Our GMAW SC WPS requires the root to be downhill. It would be interesting to see this welds etch and break test and what I believe would be lack of penetration at the root.

😂😂😂 WRONG down hand should only be for cosmetic purposes , plus welding hot downhand ,the weld don't penetrate just runs down the material . If you downhand any weld you turn the welder down you get better penetration, make any sense? The reason why you go colder is because you work the weld in by weaving the weld across as you weld down the join .
If you know anything about welding this is a very basic weld ..especially with Flux cored wire. It doesn't look like you have any penertraion with your hard wire You can move the weld pool however you like.. And the welders will only drag with Slag this is not correct nowhere on the net will you find this it just says maybe there will be Slag in weld

Ist doch kein Geheimnis, die Kehlnaht steigend so zu schweißen. Die Schuppung ist viel zu grob, das geht definitiv noch besser.

Stoving is not allowed in many nations under welding rules and laws with Shipbuilding, mechanical /construction engineering and asme
