Go for edible plants for the boys, and griw your own veggies in built up bed which the boys can help with. Just do a bit at a time. Keep real grass its healthier. Great video.

With your grass at the back I would put down a shaded grass mix. Your also need to top dress it with compost to stop the birds. Recommend jacks magic compost. Seed it just before a wet spell as well. Will help it germinate else if it’s dry your have to get on it twice a day for 10 minutes watering it

You could lift all the patio up then get a sand layer down packed down and then relay the patio which be much cheaper and levelthe grass you could lift take all grass away and get AstroTurf easy to clean low maintenance stays green all year round

I love how y’all think the boys are taking a nap and they are playing instead. 🤣 they will be little partners in crime against the two of you. I can’t wait to see your final plans for your garden and I hope there will be room for swings for the boys. The climbing roses will be beautiful. We grow them here in South Florida and they come in many different colors and varieties. Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Hugs from the south east coast of Florida.😎🌴🐠🌴😎

I would run Sleepers all the way from the front of the shed to where the old flower bed is, along the back and put a divider in, left side flower bed, right side play area as that area will never grow grass, it will always die off, then fill the right side with play bark and keep the patio area where you was going to put the play area, also I wouldn't recommend laying porcelain over the top of the existing block paving

Please check that the boys are not allergic to the lavender first. My nana put some in her garden when I was around 4 and I ended up in hospital really poorly. I don't mean to scare but it's better safe than sorry, I still can't go near it, and I have to be careful with that fragrance is in soap, etc

Reducing the height of the enormous hedge will benefit anything you do with the garden. Laying another patio on top of the existing bricks will not work, it will sink. Any decent builder would tell you this. A nice area with sand pit and play bark with activity slide would be great for your boys. What you really need is a tv garden makeover.

Doesn’t make sense to keep grass if you don’t look after it. Get Astro turf( it’ll be good for the kids too). That swing needs bolted in for safety reasons. Liked fabs idea of the sleepers. It takes a few years to get a garden looking good( especially doing it yourself) at the back you could do-raised area with planters, grow some veg( I’m sure the kids would love that too).

Have you heard of garden on a roll? You look online see what design you like and they send u all the plants and they are numbered then you have this paper template which is degradable and it has the numbers on so you match up your plant with the number so you end up with a beautiful flower beds.

Loving the garden plans so far. Definitely like the sleeper idea and will make it look more modern. Highly recommend lavender as that’s colourful, smells gorgeous and is super easy to maintain. Agree with Ell having shrubs too, lots of grasses etc would stay green all year round without the maintenance. Also roses are super colourful and easy to maintain too.
If you go for roses you could have one growing on the listed wall but just be mindful of its maintenance as you don’t want it damaging the wall further.
Definitely buy some black sheeting to go down on the gravel area if you haven’t already to stop weddings poking through in years to come. Although out of curiosity do you need the path to the shed to be that wide?
Robins are a sign of a loved one close by. ❤
If the grass doesn’t work, decking would be cool but it’s quite narrow.
Could you add sleepers and add plants to it instead of having the sleepers to the shed area?
If you’re going to modern then straight lines is the way to go. The sleepers will help with that.
The price of wood is expensive but you need to weigh up the price to do it yourself (your time especially with two boys) vs the labour costs of a company. Where you can I’d recommend paying for it to be completed as it allows your time to be spent on other things.
Yes you will get in trouble if you don’t look after the listed wall. Repointing will be good. Could add some mirrors in that space too along that wall to reflect light and add some further interest.
The raised play area bed with bark will be much cheaper for you to make and surprisingly won’t take too long. Will be an awesome space for the boys to play in which will be adaptable as they grow.
BBQ area is perfect, will be lovely to have furniture right outside too and it’s close to the kitchen too which is nice and convenient.
Patio flooring is a hard one. Will be costly due to the sheer size of replacement but you may find if it’s level enough that they can patio over the top. Movement wise should have completed by now. Usually movements within the first few years.
Can’t wait to see next vlog ❤

Just wondering if that wall is heritage listed and if its unsafe and you have it engineered checked and safety checked through ur local council, shouldn't it be removed not fixed? If u fix it than its not original. Just wondering if it can be legally removed due to it not being safe for your young family.
