A few tips I’ve learned putting on covers: 1. Start trimming your cat’s nails as early as possible. I started mine shortly after I got him at about 4 months old and now at 7 months he pretty much lets me trim no problem. He fusses even less with the caps for some reason. 2. Fill all 10 at one time. Keep track which cap you filled first so you can apply in order. The reason is twofold. A. The glue has had a moment to get tacky and will adhere to the nail more quickly. B. It’s better to just get them all on, boom boom boom. If you have to take the time between each nail it gives kitty time to run off. Plus, you’re allowing the first nails to adhere longer without the possibility of kitty messing with them. 3. The brand I use says to only fill the cap 1/3 full which I don’t think she said. It gets messy and in the fur if it’s filled too full. Good luck!!! ❤️❤️❤️
This was helpful! Thank you. I just got 2 Persians that are 8 weeks and I am getting ready to trim their nails. When did you first use caps on yours? I am not sure if I should just make it part of the trimming routine to help them get used to them and get used to not pawing me and the furniture or if I should wait for it to potentially be a problem and then start with the caps. Thank you again!
@@christianwilliams8967 There's a lot of reasons why they're covered. Cats claw on furniture, even when they have posts and trees to scratch, they will still do it. Cats also carry a disease in their claws and teeth so if you get scratched/bit you can get an infection. It has nothing to do with laziness and is completely harmless.
pinkyt67 Mine too! I got my cat as a kitten and have been trimming his nails myself since, and now he just lays on his back in my lap chilling while I cut his nails and he even purrs lol.
pinkyt67 same here I have 14 little ones an they all let us cut they’re nails we hold them like a baby an they love it I feel like putting these on them would hurt them cause they’re nails are stuck out an can’t retract it has to be so uncomfortable for them an if that’s the case the hell with that I’m fine doing what I have been doing for the past 9 years
My kitten doesn't like it. She's almost 4 months old and I try always touching a feet and getting her used to it. I've tried trimming her nails 3 times so far, but it still makes her feel uncomfortable. Will she ever be comfortable with it?
I have a kitten we just got and she scratches the furniture and us sometimes to I was searching for any other way except for declawing her. I totally agree
@@i_kiss_men4929 declawing a cat I illegal for a reason .. it’s extremely painful for the cat , the nail is the part of its bone structure when u declaw it , the surface of it paw gets exposed and it hurts when it walks and moves around ... NEVER DECLAW A CAT

What a patient cat! Thank you for showing us how to do it. I'm a groomer and had someone come in asking if we did caps but none of us knew how or were up to trying it haha
@@Feverishkiller i mean a lot of people do. Its quite debilitating to them. When you get a cat declawed its like chopping our fingers off to the the knuckle. Most cats can’t even walk afterwards.
@@Feverishkiller I said most, not all, and I’m not lying. Most states in the us have deemed it as animal abuse and made it illegal. If a cat can walk “normal” afterwards it still fills them with pain

