The impact of debt ceiling deal cannot be ascertained unless they calculate mathematically the impact of the debt ceiling on the budget deficit after 1 year and after 2 years. If the budget deficit gets worse then Biden the big spender won. If budget deficit decreases then McCarthy succeeded in reducing deficit. But if there is no change in budget deficit and we are still paying big interest, then the American people lost.

@@bellda9042nothing has been passed. Nothing will be passed until friday at the earliest. It takes 72 hours after indroducing a bill before it can be voted on. The bill hasnt even been fully written, and the earliest it can be introduced is tommorow. And just because Mccarthy made an agreement (a non-binding agreement), does not mean all republicans will vote for it. You seem to have no real idea about what is going on.

On the surface the deal looks good for the Country 👍
No debt ceiling happened. No debt ceiling was agreed to. The debt ceiling that was agreed to the last time we had a crisis was increased. The next time we have another debt crisis, we will increase this present debt ceiling. Our elected official judge kick the can down the road again. We have increase spending, and the debt ceiling is increased in the taxpayers are going to have to shell out money to pay for this. We see nothing here that is taxpayer friendly.
They at least got something…compromise means concessions on both sides my friend. The 1% cap on non-defense spending is what I’m curious about. First, we should have a cap on defense spending. We’re not at war and we’ve got the most advanced military in the world already. Second, does that mean the Department of Veterans Affairs is going to take a personnel hit? We can’t afford not to take care of the men and women of foreign wars. Especially the recent ones. PTSD is a real thing amongst our ranks. Typically non- violent, but without proper therapy and medication, we can do some damage.
