I discovered the Dowelmax and your channel today. Thank you for the time you spent making the instructional videos. I ordered the Dowelmax through your link and hope the shekels you receive helps your channel. God bless you.
Great series of videos on this excellent tool. Absolutely love it's accuracy. Thanks for mentioning the clamp you use. I have to get one. May invest in both the 4 inch and 6 inch sets. Thanks again.
I am practicing my traditional joinery, m&t and dovetails, but they sure aren’t conviene to also working with a young family and obligations etc. I really do think the dowelmax is going to be my time-saver. Solid hidden joints without sacrificing the appearance (through-dowels and pocket hole screws just don’t look good). Someday I can get proficient with my traditional joinery when things slow down a bit. What’s your input on the cost and flexibility of the complete system and all accessories, versus something like the domino?
You could purchase the dowelmax system will all accessories and not even touch the cost of a domino machine. Traditional joinery is great and has its place...so keep up on the practicing.
@@Woodcraftedworkshop I didn’t realize the pricing was so much lower. I was adding up all of the other size dowel guide adapters, but I can always start with just the one or two sizes to start. Thanks for your input.
I have a classic dowel max. Do i need just the 45 degree piece or the entire 45 degree system which includes drilling block? I like quality of dowel max but website leaves lot to be desired in terms of info. Thanks
All you need is the miter plate. I would pick up the new adapter piece that allows for the use of the clamping part of the Dowelmax rather than using a separate clamp. I do have a video on this new piece. I personally do have multiple drilling blocks. It makes for faster change overs. It's nice but not necessary.
Good morning Brian, I love my dowelmax and this just another way to use it. Just wondering though for a small drawer like this would you typically use 3/4" material, it seems a bit clunky.
Hey Pat...I usually make my drawers from 1/2" material. Believe it or not the 3/4" draw box doesn't look bad on this project. I guess the whole piece is kind of clunky or chunky.

Thanks Dave! I know you'll love the Dowelmax. It will probably end up being your go to joinery system.

Did you put glue in the dowel holes or on the dowels?
Great series of videos, learned a lot!👍🏻
Actually glue in the hole and on the dowel. Glad the videos helped.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
That maple would look cool with through dowels made of walnut.
You're right...man I wish I had thought of it at the time. Always next time.
Thank you very much for the video! May I ask - do you use different length dowels for a miter joint than for a regular 90 degrees one?
Yes, absolutely. The length of the dowel will be determined by how thick the wood is you are using. For 3/4" i generally use a 1" dowel.
Thanks so much for the quick and detailed reply! I'm going to purchase some :)@@Woodcraftedworkshop
I dont have the jorgeson gear clamp that you like, but I do have kreg face clamps and wondering if I need to buy the clamp you like
No need to buy that clamp. The Kreg clamp will work great 👍

Question..what size dowel are you using?
1/2" each got it
Yes the dowels are 1/2" long x 3/8" in diameter