I have a cat who has trouble retracting her claws - so she gets stuck to things. Stuck to pillows which fall off the couch with her still attached. Stuck to the back of the couch. Stuck to the washing basket in a really bad pretzel shape and limping for a few days afterwards... she was injuring herself and we were trimming and it still would happen.. even the vet was worried that declawing her might be safer (the vet was horrified to even suggest it, but the cat could've killed herself so the vet was also a bit at a loss..) Thankfully i found these online that day after the vet, and it had a simple diagram how to do it. My cat hates being petted, hates being held, but allows me enough time to trim her nails, and enough time to put all the nail caps on her. She just sits in my lap, waiting for her manicure to be done. Showed the vet who was so happy to find out there was another solution..
These have been around for years so I would be concerned that your vet did not know of them rather than suggesting to declaw!! So frustrating. I’m glad you found this video before your baby got the terrible 😢 excruciating surgery.
If your vet thinks it’s safer to declaw your cat you need to get a new vet. Yes nail caps are great but it’s concerning that she didn’t explain to you that trimming the nails would’ve been just as sufficient. When you trim the nails the end isn’t sharp it’s a flat tip therefore their claws don’t get stuck in things
I've been seriously considering trying these for the exact same reason. My G-maw has dementia and lives with me because she can no longer live alone. Because of her age and such she has paper thin and super soft skin (rotten old skin as she calls it lol), plus she takes a blood thinner. She of course loves our cat, but when Luna is being playful she often accidentally scratches her quite a bit. Since declawing is absolutely out of the question and should be illegal IMCO and just simply cutting Luna's claws doesn't last long enough this looks like it might be the best option.
I have a Luna too that I started having to put claw caps on because of her habit of swatting at our two kittens (we did a slow introduction and everything, but she still hates them).
My apartment leasing office literally specifies in my lease that if you adopt a cat or are a cat family, your baby MUST be declawed. I CANNOT and WILL NOT. This is against my personal beliefs, although clearly some people don't find this cruel and unusual as I do. I don't want to cover them either, but it's the best alternative I have found. So happy to adopt and not have to put my precious baby through the declawing process ❤️! I Googled these not even knowing prior that they even existed! Thanks for the video!

Try giving them a favorite snack or treat directly after. We give canned food which is more of a treat for ours and it gets their mind off the new caps.
Thank you. This was very very helpful and close up so I can see exactly what you're teaching. I don't see anything wrong with these, as long as they aren't too big for the cat (caps come in several sizes) to where their nails can't retract because of size of the cap being too large for the cats nail. I currently have a package and I've been nervous about trying to apply them. But now I feel better. Thank you.

Since I have health issues i do worry when he accidentally scratches me. Will be giving these a try. Thank you so much again. You did an an amazing job making this video.
Tech-talk aside,,, This is a beautiful and wonderfully patient kitty!!! She reminds me of a charcoal-Russian Blue cat that I was a companion with, from being a very very small kitten, till she developed renal failure and had to be put to sleep. In a certain light, her fur was iridescent and looked magical!!! While taking your pet to a groomer is great for the groomer during most occasions, learning how to do these things personally is something all pet owners should learn to develop and maintain. It would be nice for Lovely Paws to list and name the type of nail trimmers and nail caps used in the video as product suggestions or something viewers can use as a reference when comparing other similar products. Also, during the video, it would have been nice if the presenter addressed the different sizes and particular methods of using them when other sizes won't fit. I'm not trying to be overly critical, but these suggestions could help make a 'great' video and 'excellent' video!!! Please make a video discussing at what 'age' or 'size' a kitten must be before applying nail caps!!! And, if you have a very small kitten available, do a practical demonstration and application video!!!
I hope you didn’t get a lot of negative comments on this. You did a great job, you were really gentle with the kitty and its exactly like you said - its what the owner wants, not what we want. I’m sure the kitty would rather have a loving home with their owner and be able to stay with grandma - even if it means she has to wear nail caps for a while - than be given away or have to stay at a shelter for a long time. If grandma can’t deal with getting scratched I think nail caps are a MUCH better solution than permanent de-clawing. Good job! I subscribed because of this video. :-)
Why would u clip your cats nails in the first place? Buy cat trees and scratching posts. Idk what's wrong in the US but here in Germany the caps aren't a thing and declawing is illegal. My cats' claws are razor sharp and that's what it's supposed to be. I've never got injured in my life if I didn't put myself in that position willingly.feel like the majority of people shouldn't own cats over there.
@@DerBossschlechthin it’s also so they don’t tear up our furniture I don’t believe in declawing them either but this does not harm them at all and then don’t need their nails to protect themselves when they are at home
@@DerBossschlechthin My cats have two trees with scratching posts and still go for the couch. Maybe you shouldn't have cats if you dont understand their behavior.
Thank you for this , I didn’t know there was a alternative to declawing , I will definitely do this to my kitten thank you so much ! Long live my couches lol
If you get into trouble with your cats scratching, you can do many things to help with this. So furniture, cats scratch furniture for two main reasons, scent marking and to help their nails shed. Having many cat scratching posts right by the couch on each end, where the cat scratches helps. I also found adding their scent to the couch helps a great deal. So get a well used blanket/towel etc by the cat and rub it around where the cat is scratching. Don't worry it's not a smell you will notice, I'm not talking about making it stink like cat piss or anything. Lots of positive reinforcement with the cat. If your cat doesn't know how to use the post, you just need to use it yourself and start scratching. May take time, so patience is crucial. Making sure the cat is comfortable in the house as well. Sometimes it can be a cat acting out because they feel insecure in their space in the house. Essentially cats need to feel like they have places in all rooms, even if it's just a blanket they like or a cat post. You don't have to go crazy, but just be considerate of the cat and make sure high activity areas have a away for the cat to move around without engaging with the chaos. Trimming their nails is another one. If it's scratching people that's the problem, then it's different. Never play with your cat with your body, that is just teaching your cat, that your body is okay to claw and attack. Otherwise it may be a problem with the cat feeling insecure about the house, or even you over stimulating the cat and not paying attention the their body signals to stop. Serious boredom to. There's also medical reason, or a cat that's feral etc. Though if all else fails speaking with a vet about these caps may be your answer. Just please never declaw a cat for scratching furniture or kill them. There are options if you put in the effort and are willing to care properly for the cat. Seen too many cats being killed for doing something that is healthy and natural. It sounds like you were looking for other solutions as it is, so thank you for researching to help you and your cat.
Declawing is illegal here in NYS as of last summer. It's essentially amputation of the 1st joint in the digit. Now if they would just add tail docking and ear cropping....😞

