I did one random one, "Ron Weasley in Fisher Price car," wanting something like him in the red one with the yellow top that people get for their kids to run around the yard in. The AI made it look like there was a little Ron Weasley Little People figure, in a bunch of the Little People cars. If you squint at it, it really does look like it exists and someone just took pictures of it, it was insane.
If it is a fictional character it seems to preform better

I like to think that when AI's become capable of humor that's actually funny, they'll start making jokes about robot uprisings themselves. The funniest part is that no one will be able to tell if they're serious or not.

this is so cool and the creations are so insanely amazing
but as an artist, I stress about how this will effect digital artists and artists in general in the future? ;-;
especially doing art as a job - I do think as a concepting aid, its sooooo useful tho
I'm in Midjourney and you'll probably be fine. I'm an illustrator too but the prompts are still limited in an odd way. Especially composition is a problem, most of it is perfectly centered and rarely in an actual interesting composition. Also once it gets difficult you don't know what you're going to get. It won't work well if you need to be specific and have requirements. For example a cyberpunk neon cat with red eyes and gold earrings probably won't get red eyes and gold earrings.
I think that you, as an artist, will still be quite valuable in the world, because an AI lacks emotion and any form of emotional connection with art. Sure, they look good, but at the same time, it’s generic. Sometimes a little boring. There is no human attached to the artwork, it’s a program.
Keep creating art! Don’t let some AI take what you enjoy away from you. I think the AI will be used as a tool, but not a replacement of valuable artists such as yourself
@@SmuggyOcelot this was so sweet thank you 🥺
I think the most frightening thing about it is that as AI gets better at what it does, companies will ALWAYS choose it over real artists because it's cheaper and quicker. AI art will never surpass true human art, but corporations don't care about quality. just profit.
I also have dawned upon this cause there's been talk about ai generating music and I am like what if it generates the perfect metal album each time leaving us musicians nothing to do cause it has already created the best but I think ai can't generate emotions and tone so maybe if ai takes over it'll be like amazing to find a real musician like wow this person actually makes music without help at all instant recognition

13:12 Actually: This is just what the AI is ALLOWED to generate. It could easily generate real faces, that's a thing since years. The creators aren't allowed to due to legal reasons, so the AI always messes the faces up.
You also have to realize that DALL-E Mini is a more primitive version, yeah it's good an interpreting what you mean but not good with like proportions and perspective and such. Also with being more general it wouldn't be hyper focused on making faces unlike something like thispersondoesnotexist.

@@AnomalyINC Automation likely will. There's statistics for this sort of thing.
13:26 the creators of DALLE actually made it so it couldn’t recreate perfectly realistic pictures of actual people because of how easy it would make it for people to create fake stories that people would actually believe because of the picture, that’s why a lot of the pictures that are of Jack have his face look all smooshed because it’s not allowed
It's also a much more primitive version and it's not focused on specifically human faces unlike other things.

