I love how Fred's smile isn't even creepy, just encouraging
I kept hoping Cecily would roll her eyes and say, "My boyfriend's crazy."
Lol
Also, "He's older."
@@noahrokoske2175 Wow how did I miss that?
I`d listen to any audio-book read by Cecily
True
Me too, but just to get to the ending.
She could do different voices for each character and make it come to life. She'd be good at making audiobooks.
She narrated the audio version of her memoir
hilarious how Fred just sat there! lol
He was the reason I even watched this AND HE SAID NOTHING!
Mmmmm... not that hilarious. I'll click that Dislike button. OK at the end Fred Armison was the last guy remaining. That was mildly funny. Too bad i had to wait 6 minutes to get a laugh. Blehhhhhhhh.
Ryan Vick Jesus you sound like a bitch
Ryan Vick good for you?
He was into it
This was when Cecily was really new. She started out so well, and is still her last name!
I like how she kept reading and looking out like there was still a group of people still in the room
HOW CAN SHE NOT BREAK OUT OF CHARACTER!
I asked myself that same question
She never break character
Cecily is a rock. She and Kate rarely ever break...
She’s a pro
It's cecily
Fred Armisen was perfect casting for this.
ah..humorous...in 2010 i served our nation in aftghanistan...i was not gettin' "some" I was rolling out on missions...where out national security required me and I required "integrity"...
Ok, so this is based on a real person who had a real affair with the person who this real book is about and really did a reading on CSPAN at a place ....really called Politics & Prose ....
And viola, you have satire
Really?
@@christopherb5183 Yeah, I looked it up. The book featured here is the actual book they're spoofing.
@Christopher B It was an actual book about General David Petraeus, a decorated and highly thought of general. Over the course of the many interviews the author had with the general in order to write the book, they began an affair (he was married). The real book is of course serious.
Their affair became a scandal in the media, but more importantly ended with the general being fired(I think), and pleading guilty to mishandling classified information by sharing some with her.
I love this clip (:

Thanks for the great info! ❤️🤘
Fred... oh man... makes the skit so great.
Well, the title is called "All In."
The crescendo of this is so spectacular, building from ever more absurd circumstances and places, peeling away different groups as she walks the room, Cecily sure is great in this piece
I love her Cecily she reading this with serious face
She nailed that monotone voice though. Holy crap, I know too many people who read with that emotionless voice.
I never miss an opportunity to see Bill with glasses 🙌
The general really went All In.
Apparently many, many times.
2:31 Kate's face 😂
Bill Hader‘s face...😅😅
So cute😍😅
"Would you likw to be with a woman like that..?" Kate just walked away.
Riiiiight.
And so did Bill Hader who was waiting as patiently as he could to ask his question but then decides, "Alright, that does it, I can't hear anymore of this," and vamooses.
Fred's wink of a smile!!!😂😂😂😂
fred is so perfect for that moment
3:31 kate’s loving it really 😂❤️
Fred’s smile 🤣😂
that's the kind of cold open I like. the screaming is too much
I was so not expecting this! :D
Bill hader is so hot in the background
Bill Hader is always hot.
I actually wondered what he was about to ask her
He’s hot anywhere 🥵
+1 Bill Hader is THE ULTIMATE HOT GUY!!!!!
+1 here... Bil Hader is ALWAYS HOT, anywhere, any time!!!
Fred knew what he signed up for
I see Bill n Fred , I click like 🤗🤗
Just like in school no one read the book
You take that back....I thoroughly skimmed the book and read the synopsis.
Mann Cecily nailed it....A room full of war vet loving people being given not little, not too much but just the right amount of explicit erotic accounts to make them leave the room✌️
i've been on a sudden jag of watching SNL skits, and, sometimes.....sometimes, they stumble into an idea that could be functional in reality.
A cross between Fifty Shades and a Clancy novel would be highly marketable in the niche of low denominator adult fiction. This is the perfect "beach read" for middle aged suburbanites.
hey a literate person on the internet
Oh yeah. Best-seller for women everywhere lol. I watched this cartoon called Daria, and the main character, Daria, she wrote like some smut like this lol. It was about a female military spy fighting facism, it was also filled with romance. Interesting little side plot it was, sorta reminded of this skit.
mullet this is based on a true story:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petraeus_scandal
As if this hasn't been done a million times before already.
@@BinaryStarofShaolin and you replied to them with a nonsense sentence like that. Shame.
very well done as an intro to the show
I remember a joke that the original title was, “Just the Tip”
Someone's enjoying himself😂
This would make C-SPAN interesting
Oh Fred!,,,,, I miss you , man!!
This is really funny!
That creepy smile 🤣🤣🤣
Aidy reading the book 😂😂😂
Chillest cold open ever.
I routinely avoid the cold open because I just can't stand the screaming.
She is sooo funny. Like up there with the greats
Perfect open
Cecily and Aidy came a long way
“Would you like to be with a woman like that” did anyone notice Kate walk out after this???
C-span upping their game. I like it.