I just got some Kitty Caps tonight, we got new beautiful couches 3 days ago. My cat came back from being gone a year, about 2 months ago, and there’s no way I’ll chance I’ll my spouse wanting him gone for that. He’s a huge dog person. I did trim, filed them. But I looked at the nail cap to see what length (plus chose a size too to fit). It’s NOT fun to experience with your cat, but to save furniture, carpets, etc. Even if they fall off, I’m keeping at it! (Women know a bad nail set! So I was thinking to use alcohol to help the glue.) I’ll comment back here in 2 weeks! Kitty Caps is what I used by Whisker City.
This sounds like a good for our new kitchen. NuBoi is a very rambunctious but also a sweetie. My question about the tips, how sanitary are they with litter box usage?
Man she is such a sweet kitty! I tried putting them on our 4month old kitten and shooweee! She already is a handful. So needless to say, she was not happy. We got one paw really good and the other is only 2 claws. Imma let her calm down and try to finish tomorrow night. I read to give them their favorite food after as a reward. So that’s what I’m shooting for
My cat shreds me to pieces when I cut her claws so to get to the stage of adding the tips would be a miracle. Actually because my little siamese is very playful and uses her 2 scratching posts but also my furniture, my arms and my legs I am seriously considering declawing her. As an alternative, approximately how expensive would it be to cut and tip her claws at a groomer.
my biggest concern with nails caps is whether or not the cat can still retract their claws after putting them on. I dont want to hurt the cat by them not being able to retract their claws
I am considering these for the first time because my cat has had an allergic reaction and is constantly scratching herself. I've always wondered this about these caps: How do they retract their claws once they are on? Is it uncomfortable for them? Thanks.
Yeah there is no way my cat will allow me to do any of that. I got the Kitty Kaps and now my hands look like they went through a meat grinder and no caps on my cat. Should I consult a groomer?
Just declaw. My cats are declawed and very happy and healthy. It's a total myth that it hurts them. Emotional bleeding heart people can make a lot of noise but that doesn't' make what they believe true.
@@joyglass4470 a myth that it hurts them? They cut the tips off their feet, including part of the bone and pads underneath their feet. It's the equivalent of cutting off the tips of your fingers and half your fingernails off. Cutting anything off your body is going to be a painful experience after the fact and possibly during the fact.
Jared5439 no one throws a fit over neutering, which is where people literally cut off an animals genitals. But when a cat gets declawed it’s all of a sudden inhumane and cruel? Doesn’t make any sense. My friend has 3 declawed cats that are very happy
@@pjay1227, not sure what you're rambling on about or why you think I would care. I factually stated it's a myth that it won't hurt at all. Attention span lacking.
so i did this for my 3 month old kitten and it was asleep and when it woke it i could tell it was in discomfort so i didn't know what to do because i can't take them off due to the glue. My Kitten keeps ripping them off and i found one cap on the floor with a nail and the kitty won't let me look. i'm very concerned about him and he won't stop taking them off even if that means he's hurting himself. what do i do?!
when they get off dont put it back on until you know how to put it on correctly and maybe try making the nail cap shorter by cutting because I saw in another comment that it's better for the health? I am not too sure
Thanks for this video. Generally, would a pet store do this for me do you think? I don’t think I’d be confident enough to do this in case I messed up. Thanks