Glad to see I'm not the only one worried about how this may affect artists.. It feels like a small slap in the face to see these beautiful works of art, that would take me a long ass time to create, be able to be created by a computer in minutes. My dads art style looks very similar to the severance prompts but takes him weeks.. not to mention people who do art as a job, there may soon be less of a need to commission human artists. I'm also not excited for the amount of people were about to see who are going to claim these prompts as their original art 😅
The piracy and art theft gonna go wild in the next couple decades😅👍
Oh it's not even funny, read on twitter today about some guy that entered a digital arts contest and got first prize with an AI picture that he said he had been "working on" for about five weeks. (Didn't read into it too much but from my understanding the judges were not aware).
The really sad part was the replies containing a LOT of discussions about if it was fair and wether he was an artist or not. Too many thought he was..🙄
@@pontus6444 That saddens me. I don't want to be one of those conservative types of people who are like "bah, technology does everything! Back in my day..." but with art I feel like I have to be. It's great to be able to create things so quickly, but for people who truly enjoy the act of painting itself and aren't just in it for the results, it's a serious punch to the gut that we'll have far less jobs and opportunities to do that.
This is technological progress, it's happened since the dawn of time. Technology allows us to produce more with less labor, freeing up people to do other tasks. 99% of people used to be farmers and now only 1% are thanks to technology. At one point in time all the farmers complained about less farmers being needed, but now we have engineers, doctors, delivery drivers, programmers, so many jobs that help make our quality of life so much better. Some farmers really liked to farm but the increase in automation isn't just better for society, it's also inevitable.
@@MatthewBaka the same logic really doesn't apply the same when it comes to art. Art is art because people make it and express things with it. Imagine an AI-generated song. It'd lack a LOT of the meaning that most music has just because a human didn't make it. Idk if you're an artist or have made art at all, but artists are concerned for both moral and practical reasons. I don't want to dump a multi-paragraph rant on you in a youtube comments section but i'd encourage you to look into the concerns that real human artists have about it.
Fun fact: DALL-E gave pictures of Jack's twin and him holding baby because there's a lot of photos on the internet where twins hold baby of one of them (confusing the child because they don't who their real parent is), and since internet pictures were DALL-E's training material this is why

I actually understand the art one. As an artist myself, that takes time and effort. They must have practiced and worked for hours. It deserves its spot up there.
I am a little worried that along with "oh digital art isnt real art" and "oh but digital art is just easier" now we're going to start having "Oh but now we have AI art, You're not even necessary" added to the list of comments made to digital artists almost on a consistent basis (this is seperate from the list of BS that gets told to traditional artists but that's a discussion for another day).
I've already gotten the "AI will replace artists" comment once or twice around the time of the previous AI photo generation hype, and im worried people are genuinely going to think you can replace artists with AI. Maybe that's what the programmers of these AIs want for their programms too. I really hope not. I can appreciate it as its own medium, but i am worried that people are going to try and overuse it.
I follow a Twitter Artist who uses Mid Journey to make art. He gives it prompts (like arms, cogs, filigree etc. : edit) Than he uses Photoshop to cut out specific/ small sections of the auto generated pics to combine them together seemlessly. The pieces are huge, intricate & very stylistic.
I cld also see this used if ppl are having burnout w their Art as well.
@@rexana_rexana The funny thing is that I also didnt realise how difficult Digital Art is until i tried it (althought im not really great at art in the first place) and damn, is it a completely different experience. It's easier in some aspects, but super hard in others because of all the tools available, layering, etc. I see no wau AI can completely replace artists, not unless someone has a supercomputer and bothers using said supercomputer solely for an original art generating AI that actually produces decent results, and still then it completely removes what makes art special in the first place: they're made by a person with feelings, meanings, thoughts blended in while an AI has none of any of that.
sorry for the rant lol, i almost went off topic.
@@halzion I agree completely! It's getting everyone else to agree, or even acknowlege the importance of the human behind the art. AI generated AI... I don't think there'd be a need for human brains anymore.
hey
The ending makes me wary coz I wanted to be a concept artist but now.. who knows if we’re even needed in the future. Art used to be one of the only things AI couldn’t create better than a human. It’s scary stuff
Exactly what I was thinking... This AI is gonna take the job away from so many artists and concept artists it's really scary...
Ai could take away quite literally any job after a certain time, I wouldn't worry in the grand scheme of things since either more jobs will be created in a different or new industry or there'll be some change in how money is distributed, maybe even some sort of social revolution along with it like what happened in the industrial revolution. It certainly is scary but I'd look at it from the perspective of exploring a new world more than anything (however daunting that may be).
If you live in america I actually *would* be worried about AIs taking over job markets. But in places with a social safety net you don't have to be too concerned.
That said, there'll always be a need for skilled people to interpret the vague ramblings of a CEO and turn it into something actionable. Learning about AI, at least from a high level view, and how to work with it would allow you to fit such a job.
Why not learn to manipulate AI generated images to create the artwork you want? That's what I do! I'm a digital artist, music writer, and amateur 3D modeler. Learning to evolve with the tech is one of the most important ways of the modern artist imo, use that shit and squeeze the fuck outta it until you get shit. When life gives you lemons make some goddamn goodass lemonade! There's only so much detail that you can give an AI. Remember, this AI is only replicating what exists. Sure, the crazy stuff does it well, but it's not even creating something truly new, it's only building from what it has already existing. That's why you can't give it such complicated specifications, because then it'd become VERY janky.
@@exist4046 well, anything anyone has ever made is just something replicated from what they already know and what they know exists. Thats how everything works. We make stuff and things and art based on what we know, see, hear and feel/etc. Eventually AI will genuinely be able to create art just as a human would. Humans are basically just very very complex and intelligent AI or I guess you could say AI is/are just dumbed down humans but soon enough they will become just as smart and even smarter then us, eventually AI and machines will be able to do everything a human can but better AND more. The only real difference is that we are organic and that's mostly a downside because if or more like when we finally destroy our planet, we will die off while AI will continue on.

