Love from Pakistan ❤
I like how you are discussing and discovering different aspects of the Pakistani culture, you're absolutely on the right path .. and a lot of your intuitions about the culture are fairly close to reality ... appreciate all your videos!
Hey guys, so the question asked about the headwear is usually down to regional and local interpretations of styles. In Islam, for women (beyond the milestone of puberty), there is a religious requirement to dress modestly in public or in front of people that are not from her immediate family and who she can _technically_ get married to**, or are strangers to her.
**
Please note: Muslims refer to 'potential relationship' by the end result of a union, as there is no recognition of holding any intimate relationships (viably) outside of it)
Also: this headwear is in the public sphere, and during religious prayers. It is not expected anywhere where she has the privacy to live without being gazed on by an outsider to her household.
At home, if she so chooses, she can wear sheer veils on her head (as the female protagonist of the TV series is wearing), but usually there is no reason to cover the head at home. Unfortunately, unfamiliarity with religious rules means that quite often Muslims are more _culturally_ Muslim in their dress sense than 'religiously' so. Meaning that people in Muslim countries might be generally aware of the 'concept of head covering', but may not understand exactly what it requires technically. So, in this sense, the protagonist is usually wearing a cultural head covering, not a religious one for most of the show.
Men and women *both have a set of rules to abide by in public or in the company of others* in behaviours and dress.
Men are generally recommended to wear caps (not too dissimilar to the concept of skullcap that the Jews adhere to), to cover certain body parts at all times, avoid certain clothing items, avoid certain excess in clothing and accessories, and lower their gaze when in the presence of women (out of respect for the women, their right to privacy and ultimately humility and God-consciousness). As for women, they must wear opaque clothing when travelling out in public, that is long-sleeved, not too flashy, and that does not draw attention to a woman's curvature (which is a significant part of both the feminine form and body allure). [They are also required to avoid wearing any perfume or makeup in public.]
Coming back to your question about why there is a variation in the style and choice of head-coverings: this is due to local influences, fashion, evolution of style, and local sentiments. It is not due to religious reasons. Just how people take influence from their surroundings, clothing and headwear also take-in influences that may or may not set in with the definition of religion. Think of how nuns used to dress and how their habits evolved, or the dress of Christian, Jewish or Hindu women evolved over the years. The head coverings have all but disappeared, the dressing rules have been changed by secularizing and globalizing of communities across the world.
The Muslim hijab however is not subject to 'times'. Muslim women continue to honour the faith tradition and dress like the Blessed Virgin Mary (peace be upon her) in Islam.
I hope that answers your question,
-A
Amazing comment and you've worded it absolutely beautifully and truly ❤

True
There are soo many OSTs in Pakistani dramas which are absolute gems!! ❤️❤️
React to “Sange mah” ost. It is sung by Atif Aslam and he is the male lead in the drama .It’s his drama debut and he is killing it. Btw this is coming from an Indian!
I too love this song it's like singing to soul.
I have seen this drama and it's phenomenal. Great dramas from Pakistan.
Though I am from India🇮🇳 I love Pakistani dramas far more than Indian ones❤️
About the head cover thing. It is recommended in Islam and since most people living in Pakisan are Muslims so you will usually see women with a head scarf or cover but the different degrees of cover are most likely due to a person's personal choice or preference. We do tend to be more careful in mosques with our attire.
What's different is that we're mostly consistent with our choice of coverage like I wear dupatta (kind of a head scarf) and I wear it everywhere I go outside unless I am feeling very experimental or whatever but dramas aren't consistent with that so they confuse me often too.
Its neither age or occasion or anything, it's very complex cultural settings! It is a region where u find descendants of Greeks, Aryans, Afghans, Arabs, Turks, Persians, Mongols, Huns, Europeans, which has evolved over a period of thousands of years
U have to understand history of Pakistan, n study a lot!
It's a country consisting various ethnic groups, 22 languages are spoken here
Religion is important aspect of our lives, however, it's not imposed as it is shown in western media.
Except for rural regions where you may find strict practitioners of religion but again its there choice
Yes, there are regions where women are completely covered and in some cases their heads are covered and faces aren't (like the way Mary is depicted in Catholic Church or like a nun) but its not like a very clear demarcation of here women are like this and there like that! It's mostly choice.
Then u have the regional traditional mixing with the western, that u can see in the videos as well,so u see these contrasts
Ur ancestors were Hindus...watching ertugul ghazi has completely made u people forget Indus valley civilization and mohenjodaro... Punjabi and sindhi speaking Pakistanis with surnames like cheema, sethi, bajwa, chaudhry, rathore, Chauhan, gujjar consider themselves turks and Arabs.
@@radhika7387 seen no one who has Indian ancestry say they don't. We do have some Arab blood (Pathan population etc). So please don't bring your own ideas of what we think and don't think here. We simply say as we are
@@user-oq3bf3kf6f
please stay in denial forever... I didn't knew that Chauhan, bajwa, sethi are Arabic surnames.... mohenjodaro is arabic ?? Sindhi and Punjabi are spoken by Arabs ?? Learn something from the Iranians who are proud of their Zoroastrian heritage.
@@radhika7387 The hell is wrong with you ????
@@anayakhan2208 what is ur problem ??
Ahhh I love the podcast where you guys react to that song..... You should do more Pakistani drama ost please Like