Synotrax Do you think it’s a problem for an indoor cat with no other pets or kids? Mine doesn’t need to defend herself. My apartment is having work done so my cat and I are staying elsewhere and she is scratching up the floor and windowsills. I keep her nails trimmed so I don’t know what else to do. She’s ruining the floor and I don’t own the place.
What about the glue being used? In my kit it just has superglue, cyanoacrylate. I'd really like a more animal-safe glue. I'm currently looking for an adhesive that's pet safe and activated via UV light.
I'm getting some for my cat bc he has some issues with ripping his ears and eye apart from scratching himself we've taken him to the vet they don't know why he itches so it for his safety
My cat does the same. He's allergic (food and stress related allergies) and when he's stressed, he just obsesses about scratching one spot. He used to chew his own tail. Now is the ear scratching. Sometimes it's due to environmental or behavioral issues such as other cats/members of the family stressing them, sometimes is just a "habit" they get as a way to release tension (i.e. if they don't get enough play time). It's interesting to try different routines, or give them spaces just for them. But sometimes this doesn't help and you can't break the cycle so things like these claw caps are a good solutions. But I would def recommend you get him checked for allergies or infections in the ears if you haven't already. Good luck!
@@cloti6651 I've brought him to the vet and they couldn't find any source of allergies or bugs or anything and it's almost as though he has something identical to roulette almost where he loses balance and falls over locked in it
I think this is a great alternative to declawing. I looked into declawing and omg its literally amputating the end of their toes. I have a kitten now that I rescued, and my mother has paper thin skin and doesn't heal well. I want to protect my mother and also be able to have my little Luna in the home. I'm looking into these as an option.
My kitty is seriously more like a dog than a cat. He loves to chew, play fetch, even going for walks on a leash. Oh and let's not forget the never ending battle with him dragging the floor mats out of my bathroom! My concern with these nail caps is that once I get them on him, he will chew them right off. Has anyone else had this problem with their kitty? The other thing I'm concerned with is he is NOT a patient kitty whatsoever. It takes me FOREVER just to fight with him to clip his claws? Any suggestions besides taking him to his vet or a groomer to have this done? Thank you.
I have a recent rescue who won’t let me hold or restrain her yet. I haven’t tried putting on the caps yet but for trimming her nails it makes a huge difference if I wait to do it until she’s sleepy. I wait until she’s asleep somewhere her paws are easily accessible (ie on the couch not under the bed), and do a few nails as she’s waking up. I stop as soon as she gets too agitated and finish up another time. If I try to clip them when she’s active or playful, or if I try to do all of them at the same time, she just yanks her feet away and ends up hurting herself as I’m trying to trim. Hope that helps a little.
Your cat sounds just like a cat. Don’t know why the comparison of a dog was made-if you had sharp teeth and nails wouldn’t you find ways to use them on things other than food?
@@strawbolita my friends cat that passed away recently was a Siamese mix. He DEFINITELY acted like a dog. Loved to roll on the ground and show it's stomach and even let me rub it's belly many times if not every time. not every cat is like this. Most DOGS are. Why aren't we allowed to compare a cat to a dog. Most cats aren't inclined to be rubbed on the stomach , go outside , or are super playful like a dog. Those are mostly dog traits. Cats have a range of personalities but dogs have mostly the same. Playful and pack animals. I've rarely seen a dog that isn't just happy to see anyone and want to play. By time I get bills paid , and buy household items and her food and litter, I'm be broke and have nothing left to get food for myself and I live on disability 😢😢
I keep hearing that the nail caps force their claws to remain out all the time? Maybe I haven't read enough content to make a good decision. Help? I was hoping to put some on a foster boy that keeps scratching... long story short, he was an abandoned kitty and we took him in. Bad earmites... vet treated him and neutered him, but earmites keep returning, despite multiple treatments (yes, I know they're hard to get rid of... using drops as well as occasional 1-tip and peroxide cleanup), but he keeps scratching. He was beaten up and scratched up by what I guess would be feral cats before we rescued him. HIV positive, so he has a suppressed immune system
I've never clipped cat nails before, though I know how important it is not to clip too far. What clippers do you advise getting? Is there something I should look for to know the quality is good?
My cat got traumatized after staying in a few days in a horrible vet and a lot of progress I made in getting close to her was thrown away. She became very sensitive when someone touches her too much especially in some areas (mouth, belly, and paws). This made it impossible for her to get her nail trimmed even by vets(not the horrible one) and groomer. Hopefully this could be the solution for her and to save her groomer.
4:18 Poor thing... We can see her nails have been completely chipped/broken by the nail clipper. :( I only trim the very tip of my cat's nails (less then 2mm).
@@angelwithfun3283 it's simply claw shed. Nothing serious at all. Domestic cats bite off the top layer of the claw to reveal the sharper claw underneath, same when they scratch on things.
No, they don't do that. They are known to allow the nail to work as usual if applied properly, and are widely vet-approved for safety and comfort. No vet would approve something that significantly disrupts the cat's function because it would be physically and mentally bad for the cat.
My kitten is only like 5 weeks old. How old kittens need to be to glue nail caps on them? I want to do this to my kitten as early as possible so she grows up getting use to it
I need to use them because my cat attacks my other so severely his nose is scarred. But she won't sit still enough to apply these 😭. She's chill until I mess with the paws.
Is it ok to proceed with the nail cap if I trimmed the nail first and it splintered a bit from the side? I tried to put the cap kinda sideways first so I can fit it in, in growth direction, but my cat kept squirming away
I'm buying a Bengal kitten. He's currently only 4 Lbs., (he's the runt of the litter), and he's 3 months old and growing. What I need to know is what size should I buy for him?
I just tried this and don't think I did it right some of her fire stuck to one and then I tried putting another on and she wouldn't left me so there was glue on her nail so her nail is stuck to her skin I think it was a mess and I traumatized her she was already anxious 😟
That is the sweetest little kitty cat.❤️ I’m trying to decide if my two cats need this. One always seems to scratch me up just by jumping and playing and I’m fed up with these marks! I’ll probably try it on that one first before moving to try them on my bigger pawed kitty.
The cat had a nail that was spilt and when she put the nail cap with glue in it the cat seemed like it was in pain. I wonder if the glue burns like nail glue/supper glue?!
My cat has been scratching her face lately. And she won't allow it to heal at her temple. I tried trimming but it only helped a little. I think she'll stop digging once it heals. I wonder if these help with that. And it nope. I found no signs of fleas. And her brother is just fine.
Im trying to do this with my cat and she always puts up a fight. Idk what to do at this point because we are moving and getting new furniture and my parents don't want her clawing things so they want her to get declawed because no alternative is working.
Thank you for your video! I just couldn't get enough info about the caps and thought these caps are the "dumbest thing invented" but now I know. I researched the declawing and it's just barbaric. I have Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis and can't have my kitty Binx scratching me but I can't put him through that. 💔