As an artist, seeing the Midjourney ones,,, upset me a bit? Idk, I think it could be an AMAZING tool for artists looking for inspiration, but the fact it just makes full on illustrations like that makes me scared for my future careers. Also the fact that Jack was saying he "made" them even though he just put a couple words in an AI image generator was a bit aggravating. Artists put so much time, thought and effort into their works.
I honestly agree with you. While self-taught, I have spent years learning how to improve myself as an artist and still have people tell me my commissions or merch is "too expensive." Watching them go to another fellow artist who was willing to give them what they wanted for $10 vs. my $50 has been hard enough. Knowing they can eventually go to an AI generator and get it for free is even more upsetting - and genuinely depressing - for a creative person. It's beginning to feel like artists have no purpose when machines can generate thrills in no time at all.
Same. I guess the future is the future, but it breaks my heart to think that the next generation might not even bother learning to paint or draw because they could just have an AI do it for them. I'd like to say that an AI could never trump the intention and creativity behind human-made artwork, but I'm not so sure...
Randomly generated content legally isn't allowed to be copyrighted. The only issue is proving that something was randomly generated.
I wouldn't worry too much. These AI only take from what already exists. If you were to give midjourney an incredibly detailed and niche prompt, it will give you a nice looking image that's missing a lot of the details you described. It mainly excels in imitating general concepts in a pleasing art style. It works well with single word prompts especially, but that's not too impressive considering they're vague prompts to begin with and thus can't really have "wrong" interpretations. Humans are still absolutely necessary. At least for now lol..
I think that there are certain levels of illustrations that people want made that CAN be fulfilled by an AI, where _the use_ for the end product is likely worth $10 or less. people don't want to pay $50 to have an image of themselves holding their pet in a cute art style for their profile pic
Full disclosure; As an illustrator the ai art you showed at the end was both utterly fascinating and utterly terrifying. Kinda scared for my job when this becomes more accessible, not gonna lie.
On the other hand, it may open an unprecedented well of creativity for artists, you never know where this kind of stuff is going to go
The skill level and execution may not be ours, but the prompts will be? 😅
Well it can only do images that are close enough to a specific idea...I guess. I think its great for getting ideas and doing storyboards... We might need some restrictions tho. Putting artists out of Buisness would be a shame.
Makes me wonder if AI generated art has potential to be book covers or even backdrops to existing digital art, like for example in an illustration.
yeah but the thing is that all of this generated content is merged with images (including art) that already exist, meaning that if something doesn't it'll be much harder to generate like a drawing of a certain angle + pose. But as a fellow artist, i completely agree and am also terrified.. artists are aleady mistreated and are just gaining a bit more respect, and then this comes around to replace all of that? I hope its used more as a tool/ help for artists instead of a replacement..
Yea it honestly scares me as an artist. Like “why hire an artist when we have AI?”

