"Shotgun and Camelback" homes are the result of the tax practices of a century or so ago. Property taxes were based upon the width of the structure, hence, a bunch of VERY narrow, VERY long structures.

Shotgun house means you can shoot a gun through the front door to the back door and Bullet will go right through without hitting a wall

We’re being sold out … and hurts to have our neighborhoods we call home played like chess pieces on the board. Many of us wish, we could remain calling Gtown/ Highlands our homes. I have a degree in communication .. from UofL, mind you.. but this is part of our problem and hopefully they’re open to this dialogue bc Im just as capitalist as anyone else and I owned rental properties, plus my own home.

I know you don't talk too much about history. But I just move here from Venice Italy and call my attention that Louisville use the french Fleur de lis, I went to the Frazier museum and I got no answer. If you know something about it please let me know why Louisville use this french símbol. Thanks.

Great question! I believe it's because the city, Louisville, was named after King Louis XVI. The fleur des lis was his symbol, and so Louisville has kept it as part of their symbol for Louisville and Jefferson County. Thanks for watching!

@@katieskeen thanks for the answer. But what was the relationship with Louisville with France?, I try to study the history and I didn't find why, relationship between Louisville and France doesn't shows up not even in the books I found and the museum. I'm curious, I'm just an Italian lady who loves history.

@@claudiaalrabiah563 Many places in US have "Louis" in the name, because of the support France showed to the American colonies during the Revolutionary War.