I cannot see most cats putting up with this even a docile cat. Don't they chew at their nails and try to get them off? When I used to get my nails done they were always falling off, too. Also isn't the glue kind of dangerous if a cat is chewing at their nails?
Thank you for this video my fur babies have scratched my little little girl so we bought nail caps. I am lucky my three cat babies love being groomed toe beans and all.
We’ve always declawed our cats and now we have a new kitten. It’s not going to be safe for our older cats if a fight breaks out so I’m looking at this option. They made it illegal to declaw where I live as of January 1, 2021. Our other cats have never had a problem with the declaw process. Within a week they were fine. They are happy, spoiled, well taken care of kids. People have limbs amputated and get along fine after. Dogs get their tails docked and some get their ears clipped. What’s the difference?
The difference is there is no medical reason to declaw a cat. Are you really comparing amputation for aesthetic ( including docking tails and ears ) to amputating a limb for medically necessary reasons? Wow. Just because you don't "see" a bad side effect doesn't mean there isn't one. Declawing is akin to cutting off your fingers at the first knuckle "just because". Cam you technically still use your hands and fingers? Sure. Does that make it any less traumatic? No.
I'm glad it's illegal there. Declawing is inhumane and unnecessary. Learn how to train your cat, don't amputate perfectly healthy limbs because you're lazy and unprepared.
Wish I could do this on my furniture scratching ragdoll, but her paw “feathers” make it impossible for me to reach her claws properly with a nail cap and adhesive. The glue would get stuck in that long fur between her toes :( I can barely trim her nails because of it.
I have a ragdoll too and she is fussy so I have to bundle her into a blanket and take out one paw at a time, trim the excess fur between each finger. Feed her a treat in between each paw... Or take her to a groomer. Even just annually, they should get it trimmed enough that it's easier for you to maintain on your own every month.
I'm having a breakdown right now. My mom said, if I can't put these on my cats she's either declawing them or re homing them I love them so much I can't get them to hold still
@@typhus7796 I know. But there shouldnt be any pain with this, they just dont like bein held down. And some cats wont use a scratchin post. My stepdaughters cat wont, & shes tried all kinds. Even with a post, the bench on her workout machine is in shreds.
I just went to the vet, consulting whether or not to declaw her front claws. (I had mixed feeling about it), so I went to Petco and bought some of these nail caps and also calming collars... but she was still feisty about me cutting and putting them on. Nonetheless, I’ve only got the front claws, I didn’t even want to mention the back claws 😒. We’ll see how they are, and then we’ll go from there
Declawing can create great problems with a cat. It can never ever be a thought. Basically like cutting off our finger tips at the first finger bone or knuckle bone if you research it Hope you never resort to that ❤️
A few tips I’ve learned putting on covers:
How about don’t be lazy and clip there nails every week so they don’t have to be covered and they can still live there best life
@@christianwilliams8967 There's a lot of reasons why they're covered. Cats claw on furniture, even when they have posts and trees to scratch, they will still do it. Cats also carry a disease in their claws and teeth so if you get scratched/bit you can get an infection. It has nothing to do with laziness and is completely harmless.
So helpful!