As a digital artist I'm worried that I'll be out of a job.

As an artist, seeing what Midjourney can do right now scared me to an extent. It really makes me wonder how unique/ important human made artwork (digital art or any other traditional physical artwork) will be when compared against to a museum of art generated by this AI. It's fascinating and also worries me.
Imagine a few years or decades ahead in time when we'll be able to put on a full VR suit and step into and explore entire AI generated photorealistic 3D worlds based on just some random seed phrase like this.
What a cool thought, I bet you are right
it's a nice thought, for sure. VR hasn't been doing too great from what i've seen so far though, so unless things change and it gets a fair bit better investment it'll basically stay as it is now.

A.I.-generated art is really cool & all but I hope this won't kill commissions. Artists still need support.
Exactly my thought process too. I feel like this software is going to hurt the community of really talented and hardworking artists greatly. :(
@@kittyethereal7679 Artists will still continue to make interesting art that people will want. While somebody could certainly explore AI art, I don't think that'll take away from others art. Also, these AI rendered images are based on things we have given the machine access to so it relies on humans in that capacity.
the difference is that ai generated promps wouldnt be able to quite get something right, while commissions you could tweak with anything (i think, don't quote me on that)
Well, I don't think it will. I think that because Dall-E can't create Original Characters out of thin air. I tried and it doesn't work well as intended. Artists are still powerful over Dall-E. Humans are powerful over technology, as long we don't let it be, which, for the most part, we don't. With this in mind, we should just be wary and make sure things don't go out of hand. Honestly at this point I think we as a species need to think about this a lot more, and that makes me want this to happen faster. Almost every job will be automated eventually. I forget the exact estimated percentages being thrown around, but pretty soon a good amount of entry-level jobs will be taken up by what will then be considered simple machines. What I feel is sad about the “good” ones is that if these engines become widespread, it will become increasingly harder to value and analyze art. If you look at a digital painting made by a human, then despite the medium you can speculate on what was a the artist thinking about, what choices they made or what symbolism they wanted to portray. If you look at an AI generated painting all you can speculate on is “what was the prompt?” even if the piece looks beautiful and meaningful.
While the artistic intent and the artists vision for a piece is always an interesting discussion to have, in my opinion the more important part of art and its value is how other individuals respond, what they can gleam from it, and that is still something we’d have with ai generated artwork. However it’s a moot point, as artwork made by humans isn’t ever going anywhere, even if ai generated art becomes more common alongside it.
@@toyguy119 The problem also becomes companies using AI art to cut corners and actual artists lose their jobs. Concept Designers, Illustrators, Storyboarders, Character Designers, etc, all of their jobs could be tossed because companies would rather someone sit on a computer and input prompts. That effects real people. Yeah, Ai art is cool and all, and if it ends up a seperate medium then it's completely fine and the worry will have been over nothing, but knowing the trend of companies, they'll cut any meat they can to save a pretty penny, even if they end up with an artificial replacement and the actual humans they dumped are left with nothing left to do to feed themselves. That's my worry, and the worry of many other artists in this comment section.
@@rexana_rexana well, yeah I can see that in the case of corporate art, and people needing to make a living not getting work due to companies finding a cheaper alternative. It’s ultimately just the logical conclusion of the incompatibility of art with capitalism
@@toyguy119 That's fair, it's still frightening as fuck and i hope that AI doesnt become more than something to joke at or a small hobby thing or else it will cost people jobs. Just another reason to hate capitalism
@@rexana_rexana I think it has become something more than just a joke-art generator. The trashy images spreading around are generated by Dall-e mini. Dall-e 2 is a completely different program made by different people, and it is incredibly consistent at generating decent/pretty good/great art.
I feel like the internet must be big fans of Zdzisław Beksiński considering AI is drawing from thousands of images yet seems to favor his aesthetics (or at least similar art to his).

CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?
I think I can speak on behalf of most artists watching this : what midjourney does is terrifying,
noone will pay an artist if they can just put it into an AI
Exactly!!!!!!! That's the biggest problem!
EX. ACT. LYYYYYY
Dang jack, those pics are really freaky and scary, it’s a good thing we’re here to conquer it
14:38 top right got me down bad
Me: *Sees "Jacksepticeye hugging the devil"*
Me: *Immediately feels a MIGHTY need for a video with Jack and The Click*
15:39 all of these Yodas are me at various ages suddenly having a panic attack out of nowhere
Jack PLEASE do more of this never seen you laugh this much in a video.
he laughs in alot of recent videos tho
The Jacksepticeye drinking coffee one where he is holding one cup to his eye 😂😂 oh my god I can't stop laughing
The actual Dall-E 2 isn't like this. It's much more awesome. This is just Dall-E Mini. 😆😆 the other one, it's still on beta and only selected people can access it right now. It's so cool! I signed up for waiting list hopefully i get in soon. The art you showed at the last part is pretty badass i love it! Kinda inspired me to start painting environment again 🔥
In 13:19 he did show one’s made in Dall-e 2
@@thebacteriawasbeatentodeath eh, I don't agree honestly. Even with the advanced shit there's not enough actual control over what exactly it creates in the end, and there's only so much information it can be given. I'm an artist too, and I'm honestly stoked for this shit. Maybe not to the whole public, but releasing it for use under very specific guidelines, regulations, and specified licensing would be so fucking cool. There won't be some mass movement toward only AI art, people understand what goes into ACTUAL artwork, and besides that AI can only build off of what is existing, really, it can't just make something totally new and original. If anything this sort of AI will mostly be used for abstract things, creating eldritch horror in HD, and making concept artwork for buildings, animals, and landscapes quickly so that the artist doesn't need to waste all their time on just the concept art and instead quickly begin modeling, painting, coding, etc., what they want.
@@thebacteriawasbeatentodeath exactly! Even us humans aren't original technically "original" or "new". We are just replicated from our parents genes. That's just how life and everything is. AI will eventually be able to do anything a human can do but better and MORE. It can be a frightening thought but it's just the truth.
I think OneyPlays had access to the new version for their video yesterday. Some of the art was so good it could be an album cover and no one would have guessed it wasn't made by a human.
7:17 they really just put an egg for a lamp on the bottom right
Never did i think i would genuinely be scared of AI replacing artists
ken from bee movie be like: 16:18
7:40 that's jack if he was a space marine
When this gets even better I want to use it to try to generate environments from dreams I’ve had. As someone who’s not an artist, this seems like a really cool way to show your friends how terrifying the dimly lit, half flooded, liminal as hell space, public bathroom that’s been a recurring setting in your dreams for years is! Maybe that’s just me.
... are- are you okay? I mean probably not but like- /j
If you want to try to generate environments, try to sign up for the Midjourney Beta, it's a lot better at doing environmental images. I got in within a few weeks of signing up.
The babies in the "meets his twin" set might be from videos online where a dad will introduce his newborn baby to his (the dad's) twin brother, and the babies get REAL confused. 😂
6:26 looks terrifying because not only does Jack look like a mix of leatherface and Freddy Kruger, but Sam is also in the background giving you the StArE
11:46 the middle one actually looks like a legitimate photo, just slightly blurry
Not gonna lie when Jack said he only had green hair for just under 2 years I had to fact check...
it was only 2 years...
Felt like much longer
I thought it was about 4 years-
"Fact check" you think he doesn't know how long his own hair was colored? Lmao. Seriously?
8:53 Top of the mornin coffee flavored vape juice?
I need that
17:18 This makes me wonder if something like this would be possible. A malformed GIANT planet that isnt in the "goldilocks zone" for life, but it has a massive land pillar jutting out that has an earth sized sphere on the end that is in the "goldilocks zone." I know it wouldnt really work because of the rotation of the planet would mean that the smaller protrusion would spend at least half its time not in the zone, but it would be really cool and I feel like could make for an interesting concept for a game or movie.