It's also a real bookstore in Washington, District of Columbia.
3:32 Kate looked straight into the camera
FUNNY AS HELL! It helps if you watch C-SPAN or BOOK TV.
That would have been me at the end just listening and when asked why I stayed just played dumb like oh she isn't talking about WAR lmfaoooo 🤣 🤣🤣 🤣🤣 🤣
Exactly like Debra Joity (Debra Broadway), aside from the military stuff. It's funny Cecily Strong looks like her kid and portrays so many characters that are exactly like her.
I walked out too
well this aged like fine wine
Need to find this audio version on Audible...
With the early and quick standing ovations, except for one..
That was great
Ady looks cute with those glasses
Classic!
😂😂😂😂😅
Fred!!!😂😂
Aw, look at mini Cecily!
Fred is brilliant
Now get up on that couch...
It’s funny cause it’s topical.
All...IN
It's called Metal Gear and it's art.
So funny. Haha
micheal bloomberg rows david petreaus boat to shore
aleluja
I think this sketch is a masterpiece of comedy.
ooh👀 Yes!
2:32 "Saul Goodman Quote"
Funny premise
C K i
For some reason, this reminds me of Gravity's Rainbow.
“A screaming comes across the sky...
And so do I.”
Fred
An exquisite depiction of the not-so-far-off-colored truth! I can imagine that Paula doesn't care what anyone thinks in her attempt to gain power, prestige and status by trying to associate, however she could, with a higher up General whom she likely dubbed "hero" and slobbered over in writing about his endless attributes that his wife didn't know about which surfaced later. The early sales of her book probably contributed to her becoming a millionaire which a U. S. service member could not have reached in the traditional military way. The BookNotes audience leaving en masse illustrates the level of disdain, and lack of respect for her. As a veteran's spouse, I have seen Army personnel on McDill AFB many times. I believe that most vets are honorable; but she, Petreaus and others cannot be regarded honorable if they put their own desires ahead of spouses and national security. Thank you for exposing the soiled covers of military life. The public response portrayed in this skit seems so viscerally real.
Good analysis, Donna, and that's why he shall forever be known as General BETRAY-us -- it would be a crime not to make it his epitaph!! Petraeus is a POS and should've been court-martialed, stripped of his rank, lost his huge pension and all benefits, and arguably sent to fucking Leavenworth to spend the remainder of his miserable days!
Librarian Cecily
Sounds like a Wattpad fanfic
who the beginning almost put me to sleep lol
Is this Cecily's debut on snl?
David Betrayus.
Cecily strong
Filthy words
That's Emmy award winning tv right there
1:39
I lost it when both Bill and Kate left lmao
I didn’t realize how long Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong have been on SNL.
Cecily is so hotttt.
Was the book actually called All In? If so, a lucky double entendre title.
I don't see what everyone is so upset about. If this was a real book I'd definitely buy a copy.
It IS a real book lol
Wow
Otherwise known as Girl You Wish You Had Met at a Reading.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
this is so juvenile but I am dying
Well, the real book WAS explicit about solicitous sexual activities so it's not like they randomly decided to be juvenile
"President Clinton gave me this cigar Paula. It's very special to me. Paula, tell me again, what's the title of your book?" 'All In' I replied. 'Would you like that Paula? Would you like me to put it... all in? "Yes General. "And can I call you Monica?"
Takes me back to the Petraeus scandals...I was just a kid back then and I still followed it.
4:00 Why did she turn the page backwards lol
What I love about this is that an affair like this escape most of the world's attention because it happened in the boring ages of U.S. politics. THe times where we trusted our politicians to do the right thing for the most part. Now under Trump, something like this would be HUGE news.
Too Much Passion When Clinton had an affair it was huge news. If Bush or Obama had had affairs while in office it would have been huge news. David Patraeus wasn't the president and isn't a politician.
CSharp he served as the director of the CIA, which I know isn’t technically a politician, but it is rooted in high level politics and comes with a high level of scrutiny. I didn’t think I needed to explain that...
😆
of all the people they could hang as famous writers, robert Burns??? seriously???
Does anyone know the names of the following actors:
The woman with blonde hair in the red dress
The man with grey hair in the grey suit and matching button-up shirt (I'll just call him Mr. Grey)
The woman with blonde curly hair in the black outfit with white underneath
The woman with brownish blonde hair in the grey sweater
All of whom left at 3:18
The man in the glasses and blue Polo Ralph Lauren sleeveless sweater over a white button-up shirt
The woman with brown curly hair in an orange blouse, a thin black coat, and pearls
The man in the purple sweater over a white button-up shirt
All of whom left at 3:30
The woman with white hair in the amber dress
The woman with short hair in the teal sweater
Both of whom left at 3:57
If anyone knows any of their names, please let me know.
Update: Just found out the name of the brownish-blonde woman in the grey sweater is Cristina Duarte. If y'all know any of the others' names, please let me know.
That was Bill Murray narrating right?
Dam
FRED!
Mr. Broadwell must've felt like shit watching this.
Oh well.