I have a cat who has trouble retracting her claws - so she gets stuck to things. Stuck to pillows which fall off the couch with her still attached. Stuck to the back of the couch. Stuck to the washing basket in a really bad pretzel shape and limping for a few days afterwards... she was injuring herself and we were trimming and it still would happen.. even the vet was worried that declawing her might be safer (the vet was horrified to even suggest it, but the cat could've killed herself so the vet was also a bit at a loss..)
Thankfully i found these online that day after the vet, and it had a simple diagram how to do it. My cat hates being petted, hates being held, but allows me enough time to trim her nails, and enough time to put all the nail caps on her. She just sits in my lap, waiting for her manicure to be done.
Showed the vet who was so happy to find out there was another solution..
You're a good friend to your cat
Your vet did not have this idea?

Putting my first caps on tomorrow for a new client after grooming her 3 dogs. Thank you for the video!
I wish my cats could be this well behaved when I clip their nails
Try doing it when your cat is sleepy. That way he/she won't make too much of a fuss. And always be calming and gentle 😼

Please dont declaw cats it's like someone cutting off the tips of all yoir fingers .. all the best to you and your little fury friends

So I was thinking to use alcohol to help the glue.)
I’ll comment back here in 2 weeks!
Same thought here. That’s exactly my concern. Any additional information on this would be super helpful.
cat claws dont retract all the way actually! they usually sit out a bit so the caps are perfectly fine!!
It doesn't get in the way of them retracting their claws. Claw caps are harmlees.

You and husband don't have to be cat parents, is a criminal act to declaw, informed better about ethology needs for cats
I am considering these for the first time because my cat has had an allergic reaction and is constantly scratching herself. I've always wondered this about these caps: How do they retract their claws once they are on? Is it uncomfortable for them? Thanks.
I was wondering this too
Yeah there is no way my cat will allow me to do any of that. I got the Kitty Kaps and now my hands look like they went through a meat grinder and no caps on my cat. Should I consult a groomer?
Try getting some animal cbd that should help calm them down enough for you to do it
Just declaw.

That’s such a cute kitty! 🐈
so i did this for my 3 month old kitten and it was asleep and when it woke it i could tell it was in discomfort so i didn't know what to do because i can't take them off due to the glue.

What about the glue being used? In my kit it just has superglue, cyanoacrylate.

Try epoxy resin. Might work might not.
Resin is toxic

Hey on a lot of cat trimmers there is a little safety backing that can prevent you from going too deep!
What a patient little kitty
My cat got traumatized after staying in a few days in a horrible vet and a lot of progress I made in getting close to her was thrown away. She became very sensitive when someone touches her too much especially in some areas (mouth, belly, and paws). This made it impossible for her to get her nail trimmed even by vets(not the horrible one) and groomer. Hopefully this could be the solution for her and to save her groomer.
Why is she so chill. 🥺🥺
4:18 Poor thing... We can see her nails have been completely chipped/broken by the nail clipper. :(
I only trim the very tip of my cat's nails (less then 2mm).
Aw omg I just saw that😭
@@angelwithfun3283 it's simply claw shed. Nothing serious at all. Domestic cats bite off the top layer of the claw to reveal the sharper claw underneath, same when they scratch on things.
She is so cute! Thanks for sharing this short and helpful vid!
Do these prevent the nail from being able to fully retract?
Yes I think so
stewie poohie No if they are put on correctly and are the right size they should be able to carry out all normal paw functions
No, they don't do that. They are known to allow the nail to work as usual if applied properly, and are widely vet-approved for safety and comfort. No vet would approve something that significantly disrupts the cat's function because it would be physically and mentally bad for the cat.