The Pakistani drama industry is very big and popular. Some osts I’d recommend to react on are parizaad, khaani, sinfe ahan, razeulfat, meray pas tum ho, bol kaffara, alif. There’s just so many good ones
Sinf e Ahan by Asim azhar
Do bol too
Are you sure....cause i didn't even know it existed till today
@@ANOMEMEOUS where are you from lol? By popular i meant in South Asia (India:Bangladesh etc) and some Arab countries
@@Waleed.869 I'm from India and I've never heard of it
Looking forward to more reactions to OSTs from Pakistan 🇵🇰💜
this drama tells the story of ascending from worldly love to godly love...in spiritualism islam's basic concept is "oneness" when you believe in oneness that's when you reach the point where allah intended the human to be...so in many love stories written by sufi saints they discuss the concept of how purest love for a human being can take you to a point where your whole world and all the thoughts and your everything becomes centered in that one person(its something much larger then physical attraction) to the point where common logic of even hate, love, greed, etc doesn't remain relevant...your materialistic thoughts are dissolved and there is just that single person left in you,as waris shah wrote"i was calling ranjha(the lover) and then i became ranjha"...that's the point where even the "object of your love becomes secondary" and only purity remains...that's when even when mansur allhaj said"i am truth",it wasn't polytheism but just love for god...or as bulleh shah said"if i look for you inside then who is outside?if i look for you outside then whose colours are these inside me?"....it's the concept as rumi discusses"you dont have to try to love, you just have to remove all those hurdles that are stopping you from loving"....so no matter what type of love it is,if it is pure then it will definitely take you to the truth of this universe...that's what basically is discussed in this drama...
I loved khuda arur mohabbat. I used to watch indian drama but switched to pakistani drama as they are soo good
Finally guys finally 🤩... thank you so much for reacting ❤️
Finally😍😍😍 this is my favorite song, thank u.. guys😉
Those her real eyes .. she's unique my favorite iqra aziz
The attire of the main character is kind of a cultural monk attire. The region where this series takes place is east central Pakistan, which is semi conservative and deeply traditional. If you watch this season it starts in metropolitan city and moves to semi urban city, and the attire of female characters changes accordingly from no head covering, and mix public gathering to head covers and gender segregated gatherings.
Chal mera putt is an amazing film about pakistanis and indian sikhs. Punjabis even, it tells you about immigration to the uk and how It is for people when they come here and to get visas etc and the singer amrinder gill is in it and he sings too! Also pakistanis watch drama on ARY digital, Geo, Hum tv these are some channels you can watch them on. They repeat constantly. This one was a Geo drama you watched.
I love this it's in my playlist love from India 💜💜💜💜💜💜

