Of course Mary has be told it's not her fault for all the things she did as Not Poison Ivy. Otherwise she'd have to take personal responsibility for her actions and that makes the writers very uncomfortable.
I suspect Mary going to the man's wake will be the beginning and the end of her "taking responsibility" for killing him. If they do anything else with that, I'll be very surprised.

Firstly: Alice: need the joy buzzer to bring back my empathy. Anyone with a brain: didn’t you get zapped in arkham in season one and ended up wanting to KILL YOUR SISTER ONLY TO KILL YOUR “BROTHER”, MOUSE. Also didn’t enigma reverse your memory loss of ocean which supposed to bring back your empathy? Secondly: remember the last episode of season 2 when Ryan said I can’t win without the suit? Let’s look at the scoreboard, shall we? Batsuit Ryan: barely beaten Victor Zsaz. Got recked by Circe Kate even with Alice helping Ryan. And got put in a freezer only for Luke to save her. Zero suit Ryan: fought Circe Kate to a draw 1v1, defeated half of the GCPD on her own, and Brock Lesnared Victor Zsaz. Again, POWER LEVELS!!! What's that anymore.
It's gonna turn out that the joybuzzer really doesn't affect sanity- the doctors just made it up as an unfulfillable cure so they can keep getting paid to treat Marquis.
Ah, empathy. Just a switch in your head and you can flick it on and off. Not a choice for Alice, she didn't CHOOSE to do bad things. She was FORCED to do it by ... [Fill In The Blank]
Okay Marquis could at least pretend to be sane when he's in public, that's what he was doing before his black joker "Reveal". But the writers are afraid if he's not acting like the joker we'll forget he is the joker

I'm heartfully sorry for your sufferings Thorias! I don't watch Batwoman or anything on the CW. Your commitment to analyzing the droppings from this series. You are a courageous man, sir. Props to you! P.S. Sounds like you may have been screaming your head off. Please take care of yourself.
I watch practically all Batwoman reviewers, you, Babyface, JLongbone etc. Because of that a lot of previous and scenes from the show pop up. Out of the morbid curiosity I decided to check how it really feels to watch it. It was so cringe and awkward, those people try to be badass and cool while doing and saying the stupidest things. From today's episode was ''Team Bat vs whatever Black Joker and his gang is named''. And the comments, ''team batwoman are so badass together'' or ''Ryan and Sofie love each other so much''. Did we watch the same thing ?
Team Batwoman.... Lead by Ryan WIlder: the woman who helped keep her drug dealing girlfriend on the streets. Who also decided to let "Kate" kill Alice after Alice had save her life. Luke: the sidekick.... the guy who screwed up being able to use a second rate iron man suit. Who decided he would rather die then live in a world where people hate him because he's black! I kid you not that happened last season!!! Sophie: the side piece! Marquis called that one. Sophie who was so stupid that she couldn't tell that the first Batwoman who she was sleeping with was really her long time love Kate Kane. That's season one. She has gotten no smarter since then. She has very little redeeming value other then in bed. I no longer count Mary on team Batwoman. To me she feels more like Team Alice now. Sophie and Ryan love each other so much!?!? Wow..... I must have imagined Sophie screwing every lesbian who showed up around her then. Because she just loved Ryan that much.

