  • Writing is a muscle - it can be strengthened, or it can become weaker if you only do it every so often. The secret is in doing it, every single day.
I believe anyone can become a decent writer. Anyone can improve upon their current writing skills, and it starts with practice.
The faster you can write, the more money you can make online! This is especially true for freelance writers, email writers, and those wishing to bottle their knowledge up in an ebook or regular book.

      everyday, throughout the day XD
I don't consider all my writing "productive" necessarily. Sometimes I'm just jotting ideas down somewhere, sometimes I'm going down rabbit holes for characters I'm writing, sometimes it's stuff I know will likely never see the light of day, etc. These things can be helpful, though. For example, jotting ideas down every day becomes a "forest of ideas" after a while.
Something that keeps me in the habit of writing is writing with some kind of purpose, be it building something like a story bible, if you're into DnD then writing a campaign, if you like to roleplay then writing character bios and plotting out arcs with friends, writing a review or critique for a show you just watched, writing reviews and comments on UA-cam even... You can turn anything into a learning experience without losing the joy of the process by keeping it all in the moment.
Aside from copywriting, I enjoy creative writing. Someday I'd love to work in the gaming industry as a writer, so a lot of my hobbies still feed into my professional interests too.

Hey Alex, your advice has given me the confidence to post on medium and LinkedIn and I have acquired a chance to get a freelance job at an AI company. I just have to take an assessment and I will be on my way. You with your witty advice gives confidence to those of us who don't, even if we are good writers lol. Thank you!

Some tips for those wondering what to write in those 15 minutes:
    - journaling
    - writing sprints (if you're working on a book, this is a great thing to do!!)
    - pick out something to re-write (doesn't have to be bad copy, just copy you think you can improve or even how you'd write copy if it was in another brand's voice)
    - create a document and start writing down ideas every day (over time this will accumulate and you'll be glad you did this)
    - set specific goals such as writing a personality section for Character A in your story bible
    - finding a group or some means to provide feedback or chat with other writers about their work
Some tips on how to "not edit" while writing:
    - don't organize your writing, jot down ideas as they come and then restructure them later
    - get out of the mindset that your draft has to look anything like the finished product, allow it to be full of weird punctuation and bulletpoints and choppy sentences bc you'll fix all that later
    - give yourself permission to be messy during your first drafts
Some tips on where to share your writing:
    - LinkedIn
    - Blogs like Wordpress or Medium
    - sites like FanFiction or AO3 if you're into creative writing
    - find public servers on Discord, search up tags (then as you build friendships create private servers that suit you and the group's personal needs)
    - social platforms like Tumblr, X/ Twitter, and Instagram
    - UA-cam! Leave comments on the videos you like :DDD
    - social anxiety often comes from us fearing we'll say or do the wrong thing and be embarrassed and sharing our writing can be the same sort of thing so start *doing* it on a regular basis and you'll build confidence in yourself and have fun doing it

I struggled with writing in school, and I think it was because, mainly as you said, it wasn't the topics I wanted to write about. It has gotten a lot better as I've had to write in many mediums across a broad range of cases throughout my career. My confidence in my writing style grew as I moved up and as you've smartly laid out, it came with just doing it every day. I don't always employ the same techniques or edit (or not edit) the same way you do, but I think the core of your advice holds true. xoxo
