Arkham asylum it's not as worse as some of you think you have maps to help you find them which makes it a lot easier than having to find his damn henchman who are scattered around the map and interrogate them
A detail I love about Riddler in the Arkham Games is the fact he takes less and less care of himself, and focuses on his desperation to outsmart, humiliate, or kill Batman. In Arkham Origins, before he even became known as the Riddler, you can see he's very clean, well-managed, and hasn't developed his desperation to humiliate Batman. In Arkham Asylum, in the artwork of him (since he physically doesn't show up), he switches out his vest and collared shirt for his iconic green suit, bowler hat, and cane, and even then he still looks like he manages himself nicely, while still focusing on trying to outsmart Batman, before you hear him get arrested in the end. In Arkham City, he goes so far as to kidnap medical officers to try and lure Batman into his elaborate puzzles, and threatens to kill them if Batman doesn't manage to solve them, and keeps the rest of them hostage and walking for hours unless they want their heads to explode. He still wears his iconic suit and bowler hat, but you can clearly tell he hasn't washed his clothes or even bathed (but that's probably because Arkham City doesn't have running water for its inmates). Lastly, in Arkham Knight, you can finally see he no longer takes care of himself or even dresses formally like he used to - looking more like the kind of guy who lives in a cheap apartment, and wears a tank top, green shirt, and cargo pants. And you can see he's finally become so desperate to prove himself smarter than Batman that that's all he focuses on by that point, and doesn't take care of himself even more, and is more likely to snap. He even goes so far as to cheat, but doesn't live up to it because he wants to desperately prove he's superior to the caped crusader. And even that cop Riddler Informant at GCPD has taken pity on him because he saw just how desperate he was and wouldn't shut up about how he lost to Batman. Just goes to show how narcissistic he is, and just can't accept he won't always be the smartest guy in the room.
actually it goes deeper than just that. Riddler admits in his interview in Arkham Asylum that his father beat him because he was convinced he'd cheated in a contest and that it was the only way for him to win. Riddler admits that he did. growing up with a father that never stopped calling him an idiot and a cheater severely warped Riddler's mind to the point he was convinced that Batman was a fraud and a cheat. which compelled him to challenge him back in Origins. he couldn't imagine that anyone smart enough to beat him could do it without cheating. which is where his obsession started. he NEEDED to prove that Batman was a cheat. because otherwise it meant that there was someone out there that was smarter than him. it's also why he cheats when it comes to riddles because he CAN'T allow someone to outsmart him. his deteriorating appearance just shows how completely consumed he's become by his need to outsmart Batman he's neglecting basic hygiene to devote more time to making a puzzle Batman CAN'T solve.
@@TheMeta141 i always took it as Batman broke Riddler, in Origins Riddler is being fairly reasonable and is just trying to inhertnetly do a good thing, but Batman won't stop bothering him even though there's tons of worse villains out, and Riddler eventually can't take it anymore, begging Batman to leave him alone, but Batman doesn't let up, so then Riddler loses it and fully goes from "Nigma" to "Riddler"

When I hear Joker's thoughts on Catwoman, I can't help but remember one important thing: this Joker is a product of Batman's subconscious,Joker's mutated blood, and some Fear Gas in his body. Which means that at some point these thoughts about Catwoman being emotionally vulnerable and Talia Al Ghul sleeping with Joker in Hell have passed through Bruce Wayne's mind...
***** Actually, no. These are Joker's memories, hence why Bruce saw Killing joke, despite him not being there, seeing Jason's torture, EDIT:This is a theory that I have, don't take my word for it, but this is what I thought.
SingXongDong Bruce textually says that there was a video where he saw Jason die. The Joker is an hallucination triggered by the Fear Toxin. Batman's disease is a completely different thing; that is a prionic disease (textually said by Robin), like the mad cow disease, which degenerates the subjects' minds until they become *like* the Joker. They. Are. *NOT.* The. Joker.
SingXongDong but Joker-Bruce's retelling wasn't 100% accurate, it was what he heard or thinks happened. Some of it is Joker and some of it is Bruce. It's both
No. Joker is not real. The disease is turning Batman into A Joker, not THE Joker. Big difference. There are no memories of Joker involved, it is all in Batman's mind. You cannot have another's memories. It is as simple as that. Joker's brain does not exist. No neurons. Nothing about him remains. And you honestly think he doesn't know about what happened to Barbara? Theat neither she or Gordon told him? Please! Do you really think Joker didn't show him everything?
Random thugs outside: "Trust me, this guy's IQ is through the roof. You wanna catch the Dark Knight you need to be smart. And Nigma's smarter than all of you put together." "If he's so smart, how come the Bat's still out there?" Nuff' said!
i like how catwoman gently cuts the glass for an opening to the keys... THEN BATMAN STRIKES THE GLASS LIKE A MAN AND SNATCHES THE KEYS TO SAVE HIS MOST LOYAL SIDE-CHICK FROM THE DANGERS OF INJUSTICE!!!
i just imagine billions of gamers surrounding Riddler and kicking the shit out of him for making everyone go insane to find his trophies and complete his challenges....man that would be pleasible af
Good thing that New Game Plus doesn't require you to collect riddler trophies and solve his riddles and destroy the whatever these things are around the city
@@alessiodelcastillo1613 Yeah, you need to solve all of the riddles in the game in order to unlock the final boss fight with him so you can bring him in to GCPD.