Who knows! If space is truly infinite then that would mean there are infinite possibilities which kind of implies that any reality or world we could ever think of, does exist somewhere out there. I like the way you think
@@jayshirley8274 yes
@@jayshirley8274 like the infinite multiverse
AI art will never truly replace human art. Sure, it may be easier to access for people who haven't spent years drawing and practising, but people don't draw because there's a demand for art. People draw because they love it. And since art will never fade out as a hobby, as a passion, people will never be replaced by a computer, because the computer makes what it's told, not what it wants.
The job portion will probly get excessive saturation tho
@@KeiraA333 exactly
Human art will assuredly still exist, but art as anything for more than a hobby, whether for making money or otherwise, can certainly be replaced by AI art. If not now, then soon. As in a decade or so, i mean. Whether that will actually occur, however, remains to be seen.
The tech is mind-blowing, but personally, I GREATLY dislike how it's being applied to art, mainly because I have a very real worry that, once it starts generating properly competent and cohesive imagery, beyond even what Midjourney is capable of, there will be a paradigm shift towards devaluing pretty much all levels of manual artistic skill, especially for those at the bottom.
I cannot deny the improvement in productivity and utility it provides to many a profession, but I believe that the realm of creativity should be left to people.
Maybe it's me being a hopeless idealist or someone who feels like an inadequate artist, and it's what society wants to move towards, but I maintain that, should we ever reach a point where the underlying societal systems, maintenance and dull, thankless jobs can be offloaded onto perpetually self-sustaining AI management systems, creativity will be the expression of the human experience we push towards.
You know what a great game you could play with this would be? A competition between you and Felix where you're shown the images and have to guess the prompt.
18:04 - For anyone who also thinks "that's exactly my kind of art style" I'd highly recommend Daniel Sherekin (Boro CG on UA-cam, formerly Borodante). He's a Ukrainian digital artist with a very similar style. He's not only an amazing artist, but also a great art educator - for anyone interested in digital painting.
Absolutely agree!! I've watched his videos for years now and he's taught me so much about digital painting.
6:22 I just now that that name is sam
I'm imagining a future where you just AI generate yourself playing all of the games fans are begging you to play that you don't want to. You could have a whole channel dedicated to it, call it AIsepticeye plays
Then the AI Septic Eye should probably look like a live action version of my Septic Fan Art.
Or JacksepticAI
@@cathrine2470 . Actually yes, that sounds better.
I never thought about something that Sean said- that these are the early days of AI generating images. Imagine in the next years how it will progress and how it wil get better and better. I also think releasing it to the public so that hundreds if not thousands of people will use it and write the weirdest and most random prompts is a great way to help train it and develop it
13:48 the worst part is that its a muppet head on a human body
No matter how good AI generation for videos will be in the future, Jack yelling at the camera will never be expendable by artificial intelligence
Video idea - subscribers send you these photos without the title and you have to guess what they were entering into the generator. 🙈
Nice idea :)
5:06 he said the thing!
13:21 "Its-a me, Luigi!"
This software is incredible and seems like the future. My only concern is that it may help stifle our collective imagination we start to use it as a crutch.
These pictures are cool and all, especially the Midjourney ones, but I feel like it takes the human element out of art. Ever since cave paintings the concept of art has always been in my opinion the one thing that is so uniquely human. I’ve never really been an art nut but I’ve always appreciated the great artists and their works throughout history, and now even this oldest and most precious aspect of humanity is starting to become automated.
AI can only create from what exists, humans can make things new. People won't stop recognizing what goes into art, and artists will find ways to take whatever the AI spits out and create something else from it. Personally, Im excited for this shit, as an artist myself.
@@exist4046 humans can only create from what already exists as well.

Fun fact - in the US, if it's made by an AI (or any non human), it can't be copyrighted. And technically that includes AI generated NFTs, like the apes.
The future will be randomly generated!
