got myself a 4th gen. did a 2 inch spacer lift and btf UCAs, put on 1 inch wheel spacers to ride on 295/70/17s with the stock wheels. got a double din dvd player with a backup camera installed. gonna install another for the front and use an old video selector switch to switch front to back. got a 42 inch 240 watt light bar installed, and a couple stickers to make it go faster. the brown wire mod is my next issue to tackle. these larger tires make it want to kick in more often.
I got a red 98 Ford explorer XLT they are amazing with offroad I love it but I've really messed it up over the past years it's got about 109,000 miles on it
I have a 98 XLT 5.0 AWD and a 98 Sport 4.0 OHV, been looking for front brush guard/push bar like what you have but can't find anywhere, all the ones I have seen are made for the new explorers like the police versions. Where did you get your front brush guard/push bar?
@@OverlandFlorida i recently acquired a 2000 explorer xlt. I also was a Jr in high school in 04 so I was compelled to comment love from West palm Beach !
I love my 98 5.0 EB edition. It's an absolute tank. Besides cracked hoses, fluids and spark plugs it's needed NOTHING. Amazing vehicles bring back the gen 2 with new gen interior!!!
For anyone wondering, Brown Wire Mod only works on ones pre-97. 97-01 Brown Wire Mod doesn't work, apparently via Explorerforums.
Good information.

Overland Florida oh youre welcome man.
That is an awesome starter rig, bet it was fun to drive up in those hills.
Cool explorer. I have had a few. My last was a Merc Mountaineer with the 5.0 AWD. It did pretty good on the trail.
Same here, my family has had a few. My mom recently got a new Jeep Liberty since they didn't like the new body style explorer.
I love it lol. Plan on making mine an overland rig one of these days
2 door Explorer sport! Had a 2000.... still my favorite
My dad still drives this around town. Still a reliable vehicle.
I've got an 05 Escape Hybrid! Probably never overland in it but it could probably do bumpy country roads. It's 2wd.
Awesome!
Good for road trips anyway.
@@OverlandFlorida thanks for the support!!

That's barely any miles.
Was yours a AWD?
Stock these are insanely good off road
The brown wire is off the selector switch harness or down below by the tranfercase harness? I just subbed btw. 😏
It's been like 15 years, I don't really remember lol. I know the wiring harness us under the drivers seat.
I love my old exploder I have a 2000 V8 5 liter
Those are good trucks!

I bought it used back in 2005. Try looking for one that fits a mercury mountaineer.
Thought about adding a winch?
Not too the explorer. We don't plan on doing anything else to it.
Did you have to extend the steering shaft?
Yes. It came with the body lift.
still have that explorer? good truck
We sure do still have it.

@@bryanCLXT haha. Thise are good years for explorers. We went to HS during the good years. Right before smart phones took off.

Ours is still being used!
@@OverlandFlorida love 2 hear it! These are fantastic vehicles!
Uhhh is that even 4 wheel drive?
Uhhhh. Yes.
People see something that doesn't come stock with 35's and say this kind of nonsense lol
5.0 would be more impressive
You're damn right.
A 5.0 exp sport is sweet. I swapped my 98 ranger to a 5.0... best thing I've ever done