You mean "Players who don't understand that most side quests give you *FREE* WayneTech points" , and in Nigma's case, you get them after having fun with a nice challenge to balance out the fact you get *2* points per trial you complete. And collecting all 243 Riddles and punching the crap out of Nigma and locking him up to achieve the true ending is a challenge worth taking on, and a result that is *ULTIMATELY* satisfying.
Batman: You're not going to thank me? 10 seconds earlier... Catwoman: I know a couple of hotels Batman: Not tonight. She just offered about the best thank you that you could hope for! XD
I’m such a completionist, and yet, I am more than willing to give up at 13/14 and get the half ending because I’m at 13/243 trophies and I really don’t want to be bothered with this
I think it's great. The others seemed really half-assed and unimpactful. But after going to extreme length to complete all Riddler challenges, you get a pretty sincere and emotional cutscene that was clearly made with more passion than the others
I love how Batman knocks down the gates to the orphanage and then smashes into the staircase every time. Riddler must carefully rehang the gates and re-point the brickwork every time Bats drives off.
This Riddler has to be my Top version of Riddler. The actor put alot into making him what and who he was. And he has some of the best dialogue in the game
I absolutely love how much of a wise cracking smartass Batman becomes when Catwoman is around lmao. It’s like she’s one of the few people he’s actually comfortable around.
I love how he keeps smashing the same railing with the Batmobile. I imagine some repair guy constantly fixing it, only to watch it get smashed again seconds later and slowly lose it out of frustration.
Coming back to this, I realize that it’s basically a Three Stooges joke. In the Stooges short "Men in Black", they had a running gag where Curly kept accidentally smashing the glass on the hospital director’s office door, sometimes immediately after the repair guy had just finished replacing it. That’s what I imagine BAV was doing with that railing.
*Catwoman:* What's Eddie's problem? *Batman:* Fanatic narcissism, ego-centrism, and megalomania crossed with severe obsessive compulsion. *Catwoman:* That was a rhetorical question but thanks I guess *Batman:* Don't mention it 😎
I appreciate him,its a pain to prove him you're worthy and many wont do so but Riddler is a cool villain, his efforts just goes diffirent ways than others.
You can just tell, Wally Wingert had the absolute time of life, voicing the Riddler in this game. I would literally pay money just to see his actions from inside the recording booth, while making this game.
I love how Riddler has the Gall to call Batman a narcissist for having the batmobile when he himself is so obsessed with himself he covered the whole city with green question marks! Lol
As much as I love Jim Carrey's Riddler and Cory Michael Smith's Riddler, this guy is my personal favourite. He is dark, serious and the perfect match for the dark knight. I hope Cory's Riddler will turn into something like this because this Riddler is awesome!
God, the attention to detail in this game gets better and better every time! Even the water collected from the rain on Batman's cape as he glides through the city looks real
unreal engine 4 was the engine they chose for this game if you are wondering arkham asylum and city used unreal engine 3this is how next gen games should look like im looking at u EA
I actually loved when Batman finally got to kiss Catwoman like finally bro should have done that in Arkham City but he was with or hooked up on Talia at the time
I know I am in the minority, but I actually like the Riddler stuff in all the Arkham games. I actually do not mind collecting the Riddler trophies, solving riddles and taking on challenges. It is like the more you collect and complete, the more you learn about Batman and other certain aspects of the game (heroes, villians, gangs, locations). It is something that I absolutely love and it adds more to each Arkham game in the Rocksteady trilogy.
I agree 1000% for all the reasons you've said. I enjoy all The Riddler stuff in each game. Especially in Arkham City. You made all the points what I love about them, and I'm glad I aren't the only one who embraces them on a challenging excellent even game design level. It's truly among what I love about these games. I find them addicting, satisfying, and more fun when you know exactly know how to solve em. I don't find them poor side objectives. There interesting in general, and what else you expect from Riddler? People have no patients, and just want to punch things. That's why they don't like them. Never find them flawed, unbearable, or annoying. There clearly a stable for the Arkham games.
MrGamer I pretty much agree with everything you said, but the racetracks you have to do are kind of annoying. I've failed at least three times on the first racetrack for the riddler missions. Now as you can tell I'm not very good at them, that's why I find the racetrack parts annoying. But everything else aside from that is alright. The thing is I actually just got this game, and the reason for that is because at the time I couldn't afford it so I waited a while for the price to decrease over time and bought it with my $25 EB Games gift card.
Well I hope you have been enjoying the game. I could agree the racetracks have been somewhat annoying. The riddles that are more on the annoying side is manageable when you know exactly what to do. I gotta admit the riddles in this one are perhaps the toughest I find. Even through there I guess lesser then the ones in Arkham City.
