I'm struggling so bad with this in school now. My vertical down isn't much better. Jody, thank you for showing your instructions in real time, not time lapse. This really helps me with pacing. I know that when I'm in the booth again, I will get uptight and start going too fast here, pausing too long there, but I have this video bookmarked and can go back to it time and again, as much as needed.
I was TERRIBLE the first 8 weeks of welding school. Me and this other student were constantly in competition of who was worst in the class. It was so aggravating to weld for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, and to suck so bad. Then, school had a forced a break for two weeks, and, when I came back, all of that knowledge somehow settled in my head, making me much better. By the end of school, I was one of the top 4 students in my class. That other student didn't pass. When I was screaming in my booth for months but putting in the work, he was on his phone. Work ethic makes a HUGE difference. For me, my anxiety would have me rush, which caused a lot of mistakes. I learned to develop a beat in my breathing, and then I matched my welding movements to my breathing. Once I had travel speed down and I could see my puddle/knew how my puddle was supposed to look, I started to experiment with welding patterns (circles, zig-zags, C's, etc...). When I found the pattern that worked best for me, I stuck to it and developed that muscle memory. You'll get it, bud! Try to be more lenient with yourself and have speak positive thoughts in your head. Welding is hard! But, lots of practice teaches you how to work with it. :D
Love the mig lessons! I know short circuit mig is old hat for you by now but I really appreciate the videos. I have a small low price machine and that is all it will do.
One thing I really had stand out in this video Jody, which should’ve been a given on my part 🤷🏻♂️😂 Your stick out is totally consistent,so it’s weaving in and out perfectly every time you go into the corner Great job like usual
A lot of these vids are nice but as a boilermaker our tests cannot have and weaves for our tests for common arc. Some do and get away with it by hiding it with stringer caps though
Hello. Great i could watch your videos for hours . . . Always something instructive 👍 No matter what and how is welded. Greetings from Austria/ Vienna.
Any tips on keeping those outer edges straight ? I tend to get wide at the top . not much but a little inconsistent . Great video btw. These settings helped a lot.
Hello Jody, I have a request for a future video. Can you school us on the proper usage of metal cored mig wire (70C-3M/E70-6-H4/E70C-6LS). It was a pleasure getting to meet you in person at FABTECH 2022.
If you pause at 3:38.. What are those little droplets on the weld that look like moisture? I don't think I've ever seen that before. Granted my mig is just a little flux core Hobart and I've never used gas. Are those droplets just slag or impurities? What is that??
I can do that with an arc welder, but every time I've tried with a mig it's looked like a forged turd. Is tgat a pulse setting? I have a hobart handler 210 at home and i can not get it to go up. Even the welders at work, i can't do it and i haven't seen anyone that could. It all just runs out of the puddle making globs. Sad part is I'm even a certified welder.
I'd weld 20mm thick carbon steel horizontally not vertically. But if u really wanna do it, maybe try 30 volts vertical down pulling the gun not pushing it on a root pass then a cap run on like 19 volts or something for a vertical up pushing the gun cap run. But on the root run u need to move quickly
I am trying to join the forum but keep getting the question wrong on what the character is holding to submit. It's a tig torch so anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
The first time I ever tried mig on pipe. Everything looked good,,,, Except for the Root pass, that shut looked like a pipe that a bunch of tree roots grew into. Plumbers know what I mean.
I did one of those in school that turned out almost perfect. I was so proud that i cut it off my test coupon and kept it 😂
you are not alone LOL
Graduated 2 years ago i still have my piece outside😂
I just did that yesterday 😂

Thanks for sharing Jody, good luck with the sales this weekend. Fred.
Since I watching your tutorial, I decide to be a welder. Now I'm welder/fabricator thanks to you senpai! ☺️🙇
Man, I wish I had a dad. 😢 at least I can give all this knowledge to my 4 kids.

You have the absolute best welding videos on U tube.i can see the puddle.excellent camera work.
Nice video, short to the point and doesn't over-explain like we're children.
i really appreciate that u show all the info at the end of the video 🤝
As always, short video, but full of content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Salutes from El Paso Texas...👍😉❤️
I'm very impressed with that weld Jodie. Vertical up destroys a lot of people including me haha.
You are much more advanced than us, but Egypt is excellent❤
Hey Jody thanks for another great video, I hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas 🎁🎄

My instructor has been trying to get me to do the circular motion for vertical but I’m more comfortable with v shape technique.

Sweet looking weld!

Wow Jody. Great video as usual. Very educational. I am going to practice that
Thx, great instructional video.
Beautiful welds
Please make a video on esab aristo mig uphill welding.

silicon from the wire floating impurities up to the top of the weld.
Hello sir what should be the vertical current voltage, solid wire is 1.2 wire size please tell
Excellent presentation!
Thank you for your videos.

Does gun angle play a big part
Ima try this again when i go to work hopefully i don't blow another hole. Ima try turning my wire speed down
Can u demonstrate a edge to edge plate weld for 5mmx5mm to 10mmx10mm plate horizontally
Nice weld that 👌
I use the xmas tree method they look insane if you do it correct
Can u tell me what is the amp. And voltage settings this kind of position sir?
Hello sir how much is the vertical current please tell me
Why you doing that big Texas weave? I’ve always been taught to do stringers.
What camera set up do you use for your welds?
E71 T-1C FCAW can you explain me amp& volt???
saya bisa belaja banyak dari vidio tuan trimakasih
When Welding 20mm thich carbon steel plate, what amperage is recommended for the vertical fillet weld?
I'd weld 20mm thick carbon steel horizontally not vertically. @@VypaGaming 👌
Very good ❤🎉
Sir can we use same technique for uphil mig on esab aristo machine
Jody, Thanks for the videos. My Hobart chart shows 18.5 Volts and 280 imp Did you lower the settings some for vertical, or is it the machine?
You wanna run colder on vertical up
UA-cam Community College with another win.
As always wonderful welds 😁😁😁
감사합니다
Three very effective minutes
Nice technique.
What would be the settings on c10 gas
@weldingtipsandtricks
Do you have any pdfs with common test pieces for common welding tests? Looking at upskilling
coming soon
Thanks

What gas are you using? 90-10? 75-25?
I'm guessing 75-25, be tough to get that weld with 90-10
75/25 argon co2. the end shows all the settings
Super écolage de précision.
Merci