Coke studio Go by Atif Aslam and Abdullah sidiqque
Zainab Abid I can’t get over it from GO before this song Pasoori was my on top of the list but GO has blew my mind Love Abdullah Siddique❤️
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is master singer
you should react to the OST of 'Khaani', 'Sinf e Ahan' and 'Parizaad'.
🎈peechay hutt ❣️song coke studio session 14 reaction
The attire can differ from region to region but mostly it's just personal preference of the person that wear's it.
U guys really surprise us everyday .. the range of reaction videos is awesome .. 👌 👏
1. I love how y'all coordinate the colors of the country in your outfits, looks and environment.
2. I love when Efra vibes with instruments and makes the sounds.
3. Waleska is always somehow hitting right with her assumptions on the movies 😂
4. Your questions about Islam and headscarf are welcomed. I won't speak on this cause I'm kind of confused too but it is just a normal thing for me as a Muslim to see women wear different kinds of headscarf or clothing.
- Tbh, the ending of this serial was a disappointment. I watched it mainly because of Iqra Aziz, whom I've been a fan of ever since I saw Suno Chanda (1-2), and because of the OST. I haven't seen many Pakistani movies but I can recommend "Bol". It's from 2011 and stars one of my favorite Pakistani actresses, Mahira Khan, and one of my favorite artists, Atif Aslam. Atif is also singing in it.
- I recommend Humsafar (serial) from 2011. Again it stars one of my favorite actors/actresses, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan. I fell in love with both of them through this serial. I've watched it like 6-7 times. The OST is a banger!
- Suno Chanda (serial with two seasons) is my comfort drama and a favorite too, starring Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz as the main leads. I fell in love with them through that serial. Again, the OST is a banger. Farhan sings them himself, from both seasons.
- But it's hard to find english subtitles for the Pakistani serials. I know some do have, like Khuda aur Mohabbat 3. Maybe you guys could make a video reacting to Pakistani OST's? That would be cool cause there are so many good ones and the music video's to them are just as cool.
P.S. Yes, that is Iqra's real eyes. She's just a beauty, Masha Allah and her acting is no joke.
Please react to "DO BOL" OST by nabeel shaukat and aima baig
And yes Iqra Aziz (actress) is gorgeous. And you are spot on with character recognition, she is upper class fuedal royalty, and he is lower working class who works for her family.
When she gets married, he moves to a saints mouseleum, and becomes a Monk.
Lots Of love from Pakistan 🇵🇰♥️🙌
Watch " is pyaar ke sadqay " i am an Indian but i live that drama...
Wearing full cover clothes is mostly a cultural and religious thing. Although modern clothing are also being worn.
The place you are saying as temple is called 'Shrine' in Pakistan. These are the resting place of highly religious people, who lived couple of hundred years ago.
When a person Leaves world's glamorous life and wants to spend his remaining life, in the teaching of God. They heads towards these shrines.
When hero is Laying in shrine, the background is not Party. They are same kind of persons, singing poems in the name of God.
And when a person could not marry the love of their life, there is nothing in the world for them, so they heads to these shrines and pray to God for rest of their lives.
This change in Life style due to heartbreak have deep roots in Urdu literature. We have single words: "Majnoo", "Aashiq", "Malang" depicting this whole paragraph.
Its just in theory now, only homeless people are spending their lives in shrines now a days.
I really hope u do coke studio 14 marathon and review it. This season coke studio was completely different and unique
Also please react to the ost of "khaani" it was one of Pakistans top dramas, a very good storyline and ost. Rahat also sang that one
Khuda kay liye is one of my personal favorites, which also addresses multiple religious controversies and presents views of a progressive approach to Islam, it is more about Music. The director has made three movies addressing major issues which are considered religious or cultural taboos. Bol, the second has music from Atif Aslam.
Very detailed reaction.i am impressed 👌
One of my favorite Pakistani movie is Laal kabootar but it’s a crime drama so may not be your cup of tea.. the soundtrack in that movie is amazing though. One really good drama that came out recently was Mushk. But Pakistani drama serials and famous throughout south Asia
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a living legend and mostly he's best is presenting cultural songs he jas solod background 🖤

react to "mehbooba" nescafe there is 12 year ol drummer that time when the song was released .. and also react to "aadaat" instrumental/bhanwary from nescafe basement .. sure you guys will love these ones .
After a girl's puberty, it is an Islamic requirement to wear headscarf or to cover themselves in public or from those who aren't from her immediate family. Unfortunately many girls don't follow it and continue their western or eastern dressing and some of them them follow it according to their comfort zone like someone cover entire body except eyes, some just wear headscarf or some don't do it at all.
Pakistani women wore sarees in the past... Is it vulgar according to Islamic standards since only girls are judged on the basis of their clothes in Pakistan ??