Such a fine feline specimen! Now she is even more beautiful with her stylin pink nails and the couch and G-maw are safe.
My kitten is only like 5 weeks old. How old kittens need to be to glue nail caps on them? I want to do this to my kitten as early as possible so she grows up getting use to it
Should i push to the base of the nail (Piece of skin where nails grow)?
Avoid their skin at all costs
The cap can get stuck to the skin and not come off properly
Does this stop them from being able to retract their claws?
Yes.
I need to use them because my cat attacks my other so severely his nose is scarred. But she won't sit still enough to apply these 😭. She's chill until I mess with the paws.
My cat is scratching himself bloody due to unpredictable allergies and my vet recommended trying these to help him heal. So thank you for that video.
Is it ok to proceed with the nail cap if I trimmed the nail first and it splintered a bit from the side? I tried to put the cap kinda sideways first so I can fit it in, in growth direction, but my cat kept squirming away
Do they keep the nail out or does it allow the nails to retract back in? It looks like I. This video the cats nails are out now.
I'm buying a Bengal kitten. He's currently only 4 Lbs., (he's the runt of the litter), and he's 3 months old and growing. What I need to know is what size should I buy for him?
what should you do if the cat won't sit still my 7 month old is not to happy about having her paws touched and pulls away so i can't get them on
I just tried this and don't think I did it right some of her fire stuck to one and then I tried putting another on and she wouldn't left me so there was glue on her nail so her nail is stuck to her skin I think it was a mess and I traumatized her she was already anxious 😟
That is the sweetest little kitty cat.❤️ I’m trying to decide if my two cats need this. One always seems to scratch me up just by jumping and playing and I’m fed up with these marks! I’ll probably try it on that one first before moving to try them on my bigger pawed kitty.
Just My Favourite Kind Of Cat, Very Soft & Sweet. Also It's Very Calm & Patient.
The cat had a nail that was spilt and when she put the nail cap with glue in it the cat seemed like it was in pain. I wonder if the glue burns like nail glue/supper glue?!
honestly its the same glue we use on humans.
General Pet Grooming and nail glue does NOT burn!!!! Thanks for this I might be able to have a cat now! 💜
I noticed that too! Careless groomer. 😾
sugarplumfairy groomer shouldn’t of rushed
I might be wrong but I think it's not split it's only shedding.
Isnt it true that these mean they cant retact their claws fully though?
Very helpful tutorial, thank you for taking time to make this❤️😁
My cat has been scratching her face lately. And she won't allow it to heal at her temple. I tried trimming but it only helped a little. I think she'll stop digging once it heals. I wonder if these help with that.
And it nope. I found no signs of fleas. And her brother is just fine.
Maybe it's ear mites, my cat had it when she was a kitten, check her ear. If they are dirty it could be ear mites.
I recommend an e-collar or take her in to see the vet.
Thank you for making this video! I just ordered some caps and now I know how to put them on!😂🙏
What happens if the glue gets on the fur and pad paw?
Does cats claws continue to grow even after the caps go on, do you need to recap their nails periodically
Yes they continue to grow, and eventually the caps will come off so you need to recap them
Is there any way liter can get under them?
Im trying to do this with my cat and she always puts up a fight. Idk what to do at this point because we are moving and getting new furniture and my parents don't want her clawing things so they want her to get declawed because no alternative is working.
Thank you for your video! I just couldn't get enough info about the caps and thought these caps are the "dumbest thing invented" but now I know. I researched the declawing and it's just barbaric. I have Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis and can't have my kitty Binx scratching me but I can't put him through that. 💔
Binx? From Hocus Pocus? 😊😊
Thank you so much! This was so helpful!