Wally Wingert's voiceperformance as The Riddler is just amazing and i love to beat the Riddler in the Batman Arkham games ! :) I love Batman so much and Rocksteady .
I love how done Selina is. She doesn’t even give riddler the satisfaction to call him Riddler or Nigma. She calls him just Eddie, sasses him whenever possible, and gives him no way to truly contain or control her. Edit: she’s so underrated and so often thought of as just a burglar that uses sex appeal and Batman’s favor to get things done, when she’s so much more.
Looking into her origins made her one of my favourite Batman characters. She grew up as an orphan, lived in a rough environment but always helped out the little people, even after becoming Catwoman
@@MultiCreditKIng Jesse eisenberg would be spectacular to be the riddler bc of his vocabulary and his way of talking would also work out but yea to bad he is lex but i hope sometime in the near future they will have him as riddler
I think someone else might have said this already but I’m going to say this anyway. I think Batman’s joker hallucinations are actually his darkest thoughts
Interesting note I have here. Selina says 'Some things you can't do on your own, Bruce.' But the Joker hallucination shows up when locking Eddie up - meaning that this happens before the unmasking. That means that she knew all along.
@@spouwnerring In his tapes in Arkham Asylum, he talks with Penelope Young, his assigned psychiatrist, about his past. In one of them, he tells her that in order to win his abusive father's approval, he entered a puzzle contest. He broke into his school and solved it so he knew the solution. After the contest was done and Ed secured his prize, his father accused him of cheating and beat him for lying to him. This is all discussed in his second interview tape in Asylum and brought up in dialogue in Knight but I don't think it's ever mentioned aside from those two times. I don't recall if it is ever mentioned in the comics either
The Amount of recording Wally Wingert had to go through to voice this much cryptic dialogue for the riddler had to be haunting. The script must have been the size of a dictionary!
46:50 might be my favorite Joker snippet in the game. Up there with Joker commenting that Pyg is sicker than his and Harley's "honeymoon tapes"... Hahaha
It's never been confirmed that he died. The Knightfall Protocol was designed as an emergency protocol in case his identity as Batman was compromised, and he had hinted throughout the game that he was going to fake his death.
Lol, you slate me for replying to a comment that was 3 weeks ago - when you replied to one that was written 2 years ago. Haha, the hypocrisy is unreal. Good thing you don't want to argue.
Anyone else love the effect that happens when he says "obfuscate"? Every time I hear that same effect I love it more, because it sounds awesome compared to some of the other noises. (The noise is at 1:06:52, if anyone is curious.)
Riddler is literally echoing fan sentiments everywhere! "Is it a car? Is it a tank? Who cares!" then "Shame you couldn't bring the Batwing to this one"
Everyone is either complaining about Arkham Knight or defending it... Can we all stop for just one moment and realize, this is over? Like holy shit man I've been pretty sad that the series I've loved over the years has just ended. Even though WB Montreal is probably taking over, Rocksteady is moving on. And that sucks man.
"Do you ever rub people the RIGHT way?" "Well, I could demonstrate on you, but I don't want Riddler to interrupt..." "I cannot be beaten!" Riddler proclaimed as his face was being beaten into pulp.
BAK is a great game, but if more time was spent on the actual city than the batmobile, the game would have been amazing. I think we all would have loved to glide among towering skyscrapers we always saw in the backdrop. Miagani island is satisfying but imagine those buildings all over the entire city.
I gotta say, the voice actor for The Riddler must've had so much fun recording all those lines.
That's an indication he loves his work. And for that, he'll be remembered.

Which means that at some point these thoughts about Catwoman being emotionally vulnerable and Talia Al Ghul sleeping with Joker in Hell have passed through Bruce Wayne's mind...
***** Actually, no. These are Joker's memories, hence why Bruce saw Killing joke, despite him not being there, seeing Jason's torture,
EDIT:This is a theory that I have, don't take my word for it, but this is what I thought.
SingXongDong
Bruce textually says that there was a video where he saw Jason die.
The Joker is an hallucination triggered by the Fear Toxin. Batman's disease is a completely different thing; that is a prionic disease (textually said by Robin), like the mad cow disease, which degenerates the subjects' minds until they become *like* the Joker.
They. Are. *NOT.* The. Joker.
I know that, which is why I'm referring to the scenes where Joker has Jason tied up and hanged, when he says that Jason has been replaced as Robin.

I know I am in the minority, but I actually like the Riddler stuff in all the Arkham games. I actually do not mind collecting the Riddler trophies, solving riddles and taking on challenges. It is like the more you collect and complete, the more you learn about Batman and other certain aspects of the game (heroes, villians, gangs, locations). It is something that I absolutely love and it adds more to each Arkham game in the Rocksteady trilogy.
its cool but 243 trophies? cmon.. 100 would have been enough
Don't let this guy fool you, he's actually The Riddler.
I could agree the
racetracks have been somewhat annoying. The riddles that are more on the
annoying side is manageable when you know exactly what to do. I gotta
admit the riddles in this one are perhaps the toughest I find. Even
through there I guess lesser then the ones in Arkham City.
