Going to get my small recording studio set up today and I am so excited. This video helped so much, and I appreciate the no-nonsense approach. Thank you!
Based on previous comment, I’m very much the exception to your audience. Absolute neophyte to recording although I have now purchased all of the components listed, most, coincidentally, the exact same brand. Very, very much enjoyed this video and if it’s in the context of your focus, would appreciate learning how to interface the Akai keyboard controller to the DAW. I found the Akai instructions (and customer support) severely lacking. Thanks for you insight and channel. Great info!!
Thanks for this amazing journey sharing tips for recording music. I have learnt a lot and now i know where to start from to make a recording studio. Please advise me on what is required in a live recording studio set up. One Love from UGANDA.
People often forget/ overlook the importance of dedicated solid state or hard drives to help take the load off the computer running the DAW and recording/ processing audio at the same time, as well as power conditioners (similar to surge protectors) that'll help cut out the noise produced by electricity itself, and protect from your system shutting down entirely in the off chance of a power outage so that you can not only save your gear, but also save your work. Both very important components for home studios in my opinion.
Trying to play music again and I want to video record myself, i needed this and so lost i have given up on naking music almost but im scared of dying without ever putting myself out there
I am new to all this making videos and training. If I am going to do it I have to keep up with technology. Thanks for making this easier to understand.
Mixer-interfaces are worth consideration! Like the Flow8 and the Tascam Model 12 (and 16 and 24) which can interface all channels at once (not just two like many similar mixers) are also very worth considering! He's got a Model 12 on his desk there. The Flow8 definitely has the best value though
Thanks, Sunbird Falls Music! I agree - if you want something that helps tie various audio sources and destinations together AND acts as an audio interface, a USB mixer like my Model 12 is a good choice.
Thanks for atop notch production. It would be great if more content creators were as competent and helpful, thank you so much. Keep on doing what you're doing. Well done!
Sir, I am beginning. I want to record my written poetry professionally. In which my line will go in high tone and will also come in low tone. Tell me such mic and audio interface. So that I can record and mix later. But my room is not sound proof. My total budget is $300. A shopkeeper told me that you cannot do recording with dynamic mic. Please tell me what should I do. Which mic and audio interface should I buy? After buying which I do not regret.
Just remember the most important thing in your studio is you. Writing > Performance > Gear choice > Recording > Mix > Master > Song If any of those are lacking, the rest following it will be garbage, and it all starts with you
Awesome information. My intentions are to build my own studio and produce my final recording for music. I don't know anything about building a studio , I'm a retired international recording artist and want to put out my music. I have no producer so I have to pay for it myself. Thanks for the information. I sing but also play most instrumenst and write my music.

I’d like to fatten it up and make it stronger thicker that kind of thing please let me know. You seem to know everything. Thank you so so much.
I need to set up a PA system that can incorporate inputs from 2 wireless microphones, additional 3 microphones lined or wireless, a karaoke machine, laptop audio playing, and audio output to 2 speakers, audio output back to laptop for recording, plus video output to a TV (for the karaoke part). Any suggestion on what this system should look like?
I haven't invested in studio monitors and continue to use my Bluetooth speakers 2.1 for the sound. Any reason I should give up a good speakers for specialized studio monitors?
I'm currently using a V8 soundcard set for recording on soundtrap but whenever I sing high notes the audio starts to crackle. I did some research online and they said smt about keeping it at 24bit depth but I have no clue what that is 😢. Help do I need to change a soundcard or a better mic or smt 😭
Make sure your input level is set correctly. If the meter in the software reaches 0 dBFS it will be distorted. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/TCBHysRV4vs/v-deo.htmlsi=9ntT5uHFu2j68n4s
Hello I really appreciate your video. I am à singer and I don’t know how to play instruments. Can I use this with to sing instrumentals already done? I would appreciate to get your thoughts on this please. Thanks
Yes. An audio interface can be used to record singing also. You will need a microphone and an audio interface. Alternatively, you can use a USB microphone.
I think it’s important to note that your monitors are rear ported and should be on a slant because you’re bouncing said wave off the wall back in to your own face. The AX7 and their higher (staple) models are front ported so it wouldn’t matter. Slanted monitor pads and some acoustic paneling or a sound blanket would be huge. Also, an SM57 with a tube preamp arguably sounds better than a $200 akg condenser with focusrite “preamps”. You’re really buying a sound card with an interface and not preamps. You’re also showcasing DT770s which last time I bought were $230 bucks. For a $100 the Sennheiser HD280s are a steal and workhorses but Sony MDR7506 I think have a better all around sound with warmer bass, both of which beat out equivalent AKG headphones. The DT770s are good for mixing, master, and low level recording like vocals or acoustic. They aren’t isolating enough for rock drums or loud electric guitar. The HD280s are best for loud drums and guitar, the best for all trades for 100. Sony would be better for beat making and production. The DT770s are when you already have some cans. I’m saying this because you’re showing $250 headphones but an $80 keyboard. I’d say skip the MPK mini and just buy a used MPK 249 as everything about it is better including the velocity which will save you a lot of time in post. Also the DT770s NEED a headphone preamp and the Scarlett gives it just enough to work but plugging them in your laptop or phone is damaging to the speakers in the headphones as the preamp it’s powerful enough and using an under powering preamp is more damaging then an over powered preamp at lower volume