In pakistan, it isnt legally binding to practise hijab but due to culture and religion almost 90 percent of the women do. In showbiz like everyother country is a liberal secular world.
Age matters, children arent bound to wear hijab ,sometimes young girls do copy their moms or sisters.
Leaf thing is a pre wedding custom to cover the hands of the bride with henna

Guys u should reaction on Pakistani darma ost songs meray pass tum
It’s all preference some women cover because they would like to others don’t because they don’t like to, however in most cases this doesn’t mean they are not practising or religious but just do not like to cover, all comes down to personal preference really. I will say it takes a certain type of courage and spirituality to be fully covered
Its not temple. In the olden times, people will visit the graves of saintly person who themselves sacrificed everything for love of God. So people take solace in others persons love for the one who ultimately grants the notion of love. This is a play from a classical true story of Majnun Layla at the time of Harun Al Rashid. As for attaire, the notion of hijab varies from region to region but the concept of hidden or protected stays constant.
It's an age thing only in muslims that after you reach your adolescence specially for girls you have to wear a whole covered thing called burqa only when you go outside

The Quran calls for both men and women to 'cover and be modest'. Some scholars argue that it is a religious obligation, particularly the more conservative factions within the Muslim world. There are many variations and interpretations.
The burka covers the entire body including the whole face, with a mesh window for the woman to see out of.
The niqab covers the whole body including the face with the exception of the woman's eyes.
The hijab covers the hair and chest and is common among Muslim women in South East Asia.
The chador is a full-length cloak worn by many Iranian women, typically held closed at the front by the wearer's hands or under their arms.
The dupatta is a long scarf draped across the head and shoulders, and is often accompanied by matching garments. It is common in South Asia.
Hope this clarifies to some extent.

We have lots of parties and get togethers and gatherings usually so that’s where we have fun. Our culture revolves around getting together with family and friends quite often, eating, dancing etc. and very community orientated. Same with weddings, they’re our parties. We have weeks of celebration and invite everyone we know which can sometimes be 1000 plus people.
And in regards to head covering. It’s quite cultural, it depends on your family or individual choice. For example, I live in England and I personally don’t wear a headscarf. Neither do my sisters. Some cousins choose to wear a hijab for religious reasons. They’re more religious. And some wear it loosely over their head which is cultural more than religious, so a bit of their hair may be showing. If there’s a funeral or some religious event I will also cover my head. Otherwise with cultural clothes I will wear it around my neck. It’s very personal and cultural
Pakistani music is beautiful their dramas are mind blowing especially khuda aur mohabbat and suno chanda
Actually I started watching Pakistani drama cuz of Iqra Aziz
This woman is gorg as heaven
But I want to also tell u guys
Pakistan is soon gonna collapse cuz of the extremism and from England it seems beautiful but in reality it is hard for girls who live there
They are forced to wear burkha and hijab
Only few women can wear shorts or whatever they want, that too in urban areas like Islamabad
Even in Lahore u can wear shorts
People will criticise u
I’m from India
I love Sufism
And the situation is similar in rural Rajasthan
Ghungat tradition is still going on
We should stop such traditions
😂 koi force nai krta women r more religious then men and hijab is God order not order of pakistani men

Please do your next podcast on Indian Classical music!
Some things to check out -
Zakir Hussain - Horse running on tabla (a must watch for Efra!)
Mahesh Kale - Lagi Kalejwa Katar live (he explains it at the start in English for the benefit of the audience)
Rahul Deshpande - Surat Piya Ki live (a phenomenal modern bass/baritone Indian classical singer)
Kuldeep Pai - Kalinga Narthana Thillana
Pt. Bhimsen Joshi - literally any concert or recording of his. THE virtuoso Indian classical singer, he was awarded the highest civilian honour of India. He was able to do unimaginable things with his voice, a lot of stuff for Waleska to dig into
I forgot to add that Kalinga Narthana Thillana is an ancient composition in the Carnatic style of Indian classical music, a *thillana* generally accompanying classical Bharatnatyam dance. This particular rendition by Kuldeep Pai and two child prodigies is very enjoyable
This is a drama and it broke record!!! You need to watch it 😍😍😍

Covering rhe head is religious but the “attire” varies because of culture .
Pakistan have different ideologies, some of them are liberals and others are conservative or religious. The reason for wearing Hijab (Covering) when visiting Saint graves is considered respectful to dead, and It's ethical gesture. In this video, she is visiting the Saint Tomb, that's why she wears duppata or hijab.
best dramas with best music in Pakistan are, maybe
