  • Guys what can I say…
    I wasn’t sure if I should put this up at first but Kev was ok with his moment going up and if nothing else this channel is as authentic as it gets,it is was it is.
    People who know how much effort I put into my fishing and this channel tbf can probably understand.
    Others may not! but here it is laid bare please comment and offer advice as you see fit but if you do please watch the whole thing first.
    I’ve always gone for a very heavy drag but i think it cost me this fish so from now im going to try a lighter drag and see how i get on.
    Thanks for your continued support tight lines Paul 🎣

    I know the feeling. Today I lost a big fish too.... Couldn't do much. It spooled me and then dove into the rocks😢😢 It's all in the game

    Hi Paul, i switched to a 12ft spinning rod predominately because i needed the extra distance to fish from beaches as you do. I wanted to avoid waders because i walk for miles on sessions so a 12ft spinning rod was the answer for me. I happened to catch a 75cm monster and im sure i wouldnt have landed it on a shorter flimsy stick. 😅. The larger rod gives much more control over fish and i would never swap back to a 9ft. I can pop a seeker 100yds with no effort, even further if i really thwack it.

      @chuckitandsea  27 днів тому

      Hi Phillip, I have thought about getting a long 60ish gram rod. I think I would only use it at this particular mark tho. If I was fishing for the table I would I’m sure but as it’d for sport I want it to be an enjoyable scrap on a 40-50 cm fish as that’s what I normally catch. It’s a double edged sword I guess. In this instance it was the leader that broke as I had too much drag on so doubt that a bigger rod would have helped. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @phillipb72
      @phillipb72 27 днів тому

      @chuckitandsea Yup, smaller fish are less fun on on the 12ft for sure. Twitching the lures with the wrist is also hard with the 12ft.

      Yeah it was a propa take it just sucked it in and it went solid and heavy.. you know it’s big as they seem to think about it before they go off on a run. Almost like they are going “oh shit that’s not food” fuck run/swim 😂

    I know that feeling 😢 very unlucky with that one. I hate losing any fish but the big ones stay with you for a while. All will be forgotten when you land the next big fish. These F360s certainly do the business for you, I will have to get some in once I've gone through my seekers. Thanks for another great video.

      I’m sure within seconds of me holding up an easy double I will forget about this … it’s all part of the learning process I guess. F360 is a good lure but I still don’t think it’s quite as versatile as the seeker. Time will tell when I want a metal I will be fishing them back to back so it will all unfold on the channel 👍🏻

    Many moons ago I lost a 12 plus out in the boat I watched it all happen fish was just beyond net reach on top of the water ready for the net it flared its gills and shook its head I could see the line wrapped around its gill raker good bye I did swear. 70 was a complete fluke hooked it and had it on the weed in less than 30 seconds not sure who was more surprised 😳 was nice watching her swimming away. Have ago at night with albie snax have caught 11 fish in last two night sessions 3 over 50 try dropping tide with a bit of depth over some structure the hits can be on the drop, mid retrieve or literally under your feet it’s very addictive I would say more than top water as you are relying on touch or feel as you slowly wind in 👍🏼

    Unlucky, we've all been there though and it hurts. You'll get your double soon with the time and effort you put in. A quick question: What wading boots do you use? I'm currently using some old, oversized trail shoes but they rubbish on rough ground, no grip..

  • @BigT73
    @BigT73 Місяць тому +1

    Paul can I give you a bit of advice please mate 🙏 Don't pump your rod when you get a fish on because it allows the line to go slack. It's fine with the big beachcasters because you've got a instant hook hold but these bass are very finicky and they try to engulf the bait and then spitting it out at the last second. Get that rod nice and high and keep it high just so the tension stays on the hook hold 👍

    • @chuckitandsea
      @chuckitandsea  Місяць тому +1

      Yes of course any advice welcome 👍🏻
      I get where you’re coming from and don’t disagree with where you’re coming from. In this instance I did just that ! Any movement you can see in the rod was from where the fish was taking line from my very tight drag (probably what cost me the fish) it wasn’t coming off smoothly! I just put the rod up and held on the fish was very well hooked it was the leader that broke in the middle the lure was still in the fish hopefully it rotted out quickly 😳

    • @BigT73
      @BigT73 Місяць тому +1

      @@chuckitandsea Those big Bass are very fit Paul and it certainly seems like you hooked a big fish as when they turn around and steam off like that they are more than likely a special fish. You will be rewarded for your loss mate and maybe just give the drag a turn back so it can turn and take some line otherwise it will just pull out of the corner of its lip. Honestly looking at the footage you gave us it certainly looked like a tank and to part your leader it's got to have been a big fish 🐟🎣

    • @chuckitandsea
      @chuckitandsea  Місяць тому

      I’m confident it was an easy double but we will never know. I’ve reduced my drag considerably even a solid 60 didn’t take any line the way I had it set up that day! I had a nice 54 on the new setting and it pulled 3 small amounts of drag I’m guna practice ready for the next time 👍🏻

  • @nicks2475
    @nicks2475 Місяць тому

    I feel your pain I have lost and landed big fish I would say I fish with not such a tight drag now and keep calm and take my time on the big ones. It's all part of game and keeps us coming back you can't win them all.

    • @chuckitandsea
      @chuckitandsea  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah that’s the plan I’ve backed my drag off and am practicing being comfortable with the drag going. I had a stunning 54 the other day and it was a pleasure to play it👍🏻 it took line on 3 or 4 occasions. So that’s the plan get accustomed to it ready for the next time I get a big one.