I'm surprised you didn't point out how stupid the water awakening Markus was. They apparently treat Markus like a plant. He got hit with the desiccating stuff, but apparently a little water dripping on his skin is enough to revive him for some reason, as if he can just absorb the moisture through his skin and recover like he's fine. And this is just a regular person, not someone with supernatural healing powers or anything. So why anyone would imagine water on his skin would miraculously cure his dehydration is beyond me. Apparently the writers don't even know that human beings have to drink water to rehydrate them, simply taking a shower is not enough. This is an all-time low in science and biology for them. This is even more stupid because if you were trying to keep someone alive that's been dehydrated like that (and they were because they wanted to fix him for Jada), any medical professional would already put them on a saline drip already. So Markus would have already been being injected with water.
Here's another question? When did they remove the serum from Marquis to begin with? I don't think they actually did. So how did he actually wake up even with the water!?
It seems one drop of water is enough to completely counteract the desiccation serum, which doesn't even begin to make sense, but what else do you expect on this show?
@@thoriasunlimited4053 I get that logic and reason are things that have to be left at the door when watching this... show. But it makes me nuts!!!!! If he had the serum in him, (which shouldn't be viable after a decade) then why wouldn't it dry up any water that makes contact with the person!?
@@thoriasunlimited4053 When Merry was Not Poison Ivy she gave him a flower ''for later''. I thought that the flower somehow connected with him and if a drop of water or saliva is enough to wake up Poison Ivy, which is still stupid, why not him. I have to ask Marcus what's to stop any of these serial killers he released from Arkham for killing him and going on a brutal rampage through Gotham city if I was the real Joker then they would fear him but Marcus is nothing like that.
Caroline Dries and company are so desperate to score that fourth season renewal, they went to the "Will they/won't they" well with Ryan and Sophie, making it a glorified soap opera. Not surprisingly, it scored them the best ratings the series has had in two years. I guess the promise of "DTS" got the fan boys and fan girls to tune in.
I feel for poor Thorius, I really do. But his suffering is our entertainment, so.... Maybe the CW getting bought will be the death knell for this show.
I’m watching this along with you. The episodes usually seem long since I have to keep pausing to process what the fudge I just watched. I don’t know how Marquis had the legal right to let out insane criminals. I mean law enforcement is incompetent in Gotham so I’m not surprised. How did Marquis let these criminals walk inside Wayne’s Enterprise without anyone notifying the authorities? I guess no one works there and the company doesn’t have security. How the fudge did Victor get to the Batman signal without getting arrested? Why would he ever be on work release? I had to skip the last scene because I honestly do not care. I can say that Ryan is a better character than Kate though.
Your reviews, Thorias, have been a revelation to this feminist I'll tell ya. First, I never realized that those depictions of women in film from the times of silent movies and the Gish sisters and Mary Pickford until modern movies weren't really heroic images at all. They don't count because they are the result of a blindness wrought by patriarchy. Actually, real women heroes are no heroes at all until they become rude, crass, entitled, selfish, insensitive arrogant, preening men. Second, how in the world could I "relate" to characters on screen who don't look exactly like me, even if they are brave, self-sacrificing, skilled, intelligent, clever and moral paragons. No, I reject patriarchy's chains that have induced me to believe that classic heroes have something to say about today's female heroes. Now I realize that sexism has sinisterly prodded me into thinking real heroes believe in personal responsibility, duty, moral integrity and earning victories. How could I have fallen for such a meretricious ideology? Finally, I understand now that the tropes of good (heroic) storytelling are relics of an evil age dominated by men. Building character so I empathize in some way, substantive development of a recognizable and honorable soul, a story arc that makes sense and is consistent with the rules of a particular world-building construct, showing and not telling, you know the usual sordid stuff, that's just so much detritus alien to female heroes. If the new female-centered stories insult me, disrespect women's inherent strengths, reject all moral duty and aspiration, I need to accept it. Apparently, it's good for me, although these new women heroes I don't recognize in me at all.
@@HyperMoeMan Hell, I'll go further: I'd rather rewatch Batman and Robin than watch Batwoman. Batman and Robin is a very bad movie yes but at least it's a fun kind of bad (in my opinion anyway). Batwoman isn't even a fun kind of bad. It's the infuriating kind of bad
To be fair, I'd skip the lesbian stuff, anyway, IF I actually besmirched any of my devices, by playing a second, of this show. If "girl on girl" is a selling point, they haven't sold me on it. Even if I was into that, the characters are so unlikeable, and frustrating in their refusal to learn, grow, get killed off, or anything remotely interesting, and the continued, outright insult to the legacy of my favorite superhero, that I couldn't be bothered to be invested. They are playing a game, now. We all know this should've been cancelled, before it even aired one episode. They are outright defying any common sense. When's the Season 4 announcement?
They went straight (pun unintended) to soap opera style writing to try and get that 4th season. I do find it interesting in the CW's announcement for the Fall 2022 season, Pilots and other series were announced to get another season, but Batwoman wasn't on that list.
@@Nabinut I'll be shocked if they don't do another season. Maybe they were counting on Naomi to be the next symbol, for them, but that show is awful, too. I hate to wish for anyone to lose their jobs, but if ever there was a candidate, a proper setting, for mass firings, it should start with the show runner, executive producer, the writers, and just keep working down, until you get to craft services, maybe, and just fire them all. And not because of any bias, but the demonstrable fact that they are simply not good at their jobs.

