I hope Rockstar adds manual gearboxes in the future
It dont feel right in gta 5 but in gta 6 im almost sure it will be an option

Yeah the cars are just geared really weirdly across the board so they'd have to give them all new ratios if they want the manual mode to be enjoyable. Hoping GTA6 will have it figured out though it's on the top of my wish list for the game next to an mx5.
Maybe... its more arcade than sim.. plus its easier to shoot and drive in auto

Drag races and its features are a good sign for GTA 6

I believe that R* is using GTA Online to test new features for GTA 6. I agree that some proper tires should have been added along with the drag races, but maybe this would require a lot of work with the physics and car handling.
It would definitely have an issue with physics and handling, but R* could easily just add the models for slick tires available to all wheel types as a cosmetic custom tire design like whitewalls or tire lettering. They proved that its possible with changing the tire tread with offroad wheels, and they have several models of slick tires, Sport/High End tires on the RE-7B, S80RR, etc. F1 wheels, etc. Drag tires on the Tornado Rat Rod, Apocalyptic Impaler, etc. The only one they would have to make a model for is for Tuners/Muscle/Lowrider, but they all have the same rim size so it would just need one model.
There’s no doubt about that. They used a lot of the same features from RDR2 also. Such as only being able to carry 2-4 weapons at a time. The rest of the weapons will be stored in the trunk of your vehicle. Looting will also be a thing in GTA6 and items you loot will act as perks which can give you health, armor, or sabotage the cops.
Rockstar done that wit all they games

that's what i'm saying, now we actually got a place to race and some easy money from them. gta 5 needed this since the launch, and now after 10+ years we finally got it.

They just need to add more cars into the drifting and drag races
But why doesn’t anyone que up in the races I thought it would be packed everytime I start up a drift race nobody ever joins I go to lobby to lobby to lobby I had got more people joining pursuit races than drift races full races I can’t even get one person for these drift races I thought it would be so many more people playing them
This reminds me a lot of the first couple of Fast and Furious movies and Need for Speed underground. Those both had 4 car races so that may be the thought there.
Broooh I was so dissapointed. When I heard Drag Race I thought about quarter mile races... or eighth mile races.. real street races like in the Street outlaws series kind of style..this is bs imo

The drift tune for specific cars is still my favorita feature
this brings me hope for new features in gta 6, like the manual shifting and the speedometer for example
If this is anything like real driving, you gotta listen to the sound of the engine to know when to shift gears
so...they're gonna add weird and quirky cars like the hotring everon and the old stunt race muscle cars but not the peyote gasser, a designated drag car that they gave for free in the event week before this? Rockstar confuses me every chance they get. I haven't tried these races yet but I might come back to give my opinion of them when I get the chance.
My only complaint is not being able to use the vamos or the other cars with the whellie bar.

No it’s not moron gta 6 is already probably done they wouldn’t still be working on basic things like cars or races at this point
So they couldn't just do a drag upgrade like they did with the drift upgrade that makes absolutely 0 sense

@djbrothers4965 Exactly we didn't get no special upgrades or anything it was just a drift tune why can't we get just a drag tune not asking for any special upgrades just the tune in the actual game

They have the models and the feature technically with cars like the Apocalyptic Impaler, Peyote Gasser, and Tornado Rat Rod. I don't have the inner workings of the game, but theoretically they might work the same way with how bikes can use different wheels from front and rear options. It could apply the same way to those cars because the rear wheel can't be changed, but I recall modding the Impaler once (save editor, not ingame LSC) and it changed the rear wheel as well.
@@ienvy_kuro almost any car, besides those you mentioned, are getting thinner and smaller. If you are lucky you'll get both smaller and thinner wheels at the same time, when you change them from the original. Who wants a car with wheels from a shopping cart? 😂 🛒
Now we need some proper drag cars, I would love to see top fuel and funny cars added that have a stupid speed!

Drag races are in a straight line as soon as you add corners they are just races so not really drag racing at all .
This reminds me of NFS or Midnight Club Dub edition....I hate how beer trucks slowly cross the road...or that cars in traffic just stop or drive slower....