is there any conerns about the glue being toxic?
I cannot see most cats putting up with this even a docile cat. Don't they chew at their nails and try to get them off? When I used to get my nails done they were always falling off, too. Also isn't the glue kind of dangerous if a cat is chewing at their nails?
Thank you for this video my fur babies have scratched my little little girl so we bought nail caps. I am lucky my three cat babies love being groomed toe beans and all.
Towel wraps or cat bags are better than scruffing per the AAFP.
How close do you get to the nail bed
Even just annually, they should get it trimmed enough that it's easier for you to maintain on your own every month.
isnt it more complicated to take the nail caps off ? bcs its glued
I'm having a breakdown right now. My mom said, if I can't put these on my cats she's either declawing them or re homing them I love them so much I can't get them to hold still
If the cat were to jump or fall would it land on four paws or would the cat nail cap prevent it to
They can jump and land perfectly with them
Idk why some people may not like this, its much better than declaw! And scratched up furniture.
@@typhus7796 I know. But there shouldnt be any pain with this, they just dont like bein held down. And some cats wont use a scratchin post. My stepdaughters cat wont, & shes tried all kinds. Even with a post, the bench on her workout machine is in shreds.
My cat will barely let me touch her, how do you cap the claws on a spawn of Satan?
LOL catnip maybe? 😂
She’s such a sweet heart ❤️
Is glue non toxic .?
Not to the animal. It comes with the package
We’ll see how they are, and then we’ll go from there
Declawing is inhumane.
Declawing can create great problems with a cat. It can never ever be a thought. Basically like cutting off our finger tips at the first finger bone or knuckle bone if you research it Hope you never resort to that ❤️
I'm glad you went this route instead of declawing. Declawing a cat is a barbaric procedure akin to having your first knuckles amputated.
