Astrometica is a fun game about surviving in space. You need to use your skills and tools to stay alive. There are many challenges to face, and you need to fight to survive. You also need to build a new base in space.

But Breathedge wasn't very good... hopefully this one is! Subnautica is an S-tier game in my opinion.
Breathedge was comedic at times but never finished it. Subnautica is an amazing game hopefully this game will take pointers from both.

It's pretty much a copy of Star Shelter - a great VR space survival game - which was obviously heavily inspired by Subnautica.

It's pretty much a copy of Star Shelter - a great VR space survival game - which was obviously heavily inspired by Subnautica. Difference is SS had base defense (against asteroids and drones), you moved mostly by pushing off things, and the debris around you kept moving and changing, and the base-building was less derivative of Subnautica than this is, though I don't think it made it as far as expanding the hull.
Planet Crafter meets Breaths Edge. If you think this looks good, go play the two games that clearly inspired it. Breaths Edge especially, that game is highly underrated. So fun 😁

I've played a game similar to this one, Breathedge. But they quickly abandoned the space survival and focused on a more comedic approach with a more narrow game progression. Instead of having a big open world, similar to Subnautica, the game devolved into space corridors that you advance through to then advance the story. The story was kind of funny, but I bought the game because I expected a space survival on par with Subnautica. Now, Astrometica seems to take itself more seriously than Breathedge, but it's too soon to say if it will be good.
I tried playing a bit of Breathedge, but I find the humor and narration to be too distracting and annoying. I wonder if there's a mode that turns that off but is still fun to play.

That whistling menu sound worked a hole through my brain. The game looks cool, but I would HAVE TO mute the menu sounds or pass.
This isnt just like subnautica.. its a copy paste model of it, many of the tools and items even have nearly identical look and feel. When I saw this my first thought was, this must be some extra game created bt subnautica's Unknow worlds.. but nope. Just a creator that said "hmm hugely successfull survival game, lets copy that"
Wonder if there is any actual story elements in this.
People in my comment section have mentioned at least 4 different games they think this is a copy of. 😸

Very interested in this playthrough! At first I wondered if I had seen this game before on your channel and after a while I realized your preview was their trailer and was land-based. I love these space visuals/environments! And I love the craft & explore mechanic. Very much would like to see more episodes :D (I may not have the time to take part in the play test, but I'll try :P)
It's a very cool game that I've been keeping a **very** close eye on. I believe the playtest is only available for about a week or so.

You can only build storage in your base. can have two solar panels on the module. then put battery on top an bottom.
I wish they could make fabricator move like subnautica

Not stoned, but I was actually pretty sick when I recorded this. I was actually not feeling very good at all. The playtest is only available for a very short time so I really wanted to play and get that video out to my audience. 😺
Thank you for covering this game. After finishing the current content for The Planet Crafter, this is definitely one to keep an eye on as a potential good follow up.

Okay, so I have to ask.
34:20 - ish - You got into that supply room, had at least 10 nuggets of silver, why would you pass up free resources? I don't get what was going on here. That was a solid 6 - 8 Iron bars you would not have to spend time on crafting or spend resources on crafting. Like... why pass that up? Overall, it was nice to get a look at this game, but some of your gameplay decisions (even outside of that one I noted) I didn't understand the logic too. Not saying you are bad, I was just confused.
Inventory space is a bit tight early on. I didn't have enough space to bring everything back on the first trip and even the inventory in the starting habitat is nearly full.
Don't worry, those Iron ingots and silver nuggets aren't going anywhere. I'll be swinging by later to pick them up. We'll make good use of them when building our new base.
@@Glidercat Yea, I think you only had five slots at the time but no worries. I just got confused lol. The game looks good though. I just added it to my wishlist and I am about to try it out.

It's essentially a one-time recharge of the oxygen tank/module attached to us. It would be very cool if you could keep the empty tanks and then just refill them at a station within the habitat.

Yeah. The only reason I didn't bring them back yet is that my personal inventory and the inventory back at base is pretty tight.
Soon, we should be able to build more storage and those iron ingots will come in very handy as we build out our (new) base.
@@Glidercat well I guess my point is you need the ingots to build the tool and everything, you going to use them not store them. Rather than gathering and crafting ingots, you have a bunch ready.
You stop using the jetpack and loose speed???? What is braking you exactly??? Major turn down.

The design is so close to Subnautica it´s almost like a copyright infringement ;) I hope they put in a good range of veciles at some point!
To fast on "low oxygen". That f´ed me up allready in other spacegames. I think i will stay away from this one.

It seems unique enough to me, and it doesn't feel exactly like any other game I've played... and I play hundreds of games.
For the gameplay systems, I was thinking the exact same thing. Story quests and the 3D aspect are different, of course.

