Hey man, thx for playing the alpha version of our mod. I am one of the poeple behind the lighting and i am currently trying to figure out the car materials for the reflections It is far from finished but we keep working on it
Hope you can make it, I think the only thing that the mod misses is car reflections. Will be patiently waiting for the final version of the mod. Wish you the best!
I personally find it funny how the original looks better imo. The way that the RTX has been implemented does not look how it should since there are a ton of missing light sources in that mod.
@BlackPanthaa I think that has to do with how with RTX, we can get perfect blacks where there is no light. Also, I think the ambient fog is not there with the original game, which also makes it look flatter in comparison. Since it's still a work in progress, it should only get better, which is great. This shows potential. From the video going over the most recent update, there is a particular image that looks like a modern, 2024 AAA game and imo it's the one with the 2 cars side by side driving in the night. I am excited for 2Unreal5Underground, but this also looks good.
The remix mod is missing A LOT of light sources and reflections. None of the neon signs or glowing arrows are emitting light. The street lamps look great, but too bright, probably to compensate the lack of other light sources. RT reflections seem to work fine on the car windows, not sure what the hold up with the car body. Convert the neon signs to cast light, dial down the street lamps, and fix/enable the reflections, this could beat the latest entries in terms of lighting. I have no idea how much work is require to convert and populate all the light sources, or what hardware is needed to render so much lights and reflections. But time would probably fix both those problems if the community continues to support this project.
@luislebronaponte2737 , "RTX" isn't a mod. It's a brand from NVIDIA. Also, you can't just add Ray Tracing (DirectX12) to an older title. This mod is simply adding more advanced PBR textures for better practical lighting and reflection, which is a long and tedious process because you need to convert all the texture maps with optimised normals, roughness and metallic. "RTX On" is ignorance.
@captureinsidethesound RTX On is actually something NVIDIA themselves have used to showcase their RTX working with games. Saying it is ignorance is calling NVIDIA themselves ignorant, so I don't get your point with that. Besides that, I do understand how you could misunderstand what I meant when I said "that mod" since I was talking about RTX in the comment. But it's ok. Don't worry about it. On another point, what you explained doesn't sound like a mod. Just retexturing. In my 20+ years, one of the games I've played is Minecraft, so I think I'd know what changing/adding textures here and there would add to the game when shaders that support PBR textures and the like. I know it is a tedious and meticulous process that can take a long time, which is why, in my reply, I mentioned about it being a work in progress and being excited for this and also the 2Unreal5Underground. Since a lot of light sources are missing, it is possible that: 1. The RTX implementation is not detecting some of what emitted light in the og game. 2. The RTX is working just fine and it's just that the OG textures had the lighting 'baked into' the textures, so it would make sense how a lot of parts of the map look dark af since those original textures more than likely did not have the necessary textures needed to work with RTX and have them reflect the nearby light off of them. Imo, the 2nd is the most likely case. This is why it is understandable why when scenes shown where there were barely any light sources originaly, the clips look so good. 🤔 Anyway, I'm not butthurt or anything, but I don't like ppl assuming I don't know much of what I'm talking about. While I do not know it all to an extent, I do know some of it. Or at least I'd like to think I do? XD Idk. Have a good day... or night. Idk when you'll be reading this, if ever. 🤷🏻♂️
"Need for Speed 2015 - it's an old game, right? Almost 10 years old" - It legit hurt me physically and mentally to hear this... wtf is happening? Why does time fly so fast?!
It is honestly baffling how modders for all this time have been completely neglecting (and still do) the term “art style” which is exactly what truly carries any kind of game foremost, rather than just lighting and sharp textures and this RTX mod is not an exception - I would honestly prefer playing with 2004 visuals rather than this mod which makes UG2 feel like it’s an Unreal engine game done in like a week or so.
Yeah, everything looks way too bright and the reflections are almost non-existent. Guess that's just what happens when you shove PBR shaders in a game without PBR textures and don't bother adapting the existing material and lighting settings to the new shader system.
@@AlphaGarglack of reflections is due to NFS textures system - each time you change colour game creates new texture with random hash, REMIX needs to know what texture with what parameters it should replace, that's why there still no reflections. But devs are working on in it, and eventually it will be fixed. About lighting, it's all configurable, you can adjust it by yourself in remix menu.
