amazing! If not, no worries. Have a great week and keep up the good work!
tutorial plzzzz
the link to the tutorial is at the end of the video :)
awesome but you are not playing the flats on the right hand at the beginning, listen propperly and you will see , still beautiful .
Saludes de Colombia
In several places there are liberal interpretations of the original, sometimes with a one semitone difference.
ah damn no synthesia for this cover :(