Don't think I'm the only one noticing a trend with writers having a character as the villain: pointing out rational points of criticism and framing it as an evil act. As if shedding a light of how stupid their stories are is something a bad guy would do and not something someone with common sense would do.
If they even bother redeeming her. Remember the teenage terrorist who almost made an entire train full of people into paste then was hacking people's information. She just got off without even community service, her parents accepting her, and a girl friend.
I know this show likes to retcon things to hell and back but this, "Ryan accomplished so much from nothing" is flat nauseating. She literally didn't even know she was the acting CEO until Luke filled her in on it! Everything she has she got from Kate. Including Sophie! This narrative the show is pushing is so out of any context of reality that it's like the writers simply forgot what is going on in the show!!!
Honestly, keeping track of the show's continuity is a pointless endeavor since it's literally getting retconned every week. True, Ryan did nothing to earn the CEO job and just had it dropped in her lap, but that doesn't fit the narrative in this episode, so now the story is something different.
I just like listening to your Batwoman reviews because it breaks down just how RIDICULOUSLY STUPID the writers are. It also helped me pass the day at work. But i do feel bad that you need to suffer for an hour every week to deliver this content. Commenting to fight the algorithm and to let Thorias know he's appreciated.
Each great Batwoman eviscerator brings something different to the table. HeelvsBabyface brings the rage and righteous fury, JLongbone brings the funny snark, and Thorias brings the more analytical commentary that points out how brainless and illogical the show is.
Second this one! And...good lord. I missed watching in this past week or so, given I'm recovering from Covid and all-don't think my body could take it right now. But...good lord. Maybe it was a bullet dodged.
I personally don't find the idea of a superhero team struggling to juggle the responsibility of fighting crime and leading a normal life a bad thing. Sadly, it seems Caroline Dries seems more interested in exploring the latter than the former. And it can't be a coincidence that the first episode where Luke proves to be competent happens to be the one that his actor had a hand in being involved in behind the scenes.
I watch too. It was long due to the constant pausing the show and staring at the wall from disbelief about Sophie's insufferable whining about Ryan's interest in her. She couldn't concentrate for a few seconds on her assignment.
If Kiki is the one that made the joy buzzer and she can fix it, how is there only one buzz left? Can’t she just make another one? As far as I could tell, there isn’t no magic macguffin to it. Go to a parts store and make another one. I was thinking before this episode that I should take a shot every time relationship talk was mentioned but I’m so glad I didn’t because I didn’t want to die from alcohol poisoning.
@@tonycleek4981 I would've written it so Marquis looks at the joybuzzer, thinks about how it's supposed to help restore his empathy... and casually drops it on the ground so he can crush it and laugh evilly- embracing who he is. The team is distraught, asking where they're gonna get another one that can shock him without killing him... and then Luke raises a disturbing possibility. The buzzer may have been the Joker's, but it was taken before his disappearance, and there's evidence that he used a spare before his death. So how do they get the spare? Find the Joker's burial site and take it.
@@CrisisComics Your suggestion would be more interesting than what we got. Based on what this season theme has been in my opinion is mental health. The Joker made Marcus who he is. So the show wants to show that everything Marcus has done was no fault of his own just like Poison Ivy and Mary. That is why they are trying to let Alice off the hook for season 1 murders. As long as there is someone to blame for your problems, then you aren’t at fault which contradicts what Batman was all about. Bruce had tragedy and he wanted to protect everyone by stopping bad things from happening to others. I can almost put down money that Marcus will get cured and won’t face any punishment. He will just give Wayne Co back to Ryan. That is my guess. This season has been more of waste because we could have Bat’s villains back. Nope. We spend more time on family relationships or love relationships. The fight scenes are wrapped up faster than a commercial break.
@@tonycleek4981 That does explain why all his direct murders have been extremely low for an alleged successor to the Joker. But honestly, they could've shown more exploration on Marquis' side of who he is and whether this tragedy that's haunted him since that school bus hijacking should really define him. Maybe when he goes to Arkham he remarks how kids would bully him by saying he'd end up an inmate one day. Maybe he hangs out with some bros that think he's taking way too many risks for their liking, so he burns all his bridges. Or when he frees Zsasz and they hit it off, the crazy murderer notices the connection and they strike up a conversation about "What was Jack Napier like?", sort of mirroring the conversations about Bruce that the show usually has. And the impression he gets is of a funny, friendly guy who was wronged by society (especially Batman) and decided to lash out by making fun of its fatal flaws.