Shadowforged Gamerz: I currently have 360 hours in Planet Crafter, and thats just the main 1.0 game [not including before release] I honestly think Astrometica would be INCREDIBLE as a Co-op game for up to 6 players. And the preface of how this starts you could easily go with making it FUN and an ADVENTURE if...
Each player is ported into the game AT DIFFERENT Map Locations and you have to establish a comms link in order for everyone to find each other, then together as a team begin collecting resources and building marvelous structures and bases, transportation, mining devices, etc. Damn... I want to play this game NOW! heh heh...🤨👍 ***Like and Subbed to You and BeryMery in response to fave gaming content*** Thank You for the GREAT stream!

Given the name and gameplay, this intends to be Subnautica in place.
The first two mods that everyone installs are Build From Storage, and Increase Storage Size.
Those should both be built in quality of life improvements on day zero.
No game experience has ever been improved by limited storage. Ever.
Build from Storage is a bit too much of a cheat for my tastes, but I agree that increased inventory size never made any player unhappy.

really need to speed up the inventory looking and other dead gameplay parts. I feel like I watched 10min of actual stuff and 40min of o2 trips and figuring out things take 2 of this and 1 of that. You barely made a storage container in 50 minutes

This looks like a cross between Subnautica and The Planet Crafter and it looks like it could be a lot of fun to play.
It's a lot of fun. They have an awesome foundation in place and I'm really hoping they take the time to add a bunch of content.

I think you'll find that dozens of games within the same genre tend to share **a lot** of commonalities. People in my comments have been claiming Astrometica is a copy of 5 different games so far. 😸

It's like if you throw Space Trash Scavenger's and Occupy Mars' gameplay in a blender, and sprinkled in some higher-end modern space game aesthetic vibes, and of course use that same "ultramodern" space game font... (Conthrax, likely?)... serve it up cold, like a Gazpacho, LOL
There's 8 Iron Bars in that storage you didn't pick up. A minor cheat, they respawn after you reload the game, along with a couple other things. Saves on battery of miner. If you're willing to do that though. Up to you.

Some of the things about this game I like but others I don't.
Space, exploring, story, technology all good. Until you get to the air.
Airtank? Just hold your breath. Airtank upgrade? Just take a deeper breath.
Could do with more air in the tanks.
Could balance it out with bigger tanks taking longer to recharge.

I'm really likeing the look of this. Solidly on my radar now! This along with Forever Skies aka Skynautica will have me well satisfied for survival open world crafter games.
Only improvement I can think of just from watching is complete rotation of axis in space. Like the space walks from the Prey videogame. Other than that, it looks pretty cool so far.

Can you actually do any sort of base building in Breathedge? All I remember is picking up thousands of space balls while waiting for the next dumb joke to drop.
@@delphicdescantyes you can, but as soon as you enter Normandy's cutscene, all your building becomes not important (you go to a different location)

You've never been in my feed before, however I like the video and I will try the game. It appears like they have made some good programming choices like materials you can collect get a highlight when you approach them. The main interface is polished and appealing. I hope food programming practices bears out in experience.

I guess you forgot about the stack of iron bars that you said wasn't important.
Also I think there was something under the bed.
I'll be going back to fetch the iron bars. We'll make good use of them. I didn't grab them at the moment only because inventory space is a bit tight.

I get a ton of viewer complaints when a game is really dark. ***PLAYING*** games that are dark turns out to be a lot more enjoyable than ***WATCHING*** those same games on UA-cam.

I was really just saying there might be a flashlight later on, wich you're supposed to unlock to see in the dark xD can't just up the brightness on your own side, that's all xD

@@Glidercat fair enough then, maybe i'm wrong tho xD maybe they're not, but i'd think mood abd setting wise it would make sense. This game seem heavily inspired by breathedge, at least in the core of the gameplay. Wich had a similar start in a pod, uppgrade your suit with jetpack, radiation defense, oxygen tanks and a flashlight, for those dark space caves and unpowered stations
By the way in case nobody noted it, i think it was two episode from this one? You went to explore a signal wich only had a room with a blue print inside for the oxygen station? Or something. There was a bit of a station up behind that, might have been part of the signal

Glidercat why don't you go back and collect the iron bars and chips you left at the other location
I'll be going back to fetch them soon. Right now, my inventory space is pretty tight. I should be able to build more storage soon and those ingots will come in handy as we build out our new base.

@@Glidercat I bring this up because... i'm re-playing subnautica again right now... they imported some of the builds from subnaitica II into 1... so you can build large habs... and i swear, they look exactly like the parts in astrometica. take a look at subnautica and see what i mean.
