the Italian State Police in the post-war period had three models of Beretta pistols at the same time! the Model 34 in 9 Short (.380 acp) Model 35 (32 acp) and the Model 1951 Brigadier in 9 Parabellum. In 1978 these pistols were gradually replaced with the new 92-S model in 9 Parabellum, and finally the 9x19 only one caliber was standardized. One of my favorites, I stripped it and cerakoted the frame, slide, outer barrel gloss black and blued the parts. Came out great and replacement parts are still relatively plentiful and cheap.
As for the locking block, it has to be said that, until the '80s, the operative life of a service handgun was considered to be around 5000 rounds. IE that's what the 1985 Joint Service Small Arms Program required (and several bids didn't even reach that threeshold without major breakages). If the locking block could pass that number, and the gun could even going on after having replaced a single part, all the better.
CURIOSITY. We must say a special adoption of this pistol by the Italian Guardia di Finanza stock section of the Bank of Italy 🇮🇹 which adopted this model only for this high-risk robbery service, while in the same police force it was only equipped the model 34 in short 9 gauge (.380 acp). These supplied pistols are very rare and currently exhibited at the Italian Guardia di Finanza museum 🇮🇹 👍.
The Italian Navy 🇮🇹 immediately adopted the 1951 model in 9 Parabellum since it was at the time the most powerful pistol available in Italy, obviously then in the 80s it was gradually replaced by the 92 FS model.
I just bought a frame and handle for one of these off gun broker and the slide and mag off eBay. It’s hard finding parts for these despite how much surplus has come into the country.
i bought one myself on labor day, i put about 70 rounds through it, it jammed 3 times on me. I ordered a new recoil spring. Could you point me in the right direction of how to trouble shoot it, or should i just take it to a gunsmith?
You mean dating the sample? You can. Until 1953 the date of production is reported plainly. From 1954 to 1974 roman numerals had been used (1954=X, 1955=XI, ... 1974=XXX). We've been losing them anyway. The supreme court keeps turning down 2A cases. Wheres Trumps national right to carry law? Still voting for him but wish he'd keep his promises. Oh and also the NRA is no where to be seen in major court cases like the CA magazine ban appeal happening now.

I bought one of these from buds. Got through 20 rounds and the locking block broke, making it impossible to move the slide to disassemble