I believe that's why they are so willing to crash this plane with no survivors. Their only audience is the few LGBTQ people that are willing to sit through this dreck just so they can be so proud at the representation that only they are watching.
The funniest thing is us watching every Thorias, Az, JLB, EFAP and ProcrastiTara Batwoman videos - as a result on aggregate consume more Batwoman essence than most of those Nielsen-approved viewers.

I could've been watching Batwoman. SOBER. God bless ya Thorias. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do.
Personally, I am still annoyed that the writers don't understand the difference between ASPD and being maniac and crazy. Not having empathy has jack all to do with being coco for CoCo Puffs and just wanting to set everything on fire. And just how MANY goddman excuses are they going to give for Alice's behavior? First it was because she was kidnapped and tortured as a child. Then it was because Kate abandoned her. Then it was because she was brainwashed. THEN it was because of nanites. Now its because of a bad electroshock treatment? WTF? What does it take for a women to have personal responsibility in this universe?
I want to do a script re-write of Batwoman and make the show at least have consistency and not have a plot point dropped or altered for no good reason every single episode. But then I noticed if I did that I would likely have to watch the show multiple times and that just ain't happening.
Sophie has become the most wasted and ruined character in the entire show, like not only does she have no reason to still be in the show especially after Kate and her dad left BUT the writers have reduced her to nothing but a love interest to EVERY. CHARACTER. IN. THE. SHOW. Honestly why didn't the writers made Sophie a secondary/backup Batwoman just in case if something happens to Ryan or Ryan's actor ever leaves the show Anything's better than her being a love interest to either Ryan Kate or Renee
Sophie was always a pointless love interest even back in Season 1. She was only kinda awesome in Season 2 when she and Ryan were butting heads, but I knew as soon as she joined team Batwoman they'd ruined what little character she had. Same thing happened to Mary as soon as she jonied the team she became worse and worse each episode.
They couldn't make Sophie a secondary/backup Batwoman because they already have that in Luke. It's understandable that they made him Bat Wing because he's even more redundant then Sophie and vastly less attractive. So yeah, Sophie was, is, and probably always will be: the side piece.
I'm going out on a limb here, but my conspiracy sense is telling me that there's no such TV show as 'Batwoman', and Thorias is just reading the nonsensical silliness written in crayon by his 8-year old next door neighbour. Because I'm just going to reject the reality that this nonsense could actually exist in this world

Having a writing staff of ALL Soap-opera writers is kind of making sense now. Constant obsession with mellodrama, having the climax of every story arc always be resolved with a scisoring session, All talking, No action. Does it remind you of soap operas? It should. By my estimation, Batwoman is just a soap opera, with the trappings of "vaguely bat-person related IP" scattered through it. Its why the action is so bad, the story non existant , and most of the script devoted to simulating actual interpersonal relationships through melodramatic character moments written by someone with less finnese than a tween writer of Tumbler Sailor moon Slash Fics.
"ALL THE PEOPLE IV'E MURDERED BY LETTING YOU LIVE!"-Bruce Wayne to Joker Dark knight returns even Batman fucking admits it. but the difference is that is an intentional character flaw that is woven into heroes like batman,Daredevil,Spiderman etc then not killing their enemies makes them compelling unlike this show where it's just shear stupidity.

