I get that this was meant as a joke but just because he did the sins that he did doesn't make it right for Akechi to kill him off. He was just as human as me and you. That doesn't make it right. I didn’t have a problem with this palace in the first game. In royal it took 3 tries and that was after *almost* getting it in the 2nd run. I raged so hard but the satisfaction of watching pancakes shot the bastard was worth it

This fight was literally the only part of this game I don't like, it pissed me off so much when I first played it, because, not only did I lose numerous times, but, I got so pissed off trying to prepare and adjust the settings, that I accidentally got myself stuck on "SAFE" mode (which I didn't think you could switch to mid-game) and had play on that for the rest of the game.
Now I'm on NG+ and I got to do this fight on "NORMAL" mode with my ridiculously high-powered Personas.
Honestly I don't care to actually try to fight this boss fairly it's so poorly thought out that when I get to it I just want to nuke the bastard so I can get on to more fun stuff. And I actually enjoyed his palace too as well as the story surrounding it, but this boss fight is easily in my top ten of the most cheapest boss fights I've ever played.

@@KeeperOfUntoldDreams I have but it's always the vauge "oh but it's a good challenge" bullcrap. There's a difference between a fair challenging boss and a cheap one. A fair boss that's super tough requires you to use every aspect of the gameplay in order to win showing how well you understand it. A cheap boss creates fake difficulty somehow either by taking away your opitions or by having gimmicky mechanics to them. This one does both in the worst possible way, between the timer, the enemies being resistant to everything but one thing, the fact you can't all out attack even though your fighting normal enemies. The enemies reseting if you don't kill them in two turns and Okumura buffing their defense just to make that narrow window even smaller it all adds up to cracking my top ten like I said. It's not the absolute worst one I can think of a few more that bug me more but oh man is it up up there.

Ok so I know you're making a joke, but this misconception really irks me so I'm leaving this comment because even if not for you, someone else might need to understand this:
A shadow's outrageousness is directly proportional to how much the other person denies it. We see that with Mitsuo. And even then, the shadow is liable to wilfully misrepresent things only to rub it in (Rise is concerned about looking like she's just her body, but she loves attention, yet her shadow gleefully acts like a stripper). To pick an ambiguously enough one where it fits either interpretation: kanji. If he's gay, he sure as hell isn't as much of a horny slut as his shadow presents him to be. He may wanna take a serving of beefcake, but he sure as hell isn't the kinda guy to shamelessly, debasedly and in front of his own friends get into a beef sandwich. Yet, y'know. Alternatively, even if he is a straight dude who likes cute shit he knows society thinks is girly and unbecoming of a man, he wouldn't go as far as to act like a-and pardon my language here-complete and utter pansy. If you embrace them, then they're pretty similar to your real self (think madarame, whose shadow is really only shit he thinks but knows better than to say), but if you deny them, they just grow and twist until it's hard to even know where they come from (think kanji, whom any way you interpret him, his shadow is a complete mockery of the way he views himself).

Damn! Okumura's insults REALLY SUCK! Like aside from Ann's the rest are...painfully weak. Morgana says worse stuff to Ryuji not to mention he doesn't call Morgana a cat. Saying stuff like oddball and phony? REALLY?!!! The only thing these insults succeed at IS LITERALLY WASTING TIME SINCE THE TIMER STILL TICKS DOWN DURING CUTSCENES!!!

Looking over at robo-haru and having a full on discussion with her about Morgana as the timer ticks down and when there's not much time left he actually asks the other thieves what Morganas supposed to be. The cutscene lasting until there's only like nine or ten minutes left.

Yeah and I actually enjoy the rest of the palace as well as the story for this part, but good god the developers did not think this boss fight through. Even with the DLC Persona’s you can’t just nuke those stupid green robots without first using baton pass.

You make it sound baton pass is a solution, when in fact it is step 4 of a 5 step process. The first 3 having to be done before the fight even starts. Perhaps next time it will be easier but but a few green robots shouldn't be as frustrating as an optional super boss.
@@TheBasedTyrant I think you're exaggerating. Yes, the fight sucks because you may well straight not have what you need to beat him (I actually had to restart and restock), but after that, in two 4-man baton passes done adequately, you can nuke everything on the field. Just keep your second-to-last baton pass for the rakukaja'd one, then use the last baton pass (ideally on joker with a magic persona or mona/panther) to hit twice with AOEs. That pretty much cleans house.
That being said, while I get the design (Okumura WOULD just exploit shit much as he can to make you ragequit) concept, the way it works just doesn't jive with any blind first playthrough. I empathize with your frustration, I just feel like you might be exaggerating the numerical challenge a bit.

What if you hacked to have Akechi (Prince/Dark), Kasumi/Sumire, and Futaba in this fight? Would Okumura have a unique line for targetting them? Maruki has a unique line of dialogue for targetting Futaba, for some reasons, so maybe Okumura would have one for her and the others?
Futaba... probably, if it's seems she could be functioning party member. But no chance in hell he has lines for characters we will get LATER than his boss fight.

@@haruokumura2977 Maybe there's unused voices in the data I guess? I just found it weird that Maruki has targetting dialogue for Futaba, who cannot be targetted, so I was thinking that since Okumura also targets your teammates he might have unused targetting dialogues for Futaba, Akechi and Sumire.
@@metalex64 I have read a while back that Futaba does have a battle model, but a no animations apart from an idle one, so I would think she would have some quotes added in as a failsafe.