For me drift was a step in the right direction, but drag was a step backwards. It's not really true drag racing. It's just sprint races with a few new mechanics. Doesn't feel like drags at all.
I wish we could at least get the tachometer on our screen in Free roam.

The fact you can't use your own custom vehicles for the drag races makes me not even want to drag race lol. Also shifting is to fast and unrealistic.

I liked the drag racing itself, but i really hate their choice of cars here. No new Vigero and Dominator present, no Peyote Gasser which is an actual drag car. But Postlude, even when upgraded slow af car is availible in tuners class... And how can Sugoi, a Civic, compete with a Corvette? Literally no one drives Sugoi in drag as far as i saw.

I think the concept is pretty cool, has something of an NFS:U2 vibe to it. R* could have done a better job implementing it, I think. I would love to see the manual gearbox in free roam, seems like I’m not alone judging by the comment section here
Interestingly my 10F widebody didn‘t appear in the selection list. So I couldn’t use it for drag races with sports cars class.
How does a couple mile point to point 4 car rally through traffic qualify as a drag race? This is nothing like drag racing.

It was definitely a let down… once you do all of the races, there’s nothing exiciting, it doesn’t pay well so no motivation to do these…
It wouldn’t let me use my custom vehicles in those races. It would just say restricted or off
worst thing is you spedn a ton more time in the lobby than in the actual race :(

These are just placeholder DLC's, these are just bare bone features from GTA VI. We're going to get proper customization and driving in that game its gonna be way more refined.. they took 12 years to develop that game for a reason.
They aren't really drag races though. More like sprints.
Should be called manual shift point to point races a proper drag track would’ve been nice not just impromptu races with extra hud and a loading screen
I feel it's very underwhelming not being able to put the gearbox in your car to drive around the city is disappointing
I hate the limit on what cars you can use, and how do i make my own on console? These are good and remember that there is wheelspin so if you shift and the car suddenly has a long gear, you shifted during wheelspin.
I don't think it makes much sense to put certain cars in multiple classes.. Why not just make it multiclass at that point?
They are probably testing the gear shifting for gta 6

Drag races are just reg point to point races w extra steps, which no shit point to point but drag racing and having to make any sort of slight turn that isnt involving to avoid a car. Makes no sense imo in even bothering to play them, ill jus play the typical point to point races.
There just poibt to point races, what we had from day 1 in 2013 ….. I’m not bothered about this or drift racing. Wonder why Rockstar never merged the two race modes.

I get what you're saying about newer players not being given the same chance since they wont have the same cars, but i honestly dont even think R* cares. The game is coming to the end of its life cycle and i think the fact theyre still adding anything is a plus.
jewstar couldn't care less. They treat this game like it's a pay2win free to play game instead of something you buy with your own money. Cooldown+paywall simulator. Very bad look.

It sucks, no new missions for the drag races or vehicles. If they where just gonna add new races they should of done it long ago, and actually do something good with the drag races. No funny cars, top fuel cars nothing, we just got street outlaws is all we got and not even the cool drag cars with it.

I guess the drag races are a nice touch although they're very out of place for a game like GTA particularly with how dogshit the AI traffic is. The only way they could've really fucked up these races is if they went the Most Wanted and Underground route and have your car be totaled if you crash or your engine blows if you don't shift.
It's still street racing... This isn't REALLY drag racing. And where are the Drag UPGRADE, like in DRIFT cars? Swing and a miss

Your idea about drag tires is cool, but it wouldnt fit in this game mode. Its literally illegal street racing at the end of the day, none of the cars are drag built cars. To further prove that besides the obvious reason, proper drag cars (like Gassers for example) arent avaible in these. L

They could have made it 30 cars. To d honest. This is not a drag race. It’s a sprint race. Drag race is a strip. Not racing through twist and turns. That’s a sprint. They don’t know about cars. Shifting early. Not even sounding like it should be shift to have the power. This is a major fail
there are no drag races, only sprint races with gears and the choice of cars is all wrong and unbalanced. Hellfire in muscle, everon in sport, calico in tuner,

imo the drag races are really boring and anoying. They pay awful, the fact that they take place on public roads feels wrong and the traffic is awful. I was searching for some drag tires as well and got annoyed by the fact that there are none. For me those races are one of the worst additions to the racing part of gta online
