Don’t have to use conductive paint over copper hoops as they are already conductive. Also, the glass, agate and labradorite cabochons don’t need latex protection bc the are very hard and won’t be affected by electroforming solution

Hi Thanks for pointing those things out, they are helpful for anyone reading the comments :) . I have begun to stop painting over the metal recently when electroforming. It was unfortunately an old habit I picked up when I thought everything should be painted with conductive paint when I first learned, but when I make the tutorial videos I'm going to make sure to specify that! I was always worried about the solution damaging my crystals so I personally have stuck with the practice of using latex on all of my crystals, but I will definitely let people know in the future that depending on the MOH hardness of the stone/crystal it does not need to be sealed!

Hi, can you please tell me what the glove is you were wearing? and how did you make the open leaf design? thanks in advance. I love watching you work and would love to see a video of you explaining what you are doing as you go!😁

Hi, that glove I was wearing is a cut resistant glove. You can find them in the hardware store and they are made of some sort of Nylon material with thick rubbery side. When I hold my pieces to go over them with the brass brush I don't poke myself with the bristles when I wear the glove and since it is rubber it helps grip some of the smaller pieces as well. I did make a tutorial video you can find on my channel that is a more in depth explanation of the process and I will eventually make a series where I breakdown the steps into smaller bits and do tips/tricks of the trade as well to help others who may be getting into electroforming. :)

Hello, thank you for the great video. I like the style of video. I hope I can start making ring with "electro forming" characters and homemade tumbled stones. Thanks again for sharing. JP from France.

Thanks for watching and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!! I'll be making more in depth electroforming videos eventually too so people can learn more from them! 😁

I love electroforming as well and do mostly organic things- bones, teeth, skulls, sticks, leaves- you name it, I will try it. I adore the piece you show at the end that looks maybe like a beetle? Can you tell me where you source the antennae or part you used as the bail? So cute. Enjoyed your video.

Electroforming is such an amazing form of art and really let's you experiment with all kinds of things! I feel like I've barely scratched the surface and have only recently attempted leaves! Thanks so much! That piece at the end actually uses a ram's horn charm that I covered slightly with apoxie clay. I source the majority of my charms/bails/brass stampings from large variety of other Etsy shops so I can support some small buisnesses! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the support! 🙂

Do you have any tips for electroplating bones? I've been trying to but I can never get the copper to stick well.

@@justinh3754, I electroform, which isn't the same as electroplating, but similar enough this might help: I seal the bones with a clear coat, using two layers just to make sure there is good coverage, I use the spray matte version of Modge Podge clear coat, but other brands would probably work. When completely dry, I coat with conductive paint, dry and then electroform.

Hi... 😀 Do you seal the metal leaves and twigs, animals. etc. before painting with conductive paint?

Hi :) I have a few different things I do depending on the type or organic material I am using. If it is leaves or any green matter I will put it in vegetable glycerin for a few days to a week which will help rubberize (for lack of a better word) and keep the leaf sturdy enough to electroform while also protecting the detail. For twigs/sticks/acorn caps and such I will typically use an acrylic sealer or some sort of clear coat to protect it a bit before painting with the conductive paint. Thanks for asking! These are great questions! I will soon be working on an in depth video about electroforming and some of my tips and tricks!

Any links to the materials you use?

Hi, I actually don't have any links on this video because I am planning to do a much more in depth video about electroforming! I will be starting to work on that video soon and I will include lots of helpful info about where to get the materials. In the meantime you should check out Enchanted Leaves Website : enchantedleaves.com/pages/electroforming-resources-for-aspiring-artists
This resource is amazing and was super helpful when I was starting out!

Didn't care for the video not explaining what you doing or how you made the item that is the reason for a teaching video how did you get there

I am planning on making an in-depth electroforming tutorial soon. This was meant to be a quicker look at electroforming and a more stylized video. It was also one of my first ever UA-cam video's so I think I can do a much better job with a true tutorial now. Thanks for the feedback!
