"The Universe" FF4 Orchestral Remix (Another Moon & Lunarians)

- "The Universe" is my musical theme for the journey of beloved Cecil from Earth to the Moon, based on the tracks "Another Moon" and "Lunarians" from Final Fantasy 4 (originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu). In this arrangement, I wanted to convey several different aspects of the story sections, locales and characters concerned with the moon in FF4. Hopefully, there is a subtle aesthetic/emotional hint of Cecil, FuSoYa, Kluya, Golbez, Zemus or even the Namingway and sleeping Lunarians present in this remix.
At first, Cecil must journey outward into the great expanse. It is almost like the cracking of an egg or a plunge into a subterranean lake. Then, a heavenly body appears amid the chaos, whereupon the hero journeys inward, discovering the lunar core (which exists as shining crystal- a physical manifestation of the very essence of life).
The party's "outer" journey via the belly of the whale unto the stars has a similar trajectory to Cecil's "inner" journey as a knight. Like his dark armour, the exterior of the moon is crepuscular and raw, even though the Lunarians were advanced, wealthy and numerous; it is entirely possible that it was turned into a wasteland via the drastic actions and experiments carried out by desirous warlords, such as Zemus. Only within lies the vestige of the Lunarian culture, where the purer hearted mystics preserved, along with the bodies of the survivors, magic, truth and immeasurable beauty. Likewise, within every man and woman is both an enlightened "paladin" and a "dark knight". The path of the dark knight is one of immediate gratification, destructive impulses and shortsightedness in the guise of power and victory. It offers an enticing facsimile of what is truly enduring and fulfilling in life.
The video is meant to underscore the cyclical nature of growth and enlightenment within each "hero". The planet in the centre fades in an out, sometimes bright and sometimes dim- and sometimes (a la the first and last phases of a moon) seeming not to exist at all. At points, it appears as though the "dark knight" is growing and menacing, yet it is the nature of the ego to ebb and flow, for the purification of the "soul" or "mind" is an eternal balancing act; once must dance with one's shadow for the rest of his days or succumb to it utterly.
The art I used is a collage of space pictures, an official concept painting (link: vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/... ) and this piece of fan art: imgur.com/a/Gp80L (I don't know the name of the artist, though.)

Oh... wow! You really captured that alien feeling of the Moon!
Thank you! :D
Wow, this is so good! It starts out so ominously and ends with such a mysterious aura. This really makes me want to replay FF4!
Thanks a lot. This is one of the pieces that is closest to my heart! I put a lot into this, conceptually, spiritually and emotionally.
@@RebeccaETripp Your hard work definitely paid off! The arrangement is amazing! ^^
The Lunarian's theme and the moon's theme from FF2/4 have always been my favorite songs out of the whole game. Your orchestral pieces are truly beautiful and bring out a sense of wonder and inspiration.
Thank you so much! This was one of my own favourite arrangements to create! ^_^ I also feel like everything to do with the moon in that game is incredibly meaningful and moving.
Exploring the vastness of the cosmos with this song.
Excellent.
Well done!
I like the speed up and slow down... it really captures a sense of uncertainty and paranoia of being in another world of unexpected encounters around any corner.
Thanks a lot. ^^
RebeccaETripp You never fail to impress wit such creaitivity and incredible insight onto symbolism of themes, in alot of role playing games like Zelda and F.F. Series. Keep it up! : ) Awesome job.
Thank you!
The "fading in-and-out" mentioned in the description is emphasized in this piece. You have masterfully crafted both the light and dark side of the moon. Light and whimsical on one side, while ominous and somewhat unnerving on the other side. But not without coming out the other side better as the piece ends on a cheerful note. Well done, once again!
Thank you very much! That means a lot!
@@RebeccaETripp Go on tour already, so we can come and see you!!!!
I really don't know how you don't have more views on this video. This is an amazing rendition
Thank you. :'3
With your description, this music turned to be so deep and wonderful... you can tell stories with music and it is AMAZING! I love this, best remix on UA-cam! Your musics are starting to fill my days with the kind of sound I want to hear! So thank you! :)
Thanks so much, Sofia!
This is simply amazing.
The best FF4 Moon orchestrated theme on UA-cam.
Thanks so much! :'D
On occasion I will see an upload like this and have to pause before really jumping into it, because I know I am in for a fucking treat. The track turned out amazing.
Thank you so much.
A true masterpiece, this will be the only FF4 music I will think of when thinking of that moment leaving the earths atmosphere. I’ll play this on my deathbed
Your love of FF4 runs deep! I feel this!
I feel this one in my bones.
I'm so glad! I certainly felt it in my bones while I was working on it!
This, is a masterpiece! I love the direction you went with this! If this were a motion picture, this would suit this part of the movie perfectly.
