I think something you could've mentioned is that Roblox has tried to go for a more realistic look for a really long time, even early on. Whether it be the "Roblox Figure" sketches and Fusedgirl model that Mike Rayhawk and Shedletsky created all the way back in 2006 and 2007, Robloxian 2.0 and 3.0, or Rthro, which you mentioned in the video. It seems that despite how unanimously loved the "old Roblox aesthetic" is, it was never meant to be permanent from the developer's point of view. It was always going to be a jumping off point for something more realistic and a relic of Roblox's beta phase as a physics puzzle game between 2004 and 2005. So the fact that this seemingly temporary aesthetic has stood the test of time becomes infinitely more impressive with this in mind.
fr, even if the old look was meant to be temporary it became basically iconic to roblox, if i see a blocky avatar i immediately think of roblox, if i saw an rthro avatar i wouldn't think of roblox at all. wether roblox likes it or not, the blocky aesthetic *is* what roblox is known for
Not to mention, phighting, regretavator, combat initiation, and block tales all have their own OST’s that are FIRE. (Especially phighting, having I think the most original songs and composers for one game)
I actually listen to phighting ost out of the game because how good the music is. Iron horse and title wave are prob the most peak outta the entire track for me. grain of pain is a close second to those tracks.

Want to know what else? R6 animation tends to look better than R15 animation because with less bones and joints, animators are forced to put more emphasis and character into actions. Which they should be doing anyway, but R15 makes them get lazy since they're using IK for the most part, and since it's "more realistic" it's better, right?
i think they're should be a R10 of sorts, where instead of having hands and feet (which look horrible on the blocky characters) its just elbow joins and knees (but still keeping R15 for, whatever roblox is doing with it)
R15 is pretty useful imo for many games however it can look cluttered sometimes with the Roblox avatar. The R6 models looks much cleaner and more expressive though.

No offense, but for a video called "The Evolution of Roblox's Art Style" you only took a look at, like, two artstyles before you started talking about modern Roblox games you liked, lol. But to be honest, Roblox's Art Style is something I've never really thought about. I think I just always looked at it as the games having different art styles instead of the platform they're on. I mean, you could say that every game from the early days looked more or less the same, but nowadays it's pretty much the developer's decision on what their Roblox game looks like. Some games will have an art style reminiscent of the classic era (probably because it's easier to do although it did start feeling pretty repetitive with how many games used it IMO,) but some will take a step further and use their own unique art style, standing out from the crowd in the process. I always liked Roblox games that looked or played unlike most other games on the platform, stuff like Blamo comes to mind.. and all other Bribbleco games, really. Though it is interesting how Roblox wanted to make itself look more realistic, even as far back as the Robloxian 2.0 or even 3.0.

There's a ton of hidden gems on Roblox that sadly a lot of people will never play. By the time they become old enough to appreciate these unique games they think that they've become "too old" to play Roblox. Im super happy that there has been a sudden surge in high quality games! I love horror, so playing Doors and then being exposed subsequently to other games like Pressure or Scary Sushi has been such a treat! And I love ultrakill, so ultrakill inspired games like combat initiation were super cool to see too! Honestly, there's just been a massive influx in the kind of unique fun games on the platform, and I hope we get more of these! even games that I didnt think would be all that good like Color or Die are surprisingly fun to play every once and a while

I do like how popular R6 still is. It seems these days the only people using rthro are people will troll avatars, ridiculous proportions or... furries. Unfortunately it seems like roblox still doesn't like the classic stuff though. They're not actively suppressing it anymore but they could do more to make it fit better. Like adding R6 support to new packages (heck you can already squish avatars into R6 proportions so it can't be that hard) or allowing you to set fallbacks so you don't end up with a hideous avatar if you're forced into a certain body type

Roblox was my childhood and still is to this day. I don’t care how much “professionals” dunk on it. You aren’t professional if you can’t see what’s there. a cool detail in phighting: slingshot (based off of the slingshot weapon in classic brickbattle games) can double jump, as well as walk in midair similar to how you can with a bug with the actual slingshot gear, except this is nerfed in phighting for obvious reasons

Where do you live? 50% of UA-cam content on Roblox is Phighting and Regretavator. "The should've been in a bunch of events", yes, they didn't participate in the events, but if you haven't noticed, Regretavator is trying to make a collaboration with almost everything that exists (Pressure, SharkCO, SharkCO (again) and other things that I might have missed). Isn't it enough for you that every Robloxian knows about these games?

Unfortunately it seems like roblox still doesn't like the classic stuff though. They're not actively suppressing it anymore but they could do more to make it fit better. Like adding R6 support to new packages (heck you can already squish avatars into R6 proportions so it can't be that hard) or allowing you to set fallbacks so you don't end up with a hideous avatar if you're forced into a certain body type

@@bleba7738the funny thing about this is most people I run into don't have this issue with Folly, just Gnarpy. then again, ig it's because Gnarpy was redesigned from an R6 model (for very understandable reasons) whereas Folly was introduced as a non R6 model.
they had to remodel it because of issues involving its original creator

Roblox was my childhood and still is to this day. I don’t care how much “professionals” dunk on it. You aren’t professional if you can’t see what’s there. Roblox has made bad decisions but it still lives up to its goal of powering imagination. Even though there are hateful people on the platform, it still feels like a safe space. Roblox has so much of everything that it’s good for everybody , and that’s what I love about it.

i’d like to mention guts and blackpowder, my favourite roblox game at the moment. its graphics and animation is great, and even with the dark atmosphere it still feels like roblox. yet the roblox art style doesn’t take away from the experience !

you do realise pressure is just a reskin of doors with voice acting. thats it. a reskin. and anyone who says "well its got lore and shit" who cares about the lore if the gameplay is just the same as another game. and if the gameplay is the same you already know what to do, go through doors, reach last door, do final boss thing and leave. there is nothing else to pressure and i feel like the community is getting dumber and dumber everyday

a cool detail in phighting: slingshot (based off of the slingshot weapon in classic brickbattle games) can double jump, as well as walk in midair similar to how you can with a bug with the actual slingshot gear, except this is nerfed in phighting for obvious reasons