20:54 Didn't she already have that? Wasn't she adopted by a good woman? Wasn't that why she fantasized about going all stabby-stabby on Alice in whatever episode it was?
Yup. Apparently, the writers are choosing to ignore that because it doesn't fit their long-lost-bio-mom narrative.
Batsuit Ryan:
barely beaten Victor Zsaz. Got recked by Circe Kate even with Alice helping Ryan. And got put in a freezer only for Luke to save her.
Zero suit Ryan:
fought Circe Kate to a draw 1v1, defeated half of the GCPD on her own, and Brock Lesnared Victor Zsaz.

Procastitara started reviewing too
I felt that urge of curiosity back when Rose was Batwoman. Never gave into it. Now I never will with all these reviews I've watched.

Wouldn't that have been the first thing they'd try? Splash some water on him to make sure his eyes and heart don't dry up into crust?
Here's another question? When did they remove the serum from Marquis to begin with? I don't think they actually did. So how did he actually wake up even with the water!?
It seems one drop of water is enough to completely counteract the desiccation serum, which doesn't even begin to make sense, but what else do you expect on this show?
@@thoriasunlimited4053 I get that logic and reason are things that have to be left at the door when watching this... show.

They are playing a game, now. We all know this should've been cancelled, before it even aired one episode. They are outright defying any common sense. When's the Season 4 announcement?

Honestly, keeping track of the show's continuity is a pointless endeavor since it's literally getting retconned every week. True, Ryan did nothing to earn the CEO job and just had it dropped in her lap, but that doesn't fit the narrative in this episode, so now the story is something different.

I half expected them to make Kiki Roulette into an alias for Harley Quinn just so they could drag her into this shit.
Sophie has become the most wasted and ruined character in the entire show,
like not only does she have no reason to still be in the show especially after Kate and her dad left BUT the writers have reduced her to nothing but a love interest to EVERY. CHARACTER. IN. THE. SHOW.
Honestly why didn't the writers made Sophie a secondary/backup Batwoman just in case if something happens to Ryan or Ryan's actor ever leaves the show
Anything's better than her being a love interest to either Ryan Kate or Renee
Ryan got Kate’s sloppy seconds 😂😂

The mom pushing Ryan away to protect her from Marcus makes no sense.. he wasn’t even “crazy” yet.. he was like 2-3 years old
Can't believe we avoided a 'Kill Me' bingo after all that
For Gotham being destroyed by Poison Ivy would be a good thing
Need a dam full of veggie wash to counteract this hogwash the Batwoman writers have cooked up!
I can't wait to see what you have to say about batwoman this week's episode
just two more episodes and this........abomination will hopefully burn in hell forever. stay strong thorias.
I can’t believe the writers honest to God find relationship troubles more compelling than crime fighting and super villains.
Guys ....I think Thorias has officially been broken.
Not yet. But it's not for lack of trying.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 it's almost over man, you got this👍.
The most important thing in this episode is the scissoring.
They should make an uncensored version of that scene to get more views at least
"Derivative entertainment" is a term that describe the modern phenomenon whereby the audience hates the underlying content, but enjoys the critical content derived from said shit underlying content.
I truly do enjoy the torture you put yourself through for our entertainment! Thank you!
Because just like Rachel thinks her news show it full of truth and goodness....she thinks the same of this show hahaha
How can Mary all of sudden fight? She doesn’t even have the poison ivy powers anymore. My goodness, what a disaster.
I honestly watched Batwoman up until maybe season 1 episode 7… it was just more entertaining to watch a reviewer meltdown than meltdown myself watching the actual show.
I loved this video! Every second of it!
Thorias I salute you for going through this shitshow for are entertainment and also your other youtube brethren like Az from HeelvsBabyface is also suffering as well and the fact that both of you are still with us is nothing short of a miracle at this point. Because of how bad this show is.
I'm one of those poor unfortunate souls who watches Batwoman (due mostly to being a huge Batman nerd and being able to find entertainment in even the worst Batman-related media) and yes, there is some serious time dilation with this show. I mean, with the nonsensical plot, terrible acting, abysmal dialogue, and long boring scenes about lesbian love triangles and petty drama, it's no wonder it makes an hour feel like an eternity. But I like to see the episodes for myself before I watch your reviews, Az's overviews, and Jlongbone's reactions.
Lesbian love triangles...just that phrase alone makes me a tiny bit squeamish 🤢
The end is near. Stay strong.