Amazing Job!
Thank you so much! :'D
Ahh, I'll be having this on repeat and sleeping on the moon tonight.
I hope you had good dreams that night. ^_^
@RebeccaETripp I did indeed have good dreams. So much so many times I don't want to wake up. I hope you are doing alright In our time on earth as of now.
@@Elephantshew I'm making the best of things, watching and waiting. I hope you're doing well also.
@@RebeccaETripp 💜
What a great concept. Telling a story through music is something that's always fascinated me. I especially liked the beginning; it sounded very prog rock-ish. Keep up the great work!
^_^ Thanks. I like psychedelic prog rock a lot. :3
Just amazing...love reading your video description, it is a story in itself and it goes well with the video :)
Nostalgia and chills...
Oh my fucking god.
Wow this takes a song I didn't care much about and makes it great!
:O Which one was it? The Moon theme or the Lunarians' theme?
I like it, good job with the remix Rebecca! :P
Now Final Fantasy IV lives on Earth. I wonder if I'll meet them.
Oh, man… The things you did with these two pieces are absolutely _amazing!_ This gave me chills! Makes me wonder what you could do with the Mysidia Prayer Tower theme, "A Long Way to Go"…
Thank you so much! I do have a really old version of that theme on my channel. I've been wanting to redo it for a while. I also have an arrangement for harp but I need to record it still! The prayer theme is one of my favourites in the game!
another very good remix, hope you keep doing amazing music
What an interesting analysis you have made! Back when I played FF4, going to the moon was just another adventure to me, it never crossed my mind to stop and try to see this. On the remix side, it is amazing! Apart from the great work done on both themes, I really like how you blended them together. These two are between my favorites in FF4, specially Another Moon (it reminds me of Silence and Motion)
Thanks for your comment. :) You have good taste in FF tracks, I think.
Great ambience
This one surprised me!
Both themes have always been favorites of mine. :3
Another wonderful one.
Thanks again! 🍪
I still remember back in 2002 how I was blown when I get at first time the Lunar Whale (Big Whale in SNES version :) ), its amazing structure and music, and after that, the travel into the moon. And the music there...
Such an emotive place indeed. Maybe not my favorite from this game (that one is the Underworld, specially its BEAUTIFUL music :) ), but there's where the story gets their most important lines written.
Yes! The Underworld was my favorite part!! ^_^ The moon was just as amazing but in another way.
Beautiful
Thank you. ^_^
While playing this game: Well this is a nice medievalish fantasy game!
Suddenly you are on the moon: What just happened?
So nice ! I like the screens and the animation also :)
Thanks. ^_^
Having recently re-played this game, I found myself strangely drawn to this tune. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that you of all UA-camr's published your own take on it. Thanks for the continuously emotional and deep music you share :)
Thanks. ^_^
to this day I don't really like the music of the moon in this game it is a little to ominous for my taste but I love what you have done here since you have retained that ominousness and injected just a little bit of hope with some of the lighter instruments it really makes it that much more palatable and dynamic
You know, the first couple times I heard the song in the game, my initial reaction was a mix of feeling excited and put off. Those trumpets were a little obnoxious, but the tune they were playing was so intriguing and its own right. It wasn't until I just sat down and allowed myself to listen to the whole thing that I realized how achingly beautiful the chorus was. I experienced the kind of aesthetic rapture. Funnily enough, hearing that song, as well as some of the other tracks in FF4, such as the end credits theme, got me interested in Star Trek! Uematsu had very successfully communicated mankind's irrepressible dream of exploring distant worlds.
@@RebeccaETripp never thought about it like that, you raise many good points!
I love this one, for me it's divided in 2 parts, you start with darkness / mysterious / action, it sounds like a track of Die Hard at a moment :)
After you have a light part that sounds more about a big travel in some special place and you finish with the magical Rebecca touch :)
Your description could be the page of a full fantasy novel, you have the writing style and quality to do it if you wish
FF4 is truly your favorite, you do a lot of them =3
Thank you, once again!
Wonderful remix... Should be in the remastered game.
Thanks so much!
:heart emojii:
Oh god.. I love it!
Thanks!
Previously I've not read the footnotes; silly me! I'll admit that having little understanding of the actual game precessed my thinking and froze out those tunes I didn't understand the background of. Well, that means going back and filling in the blanks i guess. far out eh...
^_^ Thanks, Dad! It's cool that you like game music, haha! FF4 (the game these melodies were from) is what made me decide to become a musician- or a composer, anyway!
Bet they will play this in FFXIV : Endwalker in this vein
We already have Golbez Theme
I'm hoping we fight zeromus as the final boss
Can I remaster this?
First :D
😎
