In regards to the hip joint, theres a mechanism to bring the hips further down, enabling mr.lupus to kick almost all the way to the forehead. Great for crouching poses.
The drop-down mechanism extends the range a little bit (about 30 degrees more or so), he can't crouch or kick all the way up to his head. But still, more than enough for a buffy and pointy gundam like Barbie.

Look at it this way, there is only one mg from wing gundam anime, the rest are from the manga and movie, 3 of which are p-bandai and 1 of them is extremely hard to find more so for a reasonable price. That says a lot right there. Outside of UC mg, only seed has been given the greater love and care by bandai.
To me the epicness of Barbatos Lupus is that it's condensed in about 5 minutes in the whole IBO storyline. He storms the battlefield and it's immediately full power against the legendary mobile armor Hashmal. Gets wrecked and is never seen again, only to come back as Lupus Rex. That's the beauty of a rare jam.
The price difference between Lupus and Rex is actually insane. Like $300+ for a figure slightly bigger than a high grade. I guess you are paying for quality and accessories though. I hope they make a Hashmal for this line.
for tightening loose joints on my stuff I usually use a light small amount of modpog mix water to seep into joints. But its risky if the figure has weak materials. Modpog is usually used to seal acrylic and paints, also adds protection layer to surface of toy paints. But it is safer to use clear acrylic with water.
I had the same issues with mine with the ball joint shoulders. You can pull them off, just be careful when doing so. I recommend using nail polish on both the socket and the ball to thicken them up, once you do that it 100% fixs it and tightens them while retaining its mobility.
I almost wonder what you would do if they make a mecha musume Barbatos figure. Although I think someone could swing it with 30 Minute Sisters parts (The tail from Option Parts 4, and the legs from Options Parts 3 might be a good start). I also would like to know your thoughts on the upcoming MG effects parts for the MG Barbatos.
"The Lupus is just so much more savage and regal-looking than the just savage looking Rex" Ironic, since Rex means "King" which would imply that it should have more regality. I somehow agree, especially with this particular version. The symmetry, red shoulders and non-over the top-ness really does make it look more... Graceful? Than the wild, beast-looking Rex.
I was crazy lucky to get a preorder of this from an online store in my country at a really good price, and the figure does not disappoint in any regard!
I also love this version of Barbatos the most. IMO, this form perfected the Gundam. Lupus Rex may be an upgrade but to me, it doesn't feel like a Gundam anymore. I hope Bandai will release a MG Barbatos Lupus soon since this is a little expensive for me to get.
Besides the stupidly long side skirt armors and silver claws, I love this design. You are right, the Rex is designed to be an animal, not a gundam anymore. Lupus is the perfect balance of both elegancy and intimidation.
I have mix favorites with the Lupus and Lupus Rex. With Lupus I prefer its head specially with that huge blue gem-like V-fin, shoulders and side skirts. While the Lupus Rex I prefer its arms with its yellow sharp claws and of course its back tail. As for the body and legs, they look almost the same

I built the 4th form MG, and then the full mechanics lupis Rex as my first kits. I even panel lined them after watching your videos. Man. This is my favorite form, so I’ve been kind of saving it. This kit….is gorgeous. Thanks for the video, I appreciate it.
well, I was expecting the blue flames of the shoulders when he is battling the hashmal, the figure has the shoulder drop and the valkyria buster sword, why the figure don't have the flames effect parts?... well, time to do it myself again XD
Received this beauty yesterday and couldn't get my hands off of him for the rest of the day. While I still love the Rex design, the build quality is more solid on this guy fortunately. He has more diecast parts and accessories than Rex too. I hope they will do Metal Build Barbie some time soon, I mean, $100 more to upscale this guy is still worth it in my greedy opinion.
My biggest gripe with ibo designs are the super short thighs so even with a full knee bend, the leg sometimes still looks straight. im so amazed that the metal robot series somehow makes it look perfect all the time?? and i cant even tell what they did different
That's a pet peeve of mine when it comes to MS designs in the Gundam franchise. The designers often make the thighs shorter than the lower legs, which makes those "taking a knee" poses look awkward. Why can't they make it like the RX-78-2 Beyond Global, where both the thighs and the lower legs are equally proportioned?

Hi M.G, great video as always but this time I think you should try a brighter scene/lighting setup. This look quite dark, try a brighter lighting which brings out a lot more details on the figure/mobile suit. Thanks!
I think IBO kits fit better in MG than RG because the 1/100 size make them look really good and the gundam frame in 1/100 would have better detail than 1/144

im drooling. I just got some iron orphan stuff recently but none like this metal lupus rex. NV Jelly U lol. Also Bandai calls that giant sword club a “GRAM” ? I think, I read it on a iron orphan box once. You got me thinking of saving up for Christmas.
It'd be perfect if the wrists weren't so loose. If you guys have any suggestions I would love to hear them but the usual super glue on the joint doesn't work since the hands are swappable. So unless you aren't going to swap the hands for ages, you just end up scrapping the glue off when you swap the hands. There are also awful nub marks on the weapons, the mortars being the worst offender. I do think it's an improvement over the Rex, but the floppy hands just ruin the fun of all it's weapons.
this is an amazing figure.. plus it has all the accessories you could ever want for the Lupus! but the rough cuts is a deal breaker for me.. mainly because it triggers my OCD to an annoying degree 😑
Here i am still waiting for the MG Lupus, and they make one with damashi… my wallet cant take it! They make the damashi version of Lupus instead of Lupus Rex, show that they know alot of ppl prefer the Lupus than the beast Rex.

And was a very pleasant 1st build. I'm about to finish it (decals). I was wondering, about Tamiya TS-80, is it ok for ABS? the Ver.Ka has some ABS parts, but I could not find good enough info about it, I want to seal my build to protect the decals and the gunpla from time hah. This thing is gorgeous! So if you could help me with this I would appreciate it very much. Thankyou.
I love it, and I really want one of my own, but I gotta be honest; the geometric design just doesn't do it for me. I much prefer the original design (of the Lupus. not talking about the Barbatos in all its' forms; just the Lupus). It has a more "graceful" feeling to it. Like a work of art and not just another Gundam Frame. Also, weren't the additional curves actually given an in-universe explanation? Something about re/deflecting projectiles?
The ONLY thing I don't love about this is the face. It's so weird cause it only has 1 mouth vent. Other than that, this thing is fantastic; I wished I could afford it.

I just ordered both this and the Rex and pre ordered the 4th form as well. I have an ungodly back log of kit's already so I said fuck it and went metal buil on my favorite gundam. I do have the mg barbie built though and I love it!!! I really wish with the Rex they would of stuck with the core lupus it's self and simply added on the Rex features. The lupas is barnone my favorite form of barbie. ❤😊

Barbatos Lupus is the rightful owner of the Valkyrja Buster Sword and the Helmwige Reincar is just the sword's storage rack, lol.
